I don't think they were planning on controlling The Cluster. I think it was meant to be a one-use weapon, like an atomic bomb on a global scale. I think the Diamonds were just planning on letting The Cluster just float around in space in orbit of the sun, left in agony and solitude. Fridge Horror when you get down to it.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Using the Cluster just once seems like a huge waste of resources. Like, Yellow keeps asking about it. Why would she care if it was only capable of destroying a single (as far as she knows) uninhabited planet? If they only planned on using the Cluster to destroy Earth and do nothing else ever again, what difference would it make? Now, I don't know how she planned to control the thing. Actually, I'm not sure how useful it would be to her anyway. They want planets intact for their resources. Maybe there's an alien empire that's particularly problematic and Yellow wants to use the Cluster to wipe them out? I'd say this was unlikely, but now that we're past the point of the original pitch, and all of Homeworld is on Steven's side, there has to be a new antagonistic force somewhere. I'm not saying it's a sure thing, but it's at least possible.
Yellow just wanted the earth destroyed and to be done with it.
Peridot had a plan to exploit the resources from Earth and she refused to hear it.
Oh really when?I didn't say that destroying the Earth would be a waste of resources. I said that using the cluster once would be waste of all the time and resources used to make the Cluster.
I think Garcon's point is that it was clear from context that Yellow Diamond didn't care whether or not it was a waste of resources. I totally agree that using The Cluster as what was essentially a Fantastic Nuke was a waste of resources, Yellow Diamond was probably aware of that on some level, and she didn't care anyway because of Revenge Before Reason (based on what she knew and what she was like at that point in the story).
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I was checking out Vile Villain, Saccharine Show and found Jasper, Aquamarine, and most of the Diamonds on there. Since to my knowledge they were all redeemed do you think they still qualify?
The Protomen enhanced my life. They were pretty vile while they were evil...

Regardless of your opinion of the last American election, we can all agree on one thing- The Chinese Communist Party can choke on scrotes!I really don't think the world of Steven Universe counts as a Sugar Bowl to begin with.

> Wait, did Aquamarine ever show up again?
She didn't but Gems of her type did, similarly we saw Topaz guards but not the Topaz that came to Earth
New theme music also a boxIt's weird that those other Aquamarines seemed much less mean than the first one we saw.
They weren't on a mission at the time so their attitude was different
New theme music also a boxAlso those are different individuals than the first Aquamarine we saw.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. That one Aquamarine was our first impression of that type and in many other cases gems of the same type have similar personalities.
That said there is plenty of room for variants. Look at those other two Jaspers at the zoo. Way more chill then the "perfect" one.

All the Rubies are some kind of childish, but for the Crystal Gem Ruby that means impulsive but emotionally open, while Eyeball is easily-angered and self-destructive.
Speaking of Rubies, if Ruby or Sapphire ran into Sapphire's other two Ruby bodyguards, you think they'd recognize each other? Besides if Garnet was formed/defused.
If the former Ruby bodyguards of Sapphire saw Crystal Gem Ruby... eh, I'm guessing they probably wouldn't recognize her. I mean, unless there are mitigating circumstances (like, well, everything with Crystal Gem Ruby), it's established that Rubies are Dumb Muscle. Look at the ones Yellow Diamond sent - they weren't able to tell that they were infiltrated by Crystal Gem Ruby at all. They only figured out something was amiss when Ruby and Sapphire fused back into Garnet. Then they come back and they again get suckered into thinking that Amethyst was Jasper, and that lasted until the shapeshifting wore Amethyst out.
I mean, even Garnet is willing to admit that her Ruby component is an exception rather than a rule. There's extremely little chance that the other two Rubies would recognize Crystal Gem Ruby. I mean, it's not completely out of the realm of possibility, but I'd say the odds don't favor it.
As for the Vile Villain, Saccharine Show bit... oof, part of that goes into the whole "are the sufficiently redeemed?" question. I guess it's easiest to say "no" with Aquamarine, since the one responsible for kidnapping everyone and prompting the Out Of This World mini-arc hasn't been seen since then. She hasn't done anything to redeem herself.
For that matter, I'm not inclined to give Japser the benefit of the doubt yet, either. Just because she listened to Amethyst about not starting shit with all four Diamonds present (or, from Japser's freshly-uncorrupted viewpoint, all three remaining Diamonds and "Rose" present) doesn't mean that she's been redeemed. Push comes to shove, she's got a long way to go and has done nothing to show that she understands yet.
For the Diamonds... well, maybe they can be removed. In order, I find it easiest to give credit to Blue, then Yellow, then White. Which isn't necessarily to say that I find any of them redeemed (we've yet to see what the aftermath of "Change Your Mind" is to Homeworld), but they admittedly aren't nearly as vile as they used to be.
Of course, I suppose there's also the argument to say that it should be removed simply because Steven Universe isn't really saccharine at all. I mean, it's one thing to have a Missing Mom, but the show starts off almost immediately with actually looking at how Rose's absence affects everyone, and the show even looked from the get-go about some pretty dark stuff, even if it didn't kick into high gear until "Mirror Gem." There's a reasonable argument that it's a Square Peg Round Trope here.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I think part of its reputation for saccharineness is the philosophy that everyone, no matter how bad can get redeemed and the general theme of acceptance, which kinda ignores the OTHER major theme about war.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Anyone else notice how in the 2010's cartoons have really toned down on Ms. Fanservice? Of all the cartoons I saw in the 2010's, Gravity Falls was literally the only one I watched that's listed on that page under Western Animation (yes, I know there's others, I just haven't seen them).
I compare that to cartoons I watched in the 2000s and realized there's a crap load more listed on that page.
I've seen 2010's cartoons with great female characters like this show obviously, not to mention Star vs. the Forces of Evil and Adventure Time, but none of them are made for Fanservice.
I acknowledge that there are people who like it, but I never cared for Totally Spies!, because it seemed to exist for just Fetish Fuel.
Don't get me wrong. Cartoons like Justice League can have beautiful women and still make them good characters, but I have noticed this trend. They say that the 2010s had the best cartoons (sad how this decade and Golden Age is coming to an end) and maybe this is part of it? They want to depict female characters more respectfully.
If someone already mentioned this here, I apologize. It's hard to keep up with so many posts!
Fanservice is dead. We killed it. And it remains dead. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us?
Humanity has outgrown fanservice. We are its orphans, and we live in a new world of our own making, where interest in things like Panty Fighter shows or Harem anime is archeological and esoteric. This is the point in our evolution that we have reached, as the following video so eloquently proves.
All Ruby Squads share a single brain cell. The OG squad seemed smarter because it was split 3 ways, and then when the other two poofed, Our Ruby got it all to herself.
The new Ruby Squad has to share the brain cell 5 ways, so they seem especially stupid.
Navy or whichever had a certain cunning to her, at least.
Navy had the brain cell that episode.
t they assumed it would naturally obey them all like other Gems because of their status, nobody expects a weapon to turn on them after all
