There's gonna be some patience testing...New Stephen Universe episode has eluded the unconscious me. Thas lame. Now I have to wait for a predictable scenario.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Cail's sister has seized control of the keyboard in a bloody coup d'état. This is what she has to say:
I really like the recurring theme of parent/child relationships we've seen on this show. Parent themed arcs seem to be very popular among human characters. (Sadie, Connie, Buck, and now Sour Cream) And then of course there's Steven with his plots revolving around his dad and plethora of moms. I think this really emphasizes a contrast between Earth and Homeworld. When Peridot recounts her own creation there's no mention of any parental figures or parental love, just a "cold unfeeling robot arm", if you will. This is just something that doesn't exist on Homeworld. Then of course you've got a character like Rose who appears to want to separate herself from gems and be part of humanity. What does she do to achieve that? She becomes a parent.
Guacola: The Soda That Can Make Even Ronaldo Hilarious!
I do have to wonder what the hell that company did such that 17 states are filing a lawsuit.
moved to Oceanstuck because this handle was starting to bother me my tumblrI think the biggest hints are
The ingredients list was "100% Avocado + other natural ingredients".

Look at Ronaldo, struggling to not outright say "it's shit".
Yep, explains a lot.

moved to Oceanstuck because this handle was starting to bother me my tumblrWow, I was ready to write this one off as a filler episode riiiiiight until those last couple seconds.
I've got Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash, Spyro, and Paper Mario fanfics.Dammit Marty, you sucked me in with your sleazy old man charms!
Ah well. Would have been nice to have him be a more complex character, but I guess some people are just assholes.
I wonder what Greg's gonna do with the money. From what I've seen with "Mr. Greg", it looks like he's going to do something expensive in Empire City with Steven and Pearl, and it also looks like he's getting a new car (hopefully Steven and Connie don't trash it). If I were him, I'd set aside some for emergencies and for Steven, maybe donate a fair portion to charity...10 million dollars is nothing to sneeze at.
Oh God! Natural light!![]()

It's gonna happen...just not in that cliche kind of way.

I agree that some people are truly assholes, and are beyond help. But it feels like they took an overly simplistic approach to it in this episode.
I would have thought they would make it more subtle, like how he would look less evil than he did in Greg's flashback, and seem genuine in wanting to help. Then, the facade starts to fade, and he begins introducing thing after thing that Sour Cream doesn't like until it's a bastardized version of his original idea. Then, the betrayal feels all the more forceful, especially if Marty admits that he knew what he was doing the whole time, and he was just using SC for his own purposes. And after it fails, then he begrudgingly brings up the check to Greg and leaves.
Having it happen all at once as a twist near the end made it very telegraphed, especially with how obvious his initial lie was. I think it would've been better to keep the audience guessing with whether or not he's really changed, rather than just wait for the characters to catch up with what the audience already knows, which is that he hasn't changed.
"The cruelest thing you can do to an artist is tell them their work is flawless when it isn't." -Ben "Yahtzee" CroshawI doubt it, did you see how old and simpsons-ish he looked? He ain't comin' back without flashbacks.

Idk. It feels like there isn't really anything more to his character, it feels to me that he was crafted to serve a basic role and has served his purpose. I mean it would be cool to see him make a surprise appearance in the future and show some more complexity, but I find that pretty unlikely.

I agree. I think something that would have been cool is for Marty to have actually wanted to reconnect with his son, but his manipulative nature and greed ruin the whole thing. You know, made him feel a bit more like a real person instead of a simplistic asshole.
The setup/progression was pretty predictable and kind of underwhelming.

You must considerate that we are seeing the things from Greg's perspective.
Also, I must commend, a lot of people can be actually quite sociopathic in real life. Marty is definitely not a mass murderer, but he's lazy, he lacks about empathy, and in real life, sociopaths and sociopathic people can be quite devoid of feelings. Hollywood shows people like that like if everytime they had an Freudian Excuse or a deepest character, but sadly, and despite the appereances, realistically enough, Marty might not have an Freudian Excuse or a sad reason to justify the way he behaves.
And even if they have some deep issues, that doesn't mean that people will automatically gonna know that just because they are in the same room, and if he doesn't show any redeeming quality to the people, people will not gonna have sympathy for him.

There was no real reason why Marty had to be manipulative and dishonest about what he was doing.
"Hey there kiddo! I have this gig I need to set up to promote a soda. Would you like to be a part of it and have fun DJ'ing?"
People would have still hated the soda since it was gross, but he made the situation unnecessarily unpleasant for everyone with absolutely no benefit for himself.
