Why? Sigil Spam, of course. That said, it feels really odd with Garnet, particularly as she just had the chance to change up her appearance what, a couple days ago at most? Why did she change her shades now instead of after "Reunited"?
That said, I like that her new outfit incorporates more red-and-blue touches instead of strictly purple.
On the other hand, given how overboard she goes with most things, the frankly ridiculous number of stars on Peridot's new outfit makes total sense.
And, of course, of all the new outfits, I like Pearl's the best.
Oh, finally, another Fridge Logic moment... as Pearl established (and the other two demonstrated) in "Three Gems and a Baby," the vast majority of gems don't have any concept of childhood or what it's like. White Diamond does (in fact, the Armor-Piercing Question that ultimately ends the conflict can't even be set up if she doesn't). How? Are Diamonds different in that they actually have a life cycle closer to humans? Was she much more observant and cognizant of what was going on than previously assumed?
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I think you're misunderstanding how Fusions work a bit.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢My favourite redesign is Lapis. She is the ultimate expression of stylish comfy.
And I really dig that they finally incorporated gold in her design with the belt and the sandals.
And the girl continues to express her allegiance in an understated fashion, with a really subtle star motif that is a nice evolution from her old, equally subtle, diamond motif.
Second favourite is Pearl. That jacket she came up with is, like, all the fashion. And of course, she wears them mom jeans real good. What a dish she is.
Least favourite is easily Peridot's. I'm sorry, darling, but what are you doing?
I got no attachment to Gurren Lagann, so the glasses don't do anything. Her overall body suit is similar to her old one, but with something of a wrestler flair I'm just not feeling.
But the real deal breaker is the yellow rain boots.
Peridot, baby, you know I love you, but please ask for some pointers from Pearl and Lapis next time.

I think that all the Gems' new forms are bigger departures from the norm than any of their previous forms. Like, the change from Garnet's Season 1 form to her Season 2+ form isn't as big a change as that form to this one. And I think that holds true for everyone.
The best part of Pearl's jacket is that it clearly shows that the events of "Last One Out Of Beach City" stuck with her. It's not the exact same cut, but yeah, she definitely wants to rock the look from that night (same with the jeans, really).
As for Peridot's new outfit... I mean, it's Peridot. That's almost exactly the outfit I expected. For better or worse, she was always going to look like a fashion victim.
I'm honestly torn on Lapis. I like the belt/sandals, her star is stylishly placed... but I mentally can't get over that she's wearing MC Hammer pants.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Lapis' and Peridot's aren't very big departures, honestly.
Which might be why Peridot's bothers me. Lapis has an entirely new flair to her, but Peri's is a mishmash of design elements from Garnet and Amethyst on top of her own.
They make sense to Peridot's character, as Garnet and Amethyst have been big influences for her.
But the design doesn't bring anything new to the table.
Now, don't get me wrong. The design fits her, its kinda cute (in a fashion disaster kinda way) and the fans are certainly doing it justice.
But I wish it were more (I honestly wanted her to incorporate a skirt of some sort, specially after seeing her as flower girl in the wedding).
I was going to mention that.
With Lapis' new proactive, ready to fight attitude, her whole ensemble makes me think of a capoeira fighter or something.
You could drop her in Mugen, Tekken or Street Fighter and she'd fit right in.

I like Lapis’ journey sartorially speaking from space waif to ‘will punch anyone’
Forever liveblogging the Avengersskirts are harder to animate,I recall reading somewhere that one of the animators hated drawing Lapis's long skirt because of the way it's supposed to look when it's animated

New theme music also a boxGiven White Diamond’s all about weird pagentry, I’m thinking Homeworld’s excess military is Yellow’s doing. She was practically running the empire herself for all of Era 2, and may have been overcompensating in trying to please White.
Peridot is such a unrepentant nerd and that's why she's perfect. Lapis went with an understated look, but I bet it'll get tied back to Lonely Blade or something.
They said they didn’t want to change the shape of her hair.
That would've looked worse, soooo...yeah.
Peridot? That's what people said for her.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I imagine it'd be the same for both of them.
Blue Diamondo is very cute...
A Rushed finale, usually people exaggerate...but this is not one of those times.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.The way it's done it's like Peridot has both Kamina and Simon at once. She also made a huge drill, let's not forget.
Her drill is the drill that will fail to pierce the Cluster
Giga drill broken

Forever liveblogging the AvengersSteven Universe is Gurren Lagann minus toxic masculinity plus shitloads of emotional intelligence.
I wish the final battle had involved all the crystal gems fusing and punching out the Diamondzord, then Obsidian jumping out of its mouth to do a Peridot on the White head, then Stevonnie jumping out of that to smash White Diamond face.
No I don't. It doesn't work. But the spirit of it.
Abusive elders stifling the youth.
Obnoxious and arbitrary standards.
Cripplingly orderly life.
The misfits get together to reclaim their agency.
they're chaotic and messy and troubled by jealousy, codependency, grieving...
But together, through the power of COMBINING and sheer unabashed genuine emotional authenticity, they reclaim the future, and prove their abusive guardians/wardens wrong.
I thought that the CG redesigns were somewhat exaggerations of their previous appearances, with a tone like a child made them up.
These designs came after Steven fused with them in gem form to help them reform faster, so perhaps he influenced how they looked.
Then their redesigns made sense.
-Witty line-I wouldn't say Gurren features toxic masculinity (except for the cases of Kamina harassing Yoko); it lets Simon cry on-screen quite a lot, and people pushing their feelings down to be "tough" are presented as coping unhealthily.
Of course, Steven's a lot more sensitive and a complete sweetheart, so!
It's been fun.Kamina's toxic masculinity is kind of his central character flaw, and what makes him unsuited to be the main character. Simon's character growth is partially about realizing Kamina's flaws as a person and not replicating them himself.
^Right, should specify that it is in there, but it's addressed that it's not healthy and Simon outgrows it.
But again, yeah, Steven's just a lot more sensitive just in general. He's a good kid, and it's good to see him growing up. The callback to "Hamburger Backpack" really surprised me, because he really has gone from... well, not quite throwing a tantrum, but being upset at being excluded, to a mature and compassionate young man.
It's been fun.I also liked how Kamina's bravado is ultimately revealed to be a mask to cover his deep-rooted insecurities. He's the person with the lowest Spiral potential out of the entire cast barring Beastmen who have none in the first place for this reason. Spiral Power relies on self-confidence, and Kamina had none.
Disgusted, but not surprised
Why did her shades have to be the star anyway?
