I still don't find it entertaining because it's a cliche. But I find it interesting that people think characters like Marty aren't realistic, because I guarantee you people like that do exist.
Someone mentioned that it would have been less unpleasant and would have made more sense if instead of lying Marty had just asked in the first place if Sour Cream would let him help with the gig and let him advertise the Soda, But that's exactly the kind of stuff that pathological liars do. Lie to get what they want even when it doesn't make sense, and will probably hurt their chances.

Marty didn't lie (as far as I can recall, he's actually fairly up front about things he feels people need to know, if nothing else). What he did was take over SC's concert and assume that SC would go along with everything Marty wanted to happen because, after all, that's how people (and by extension Marty) become successes in the music world. He's legitimately surprised when SC takes offense, because after all, who wouldn't submissively go along with every bit of Executive Meddling their manager sets up and still expect to be a success?
That's was biggest sign that this wasn't going to end well - even from the very beginning, Marty treated SC more like a client than his actual son, and he already doesn't treat his clients well.

Maybe that's where the ten million dollars came from. If Greg's actual recordings were popular enough that they made that much money even after Marty took out his cut, I feel like we would've heard about it.

x5 It would've still been a cliche, the actual bad part was how by the numbers it was. They didn't shake it up.
Simply being a cliche isn't a bad thing.

No, he totally lied about "making up for lost time", and he lied again about "hyping him up" because he had an agenda behind everything. That was the bigger part of the reason Sourcream told him to take a hike. It was because he had ulterior motives that were embarrassing him at his own show, and because he called Sour Cream selfish, hypocritically.
He didn't really have a problem with him controlling the set up until that happened. Until that he was mostly just cool with the help, because he didn't realize all the cool stuff came with a catch he wasn't told about. He just thought his Dad was helping him put on an awesome show.
And even if you argue "maybe Marty still intended it to be bonding", From his behavior I really don't think so. He was being dishonest about his intentions pretty clearly. but even then, a lie by omission is still a lie.
It didn't really seem to me like was he was surprised by Sour Cream being offended either. In fact he probably didn't mention it because he was afraid of / expected him to be. Marty was just deflecting the blame, back on Sourcream, and was trying make him feel bad for not being grateful for the show he set up for him, probably so he could keep manipulating him through guilt.

Finally got around to seeing Drop Beat Dad, and it felt... pretty weak. Possibly my least favorite episode in a long while. Too rushed and predictable at the same time to have any real impact. And even if Marty was supposed to be an unredeemable sleazeball I was hoping they'd pull it off better. The show is pretty good about giving other really minor characters some degree of rounding, while Marty has none. He's just boring.
I was surprised that Sour Cream and Marty seemed to have spent at least some time together when he was a kid rather than it being a one-night stand. Does Onion have an age? Maybe Marty leaving nine years ago was when Vidalia met Yellowtail and had Onion.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I believe when that usually happens those people start speaking in their native/birth language...not the other way around.
Yellow-tail speaks in the language of the muh-moomas: ancient replacement for Russians...since it appears to be real.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I think he was specifically saying something Yellowtail had before, but forgot to translate.
He did translate...unless he said something else.
Convenient Censoring...
