You're right that is some amount of greed.
Had a weird dream last night. I think it was about another leak, except this one was a huge spoiler - some sort of secret that Pearl was keeping from the rest of the Gems. I didn't find out what it was, because I was desperately trying to avoid spoilers, but it was grim, and it was a game changer. I do think, however, that it was something that Rebecca Sugar planning on revealing much earlier - maybe even in a version of the pilot that never aired - but decided against it.
Like I said, weird.

Oh God! Natural light!
I have been curious as to what the show could (or would) do if it ever wanted to take itself in a different direction.
Obviously, there's the fanfiction that doesn't fully grasp the tone of the show, and doesn't know that a more serious turn can't happen in an instant. But it is an interesting idea to think how the show could slowly take itself more seriously. There would still have to be some levity to it, but they would probably dial it down a bit.
They would probably have to do something to show how much of a threat Homeworld actually is to Earth, like attack the actual planet instead of just the Gems.
"The cruelest thing you can do to an artist is tell them their work is flawless when it isn't." -Ben "Yahtzee" CroshawRuby and Sapphire both came from Blue Diamond's court.
Lapis as well likely.
Peridot (and Jasper if she does heel face turn) from Yellow Diamond.
In a way it doesn't matter who was overseeing the kindergarten, Amethyst was never meaningfully loyal to any of the Diamonds.
Pearl and Rose probably Pink Diamond.
White Diamond seems to have had the least to do with Earth. At least as far as the rebellion past and current goes.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI like the idea that the Diamonds were essentially governors with different jurisdictions. That initially Blue was supposed to be taking care of Earth, but everything went to hell (or the Gem equivalent of it, anyway) and now its Yellow's department.
My theory is still that Blue went out like Moff Tarkin at the end of the Rebellion, thus inspiring Homeworld to go "screw it, kill everything."

Question: Is Garnet a good relationship?
Okay, maybe "Good" isn't the right word. Because I love Garnet (the gem and the ship) and it's adorable.
BUT
The rare times when we see Ruby and Sapphire separated, it shows a frightening level of codependency. They're barely able to function as individual beings anymore. If the Rubies weren't literally as stupid as a box of rocks, they'd have put the entire team, possibly the planet in danger, because they couldn't stop flirting or being Garnet for ten minutes.
Steven had to be the one to tell them to get their act together.
STEVEN.
My various fanfics.Ruby and Sapphire aren't exactly in a normal, human relationship. In the present, when it does seem like they can barely function without being fused, but then their relationship is more like Ascended to a Higher Plane of Existence than normal dating.
It's a bit creepy from the point of view of Ruby and Sapphire as individual beings, yeah, but the point of their relationship is that they don't think they're supposed to be individual beings any more.
It's one of this show's many "comparable to real life stuff while still very different" things surrounding fusion.

Separating is more akin to being forced to have a long distance relationship or being in a spat serious enough to spend time apart than just being in the next room.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAnd now a preview for "Mr Greg"
Looks like CN is finally uploading preview clips for all the episodes this week
GUNDAMU GUNDAMU

Stubbornly resists spoilers. Seriously my luck is horrible. Madoka, Undertale, RWBY season 3, knew all about those going in through no fault of my own.
