thereby depleting the supply of completed episodes they would have used for Summer of Steven.
Baring delays, the show takes about ten days per episode. "Super Watermelon Island" premeried 49 days ago, so production has already nearly caught up with where it was at the end of the last hiatus. By July 18th, it'll be even further ahead. By the end of that week, production will be equivalent to what it was April 13th (29 days before the last hiatus ended).

They're actually airing them later than expected. They said at one point Summer of Steven was going to start in June.

I meant the episodes that aired in May. Sorry for not being clearer.

Steven with a pizza cutter looks like it could be from "Restaurant Wars" which we heard about ages ago.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

No, I don't think it's that. He wouldn't have a use for pizza cutters in that episode...

I want to see that alone for the great title. That, and I like the Pizzas, they got their shit together and seem like a healthy family. Unlike the rest of Beach City's populous.

Considering the shit that often goes down at Beach City, being a bit weird seems to more a survival trait as opposed to something to worry about.

So...I was thinking about possible reasons gems are so hellbent on expanding their empire to create more gems, when gems live for thousands of years and are really hard to kill. But like what if gems being corrupted is a relatively common thing? And since Homeworld either can't or doesn't bother to fix them, they just shatter them? So that's one of the reasons they need to keep replenishing their supply of healthy gems?

If it didn't have anything to do with the rage-quit sparkle effect they left behind, that's a good second option.

Gems are parasites...they need no reason, they just do it instinctively.

Isn't "That's how they reproduce" a good enough reason to colonize more planets? I mean, it was a perfectly good explanation for why the Reapers did what they did. At least in Mass Effect 2. They came up with a different reason that made no sense in Mass Effect 3, but that's neither here nor there.

Parasites always feed off other living things, so despite the virus comparisons I'm not sure if that's the right word. Unless it's proven that what Gems get from the rocks is some kind of life energy of course.

Do gems really need a reason to expand their empire? The Romans sure didn't; neither did the Mongols or whoever else you could mention.

Will to power is pretty much the beginning and end of it.

Unless it's proven that what Gems get from the rocks is some kind of life energy of course.
In "How are Gems Made?", Amethyst said the Kindergarten machines "we suck up all the good stuff from the ground", so it's either Life Energy or matter that's necessary for any kind of life.

The shipping chart on the wall in the last panel of that first one... HOMESTUCK REFERENCE! Not only does it contain several card symbols, but it's exactly the same format as all these shipping charts. I couldn't find a blank template for the first one on the first few rows of google image search, but yeah

After seeing a review that brought up some interesting points, it's reaffirmed my sympathy for Lapis in her spotlight episodes this season.

A lot of fans are mad at her for breaking Peri's tape recorder, which was a dick move. But Steven and Peridot are trying to get her to socialize and be happy, which isn't something she's ready or wants to do.

She just wants to be left alone for a while and enjoy her own private freedom. It's subtle, but it seems to have flown under the radar to an extent that Peridot wasn't right in her justification for wanting to help Lapis.

Lapis: I don't want your garbage.

Peridot: What, were you trapped in a tape recorder too?! Look, I get it, you know? You're confused! You can never go back to Homeworld. This place, doesn't exactly feel like home yet. You're alone, no one could possibly know what that feels like! Oh wait, I do! We're the same, except you don't have to be alone all the time.

Well, she basically was stuck as a recorder even if Peridot doesn't know that. And her problem isn't that she's alone, it's that she is still trying to recover from not being alone. Sure the Earth isn't home to her quite yet, but unlike Peridot Lapis didn't want to go back home after she was stuck on Earth.

She means well, she really does, but Peridot's problems aren't Lapis' problems.

And when push came to shove, she saved Peridot from the eye and took time to ask if she was okay.

Does it mean she should have been so blunt with the green triangle, of course not. But I think fans want to be mad at her because it wasn't the fluffy, heartwarming friendship moment that they wanted. She needs time to heal.

That, and some got on Lapis' case for being more aloof with the baseball game but she was happy a few times and was clearly staying on task with the game. Now that nobody's bugging her, she can have her own little moments to be herself as Bob.

There's also the fact that the tape recorder is probably so primitive that Lapis literally sees it as garbage. It would be like if you were upset, and then someone came up to you and said, "Here, I made you this rock tied to a stick!"

I've got Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash, Spyro, and Paper Mario fanfics.
