Connie had to know about his floating abilities otherwise that fusion idea makes no sense.

I mean fusing to take the landing better make sense, but fusions were never shown to decrease falling speed.

I meant she may have thought the floating/hovering was just a Stevonnie ability (which they used earlier in the episode) instead of something Steven could do on his own.

According to a post on Twitter, it's mentioned within the TV promo for the movie.

The Pyramid Temple in "Serious Steven" is still one of the strangest things in my opinion. Why was it built? What's with the mural? How did the gem inside get Corrupted while Lapis was protected?

Said TV Promo aired during Craig of the Creek. I only bring this up because I just saw an episode of that show where one of the characters was eating a Cookie Cat.

> How did the gem inside get Corrupted while Lapis was protected?

That's easy enough to explain,Lapis was effectively shielded by the mirror's dimension while the Gem inside the temple had no such protection, the temple is a anomaly that comes with early instalment weirdness,ie. it was a cool idea at the time but actually fitting it into the plot is tricky

"Seeing Earth in a non-traumatic context convinced her their actions were defensible, even if she wasn't willing to join in yet."

Kinda, Steven show earth Is worth living, something of the show hammer about Is that even if they protect earth, the gems dont really get it.

And I feel lápis should be upset, even if Just a little bit.

[up] I could totally see her being upset if she found out fresh off of "Change Your Mind", but movie Lapis has had two years to properly move past her traumas and get to know Bismuth. And, if she learned that Rose unfairly bubbled Bismuth and hid her away, I feel like she would consider them "even", at least in terms of karma.

The Pyramid Temple in "Serious Steven" is still one of the strangest things in my opinion. Why was it built? What's with the mural?
By this point, they knew the Diamonds were a thing and Rose used to be one of them, but their conflict with the Crystal Gems wasn't even vaguely defined. The pyramid and mural's functioning was either written for a different scenario, or not considered at all.

Here is my comprehensive, but still pretty-freaking-crazy headcanon: The pyramid gem was taking a regular form, was corrupted, turned into most of the pyramid, and the mural is formed by its memories of the war. That's why most of the temple disappears when the gem was pulled out (I'll note that since Save the Light is canon, there's a huge basement that wasn't destroyed with the rest of it. For whatever reason, it may have chosen to park on top of it.)

Lapis was effectively shielded by the mirror's dimension while the Gem inside the temple had no such protection
Dimension? I don't see how the mirror would protect her when her gemstone was pointing up. The implication I got was that Lapis wasn't corrupted because she wasn't formed. What that means for the Crystal Gems' prisoners that were being held in bubbles is unclear.

Rewatch Day 30

    Future Boy Zoltron
  • One less voice: Steven talks to Peedee in the opening scene, and several others during the montage, without us hearing any talk back.
  • Some people think Steven actually did break Zoltron, but I always saw it as the thing already being on the verge of exploding.
  • No one considers having Greg pay for the damage. Though as Steven isn't paying for the thing months later, he may have offscreen.
  • Lars returns to be a recurring character.

Last One Out of Beach City
  • Going to the concert was Greg's idea. The first sign he's still plugged into the local rock scene.
  • I'd like to see Barb and Vidalia together some time.
  • "Ugh, man, forget it. I can't go show-lo, that'll be boring!" She'd probably have fun alone, but only if she pushed too much and got in a fight.
  • "Well, if you'd like to go, you guys can take the Dondai!" Without Lion, how exactly do the gems get to place far from Warp Pads? Do they just hoof it?
  • Sadie and Lars are completely absent from the scene in the Big Donut, even in the background. Apparently, Mystery Girl stole that coffee.
  • "Definitely Sugar Shock Shutdown. It turns everything red." Totally a poop joke. I wonder if Amethyst ever wishes she could get an actual buzz from that stuff.
  • "We're going to see Mike Krol. He's got that real garage vibe. Songs about being nostalgic for the suburbs." I'm not sure if that's supposed to be accurate or Amethyst mixing things up. I've listened to "I Hate Jazz" without getting anything like that.
  • Krol's music is playing on the car's stereo. If it's the radio, that could make sense if a local station was playing it because of the concert.
  • Mystery Girl trying to pass the Dondai in the same lane is ridiculously dangerous.
  • Of the two times the police show up, one happens outside Beach City, and the other arguably does as well (in Greg's photo of a car dealership). That's pretty strong evidence that the cops outright avoid the place.
  • We never find out if Greg got back his Dondai, or if the cop caught the license plate.
  • Pearl's trick hiding behind the billboard must have required something obstructing the squad car's view right behind her.
  • For some bizarre reason, Pearl wore the jeans over her regular skirt. That seems like it would be uncomfortable and make her butt look weird.
  • That one extra (almost certainly a caricature of a crewmember) is really into lipsynching "Like a Star".
  • This is the first explicit mention, but humans presumably assume the gems' hair is dyed.
  • "I don't have a phone." They may well have had the general idea for how Pearl would tell Steven already.
  • It took me until now to realize Mike Krol didn't do any original recording for his appearance, hence he's not in the voice cast.

    Onion Gang
  • Steven knows he needs to talk to himself when he's with Onion, though I think some of it is redundant (or at least awkwardly-phrased).
  • Squash may well be carrying those squashes around just to show their name.
  • It really is Steven's own fault for not getting Garbanzo was just pretending to be injured when he puts ketchup on his face.
  • Steven could have stretched his arms for the jacket, but probably would have had less fun that way.
  • Soup laughs once, but still has no voice actor credit.
  • One less voice: Steven calls Connie but we only hear his side, and he texts Peedee.
  • Steven's text message shows him as conversing with "Pee Dee".
  • For some reason, Steven went out of his way to put the beetle back inside the house.

I've realized there are a couple episode ("Shirt Club", "Sadie's Song", "Restaurant Wars", "Onion Gang", and "The Big Show") with no fantastic elements at all. There are also a few ("Mr. Greg", "Last One Out of Beach City", "Sadie Killer", "Gemcation") where they are only mentioned. Special mention goes to "Drop Beat Dad", where the one supernatural phenomena (Steven's impossible strength) is completely irrelevant to the plot.

I always imagined since she was trapped behind behind the mirror she was still forming, just in sealed off space where she could do nothing else

Rewatch, Day 31

    Gem Harvest
  • "I have to admit, I've really been starting to miss the pitter-patter of full-sized Gem soldiers..." Is "full-sized" one of those things that's just said for the audience, or has Peridot actually figured out the concept of aging?
  • Lapis and Peridot's operative logic seems to be that most trees and grass aren't sapient because they weren't grown well enough.
  • "Greg got your message and [Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl] came, too." But why, though?
  • "What're you doin' to that guy up there?" Greg didn't recognize Andy until he recognized Greg.
  • The first common ground between Andy and the Crystal Gems: Steven is still a football.
  • "You space walnut!" is a pretty good insult.
  • "I'll give your coven a chance and eat your dinner, but only 'cause I lost my sandwich in the Atlantic." Andy, channeling a bit of pilot Lars.
  • Andy calls the other gems Steven's "aunts", which Steven finds more agreeable (and comprehensible) than Dewey calling them his "sisters".
  • Andy's predecessors were "the Daring DeMayos". Sounds like they were performers, though they could have just been really good at whatever else they flew for.
  • I love the simultaneously, full-party flinch at "What do you mean you weren't "technically" married?!?"
  • Kind of odd that Steven's shield works as a wok when that would make it vulnerable to heat. Though the oven was set to two thousand degrees.
  • Did anyone ever make fanart of Garnet, Pearl, Lapis, and Peridot shopping for groceries, cake, party supplies, and tombstones?
  • As amusing as the idea of Andy carrying around the "R.I.P. Andy" tombstone, it's probably too heavy for the plane. Although he could hold it easily, so maybe it's a foam prop.
  • Only one person eating at a packed dinner table is intensely awkward.
  • "Thank you, Andy for... showing up! Because of you, everyone came out here to the barn, and now we're all here for the first time in a while. And it's actually... pretty great!" Peridot, being very mature.
  • "Didn't we save the Earth?" "You guys think you're saving the Earth—" Andy apparently thought Peridot was exaggerating.
  • "Andy's Flight" sounds very Legend of Zelda.
  • Andy probably spent most of his time afterward reconnecting the DeMayo family. Steven meeting Greg's family is something I'd like to know of, even we just see a photo album or something.

I like to take the character relationships as literally as they're presented.

Garnet is Steven's lesbian aunts.

Greg is his dad.

Rose is his mom.

Pearl is Rose's ex and closest friend. She is also Steven's surrogate mother figure in Rose's place.

Amethyst is either Steven's big sister but old enough to be his aunt, or his aunt but young enough to be his big sister.

Rewatch, Day 32

    Three Gems and a Baby
  • Unique frozen title card. They didn't even used this in "Winter Forecast" because it wasn't snowing at the beginning.
  • Greg stays in the Beach House when it's really cold.
  • Vidalia went out of town to visit family. So apparently she moved out of her parents' home to Beach City, and got a two-story house before she even had a job. Either she inherited the place, or Beach City property values are dirt cheap.
  • A picture shows Vidalia was with Yellowtail even by the time Steven was born. Sour Cream should be three or four years old, though he kind of looks older.
  • "Does your gem need to breathe?" The closest we get to an explanation for gemstones always being unconcealed.
  • "Greg the Babysitter" was set less than four years earlier, yet Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl had already changed form.
  • Amethyst's head is drawn kind of strange in the gift-giving scene. It's usually rounder, but here it looks more like Steven's.
  • "[Rose] can't shapeshift because she's trapped in a baby!" Pearl came to the same conclusion as White Diamond. Maybe she was watching...
  • "Rose hasn't shapeshifted, and she isn't trapped. Steven is a fusion. Rose could be trying to un-fuse." Garnet was half-right, but what was she expecting Steven's non-Rose half to be?
  • Domestic kidnapping and grand theft auto. I think this may collectively be the worst thing the Crystal Gems ever did. (They also mentioned they nearly murdered a teenager... before Ronaldo.)
  • Ruby and Sapphire had different outfits, with more black, because this was before they were poofed in "The Return". Compared to their outfits in "The Answer", Ruby's is the same, while Sapphire has a square collar (like her next outfit) and black shoulders.
  • A young Buck in the snow--with Jenny.

    Steven's Dream
  • "Did Mom ever talk to you about... Pink Diamond?" "There were some things your mom didn't like to talk about. I never pressed her for details." That's not an answer. Greg definitely didn't know the full truth, but might he have known the story Garnet heard?
  • Amethyst's ponytail returns.
  • "S-steven, why don't you and Connie..." "You can't go there!" What was Pearl going to suggest?
  • Andy's appearance feels like a last-minute addition—we never figure out if he was waiting to give Steven and Greg a return trip.
  • "Aw, what's the hurry?" The first sign that humans consider gem sites off-limits. Though it still has a bus stop.
  • "위험 KEEP OUT Please" Rose needs to brush up on her Korean. Funny how the full gems are usually absent when human languages besides English come up.
  • It still irks me that Buddy's illustration was wrong—the non-colored parts match Blue's palanquin much more closely than Pink's.
  • "There's a geo-weapon incubating in your planet that will destroy everything shortly." "Geo-weapon, huh?" I wonder how Blue Diamond would react if someone explained the Cluster was stopped, but made up an explanation without the Crystal Gems (like humans somehow nuking it or it actually being a dud).
  • Was the ship in fog because Blue was hiding it, or just by coincidence?
  • Garnet was right behind Steven. If Steven just kept trying the Warp Pads, he could have saved himself, Greg, and Andy a 20+ hour plane ride.

    Adventures in Light Distortion
  • "What other Greg is there!?" Amethyst doesn't quite understand how names work.
  • "No, it couldn't possibly still exist." The Crystal Gems totally expected Homeworld to have killed them all already.
  • "It's our only chance! But, how are we going to get there?" "With the Roaming Eye." Steven, did you seriously forget that thing?
  • One less voice: Lapis just gives a thumbs up when Garnet tells her to look after the city.
  • "We should really do something about [the Rubies]." "We can pick them up on our way back." "Can" being the key word.
  • "You have bones in your bedroom." "That's different. Those are my bones." Further evidence that Amethyst is a graverobber.
  • In hindsight, messing with the console was a stupid idea when the wrong settings were nothing but an inconvenience.

    Gem Heist
  • "Amethyst guards. Right, like we could just waltz up as an ownerless Pearl, a fusion and, and you." She forgot Amethyst.
  • Amethyst's disguise has a white diamond. Maybe her court still has regular members, maybe Holly Blue wasn't paying attention.
  • "And here, of course, is the human disposal shoot." Disposal like "recycling organic matter" or "toss it into space"?
  • Steven and Sapphire missed an opportunity to gaslight Holly Blue: Give Steven Future Vision (before Garnet defuses if necessary). Use it to repeat Holly Blue's words, then say them in unison, then give her entire speech (including body language) before she does. When Holly Blue notices, Sapphire tells her Steven's not saying anything.
  • "As a one-way access point, there are no risks of an escape. In fact, it's only been used once for a human—" I'm guessing it's another situation similar to when Greg in the Choosening.
  • Sapphire with cute messy hair.
  • Ruby is kind of petty to waste time complaining about Holly Blue for liking someone she doesn't when Pearl spent the whole time getting insulted by her.
  • "Human horseshoes" is a pretty disturbing concept.

I saw a twitter post about the Lapis/Bismuth situation that explained Bismuth fought and poofed so many gems in the war that she's not even aware she poofed Lapis.

And Lapis is also unaware, as she never saw who it was, so Lapis couldn't possibly aim her grudge at Bismuth directly (which she likely wouldn't what with coming to terms with being a CG at the end of season 5, and the two year timeskip of the movie).
