Pretty much, for many this is darker and more pyschological slice of life that for some reason is mecha series and it make clear Shinji dosent give a damn about whole thing(and why it shouldnt?) and like I said is mecha series which create expectations and one of them is protagonist being pro-active bad ass time, SU doge the issue by focus in Steven and hell, everytime the show focus in gems figthing alone is not good for them(lapis by them, malachie, etc)
And he did while other "badass" chararter like vegeta are fool but you see, sometimes is not what you do but HOW you do it
Well this twist is true....granted, not in the "I wish you didnt born steven" but is obvious Gem have trouble understanding why Rose did what it did(and to be fair, so Steven AND the audience) she is gone and nobody really understand Steven role as half-human-gem which bring problems to time to time(like him almost againg himself to death in too-many-birthday) or when Amathys lashing against Greg for "stealing" Rose from her
It also depend of intensity of the chapter, in first season Pearl fight a lot with Amathys and make some rather coment against her that take diferent light in "run away" and her devotion of Rose is rather unhealthy, even more in sworn to sword or rose scrabald, compare that to Garnet who have very few chapter with her issue and almost all of the are related to fusion or amathys who show her flaw in more sympathic light(except when she shapeshift into Rose to taunt Greg, fuck her for that)
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"
Resent was the nice word, you don't want to know the actual word I meant by that.
No.
We're on brief hiatus.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I just realized that since Gems aren't really female, then technically neither of them are gay. At least no more then you can say that talking computer that doesn't know What Is This Thing You Call "Love"? is asexual or shapeshifter can be trans.
So that would mean that first reference to gays in show would be....Peridor's mad shipper rambling, then?
Gems may have No Biological Sex but they still identify as a One-Gender Race of women.
1) Is it really "gay" when your species don't have men? It's like saying that aliens that reproduce asexually are as good example of asexual as asexual person from Earth.
2) we didn't even know that when we first met her anyway, so if anything "Jail Break" would be first reference or perhaps of Pearl episodes.
I think that's how they got away with the themes they cover in this show. It's their fallback excuse for when the inevitable questions pop up.
"No, they're not gay. They're a race of sentient rocks that all simply look traditionally female in their physical forms. Plus, only a few of them have learned to love at all."
I told my mom about the show once, mentioning Garnet's character and Pearl's Type 4 Love Triangle with Rose, and she said was leaning towards not being okay with it. Her reason was that its subtlety means the ideas go straight to the kids' heads, without being upfront about it. She said that the show becomes less about the content and more about having a message. Although, when I asked her what's wrong with simply introducing kids to the idea of a same-sex romance, she couldn't come up with an answer.

"The cruelest thing you can do to an artist is tell them their work is flawless when it isn't." -Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw

Now Lapis is getting a lot of that it seems, if not nearly as much sheer hate.
@scheduling. CN just kinda airs SU when it feels like it. It's a bit inconsistent.
