I loved the decision to have Steven Gem erase Pink Diamond and show he was Steven all along, he never had Pink Diamond stuck in there... Until Future came and showed Pink Diamond avoided Karma for all the shit she did and ruined her sons life with all her mistakes. It would have been so much more cathartic to see her actually know the disasters she created.
As long as this flower is in my heart. My Strength will flow without end.I think that's kind of the beauty of Pink Diamond as a character: she's idolized by the gems and reviled by Homeworld, but in the end she was a flawed character with both good and bad traits, who has lived for thousands of years and has many skeletons as that implies. She helped people, she hurt people, and she's not around anymore so people who are still grieving turn their attention elsewhere.
Also, I don't really think spending many thousands of years working to alleviate the horrible aftereffects of her decisions in effective isolation should really count as "avoiding karma." The character did a lot of working specifically to deal with the results of her flaws.

I think the creators said they avoided showing earth-type jewels to avoid a Furry Confusion situation.

probably doesn't help Steven also think that too, which understandable but because of pov being more focused on him and given the fact during the arc where Connie ghost him and we don't get her side on how she feels during that and making her look Unintentionally Unsympathetic, the sympathetic qualities about Rose are being ignored that some people would probably criticize Rebecca on why didn't go for characterizations of Rose/Pink that were more unsympathetic than the one we got.
context: in November 2024, she was involved in a podcast and it was revealed in that (I think this was already said on some level in the second art book? idk) that version that we got of Rose/Pink was soft and said something that the previous characterizations would be the more unsympathetic like how people and some of the characters feel about her.
I wonder if anybody thought about the similarities between Rose and Stoles from Helluva Boss, at least when it comes to them being from a higher class family, had high expectations from their own family and their children hate them for their selfish needs.
yes I'm aware Steven is little more complicated but I don't recall him saying something that doesn't come off like Rose was a monster instead of this far from perfect person and sometimes I kinda feel like it could be argued he felt like she deserve the treatment she gotten under the diamonds based on how he treated Cactus Steven, which people say already had parallels with pink considering it was treated badly and ran away.
sorry about the long rambling, this whole thing surrounding Rose is probably still going to be on my mind but I'm curious about the comparisons between Rose and Stoles.
So recently I watched all of Future, and that last handful of episodes just destroyed me. Admittedly I was going through it pretty bad, but still, I never break down like that. I don't know what happened.

Do not spare the feelings of those who would not spare yours.

I've always wanted to see two Sapphires fusing so you can say they're a sapphiric fusion.
