[up][up]Probably, the 90s/early 2000s were a...magical time for english voice acting in video games.

So "Beach City Drift" is tomorrow AND it's the one with Stevonnie?

Do you think "Restuarant Wars" and "Kiki's Pizza Delivery Service" will carry over a plot point? Is there a reason two restaurant-themed episodes are back-to-back?

Even the DMC games with better voice acting have a good share of Narm.

[up][up][up]The synopsis for BCD reads: "Steven and Connie battle their biggest foe in a car race." Given the thumbnail for the So S advert, it's pretty clear with some thought gonna be a Stevonnie episode. Who else can you think of that would be their "biggest foe"?

[up]Sure, but you spoiler seekers will keep that, to the appropriate thread, right?

Weird thing is. At least on twitter anyway. A lot of people apparently liked Kevin, and wanted to see him again. But he's probably going to end up just being a 2 dimensional Jerkass.

I say that in jest, but really now...

Also what were the grades he got?
7 Fs, 1 D, 1 B. All the subject names were illegible.

For some reason I always headcanoned Lars as part Filipino. Probably because his voice actor is Asian.
In the pilot, he clearly was Asian, but the redesign's orange hair and skin made it a lot less clear. I just figured he still was, and the orange is a mild case of Amazing Technicolor Population, just like Onion and Yellowtail's yellowish skin tone.

This episode was nothing like what I thought it would be. I was expecting them to give some kind of Freudian Excuse to Lars, which they completely avoided (ideed, they almost rejected the idea by showing him to have loving, accomodating parents and a seemingly well-off household). It was pretty funny/awkward, but it still doesn't sell me on the idea that Sadie/Lars is a good romantic pairing.

[up][up]They didn't really try to...Larson will only get better though.

One positive from a very neutral episode.

Yeah, I'm not sold on the idea of Sadie & Lars being good for one another romantically. Steven's naivety and belief everybody can be friends with everyone else causes problems he's not able to see coming. That's part of the reason I wish he hadn't tried so hard to make Lapis simply forgive Peridot for all the grief of bringing her back to Earth in "Barn Mates". Those wounds aren't healed overnight.

Incidentally, I have to call bullshit on this episode's romantic conclusion that Sadie was the only one who appreciated the "real" Lars more than Steven's fabrication. The reason she turned against Steven!Lars wasn't because she appreciates the way Lars normally is, it was because she assumed that Lars acting uncharacteristically nice meant he was trying to manipulate his way into sleeping with her. That's... not a point in their favour.

Even before that, she thought Steven-as-Lars was super boring and weird.

I really question the staff's endgame for the two of them. Maybe it makes sense later on, but if they're trying to highlight an example of what a bad relationship between two individuals looks like, I pretty much get the point.

[up][up] Did she? I mostly just got the impression that she was weirded out and suspicious of how out-of-character Lars was acting.

[up][up]I don't think this is written with an "endgame" in mind. Not everything needs to be or should.

[up]She hate the movie he picked ("I think I'd rather have my organs pickled.") and asked "What is with you tonight?" when he started crying. She was uncomfortable even before she thought it was a trick.

So an intentional case of wondering where the mouse when, then?

On another note, there sure has been a lack of Garnet in these "Summer Adventure" episodes to date (I'm not counting "Steven Floats" here). Wonder what she's up to...

At the very least Steven should stop butting in their relationship. He's kinda making it more chaotic than it needs to be.

Trying to force everyone to be happy, and butting into everyone's business. Typical flaws of a Manic Pixie Dream Boy

And now drag racing. Clearly Steven is entering his troublemaker phase.
