I will point out that Sadie was also expressing some grievances with Lars's "normal" behavior. She told him it's like he's "one way in private and a different way in public" and her tone suggest she wasn't talking just about right then.

And an era of the characters actually learning by themselves will be upon us. With Stephen only being a guidance fairy.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I think for Steven to learn something from this, he'd first have to actually know he's wrong. In both this episode and "Barn Mates" his efforts paid off in the end, so there's no error to be learned from. There'd have to be an instance where Steven tries to get people to like each other and find he just can't do it.
Like da P-dot stink...except dis time it's permanent. He'll get all angsty again, but learn a valuable lesson in da process.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Everyone has their own preferences, no need to deny the Peridot of hers.
She feels right at home watching that.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. So the CN Anything ap released a short "Alone at Sea" clip
Since these were actually released by CN and don't really spoil anything, I'll post them here. (Unless someone asks me to not to)
GUNDAMU GUNDAMUThat might just be Yellow Tail's boat.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. That might just be Yellow Tail's other boat...considering he also has a motor boat in "Drop Beat Dad"...
Ruby set the ball on fire...gosh darn it, someone was wrong.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I'm still kind of at a weird place on my thoughts with Lars because he's such a different take on a Jerkass character. On the one hand, he's a kill joy who can bring down the mood, but on the other he doesn't actively go out of his way to antagonize anyone.
Like legit, the worst thing he ever did in the show is take advantage of Sadie's goodwill to play hooky from work. Maybe ditch Ronaldo as a friend, but then again it's fucking Ronaldo.

If I'm being honest, I actually felt kind of uncomfortable watching "The New Lars", because it shows how bad Lars' relationship is with most of the people he knows.
Lars is a strange character to me, because sometimes I'm not sure whether or not I'm supposed to sympathize with him. It's clear that he's not a happy person, but he has yet to really work on his attitude either. When so many other characters have shown self-improvement, I'm not really sure what the writers are trying to do with him.

Maybe Ronald wouldn't have turned out so bad if Larson didn't do the thing he did do.
People like him don't work on their attitude until they see the negatives, his parents and the cool kids aren't encouraging his attitude...but they also aren't doing anything about it. Sadie was the only one who tried, even though she went about it wrong.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Yeah, he's quite the stinker who rubs his nostrils in areas they don't belong...but that was as a kid and he just never grew out of it. It's a sad life.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I can't even believe I didn't notice the subtext of this line:
“Some cute little heart gauges, some fluffy little movie, that’s enough for Sadie! Right, Lars?”
What has Lars tried (and done) in the past that Sadie would immediately go to this when Steven!Lars says he loves her?
"The cruelest thing you can do to an artist is tell them their work is flawless when it isn't." -Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw

There's an extent to which I find Steven Unintentionally Unsympathetic in his Shipper on Deck attitude toward those two. I get that he's naive, but between thisand Lapis/Peridot, he seems to have a trend of thinking he can just force people to like each other by being really pushy about it. As much as I don't like Lars, he was right about Steven acting obnoxious at the beginning of this episode.
