I noticed lack of one general thread regarding Warhammer Fantasy, so I decided to create a one. :)
Not only Warhammer Fantasy Battle discussions welcomed, but also all things related to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (regardless of edition).
If anyone has questions regarding Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay's second edition, feel free to ask since I own most of its sourcebooks.
Warhammer 40,000 has its own thread here

The commemmorative miniature for AOS is a badass Skaven Clawlord
. The only thing I would change is to give him a helmet, the same type that Queek Headtaker has.
A retrospective of different generations of Goblins
from over the decades. The ones in the middle are *my* Gobbos, because that is what the range was like when I first got started.
Me too.
Edit: It's not strictly related, but to add something to this post beyond a vague "+1" and in the "blast from the past" vein, a while back I got curious and managed to dig up the Rat Ogre Pitfighting game
that was on the Warhammer website lo, these many aeons past, when I was getting into the hobby.

I'm glad I've saved my ancient White Dwarfs, that often featured tips for conversions and even for crafting terrain. While the tips are quite rudimentary compared to what can be found now online, the stuff in the magazines helped me get interested in the miniature hobby to begin with, and made me value creative freedom over anything else.
Old White Dwarf was best White Dwarf, particularly when it came to battle reports.
As for Goblins, I remember all those models, except the oldest Wolf Riders. I still think the oldest Squigs in that article were the best and I always wanted some, even though I prefer Orcs to Goblins (Black Orcs in particular).
I'm unsure which of all the different Greenskin factions is my favourite, because I like all of them for having so much personality. Night Goblins were the first models I seriously started to convert, because I like how the black robes make them look like a bunch of manic little wizards and cultists. The Mongol-inspired wolf-riders have always been another group that I like, especially the Hobgoblins. At one point I had an idea of making an army of Orcs, Goblins and Hobgoblins with a northern fur-clad theme, inspired by Frostwolf Orcs in Warcraft and the Frostlings in Age of Wonders. I had even an idea of making a regiment of arctic Savage Orcs.

Double-post: This time the Warhammer Almanack is showcasing one of the High Elves' grimier units, the Merwyrm
. It looks more like the seamonsters fielded by the Dark Elves, but it still fits with the High Elves being somewhere between Tolkien and the older myths that inspired him. The Merwyrm is also a reminder of how the Elven maritime heritage will eventually evolve into the Idoneth. Could be really fun to get a box of each type of elf for OW and AOS, and then kitbash these into interesting subcultures.

Hobgoblins have never really been a part of the Orcs and Goblins though, they have always been a Chaos Dwarf thing, with the Mongol ones being Dogs of War.
Today on Warhammer Community we don't get a new model but a returning one
, the Merwyrm is going to be part of the High Elf army for Old World, as part of the Lothern contingent (they can only be included if a Sea Guard) unit is taken. I was hoping that the High Elves would have Saphery focus but I suppose the Lothern makes more sense with their naval focus.

Amanar's been in canon in that capacity for a while, I think. It's mentioned in...
...uh...
The 2012 Uniforms & Heraldry of the High Elves. Yes. I knew that beforehand.
Anyway, merwyrms as a type of creature have been a thing for a while — they have their old model and were in the Monstrous Arcanum, which means that they've technically been around for longer than the old elf phoenyx models. Amanar is just a really, really big individual merwyrm.

A new reveal for OW: a pair of Arcane Frogs
that go along with the spell Scroll of Transmogrification. This is pretty much the WH equivalent of Polymorph, so with the other player's blessing I would use sheep for flavour. :P
I can't wait to see what the Turnip 28 community does with those. It's gonna be weird.
This time the OW Almanack has a piece on the High Elf presence in the Old World
during the time period of the game. I doubt it is a coincidence that the High Elves and the Eldar are getting prominent updates at the same time. The Elves were not originally one of my favourite factions in WH, but they have grown on me. I'm thinking of kitbashing High Elves with Eldar, as well as some Idoneth and Lumineth, to make my own type of Elf.
Double-post: The Old World Almanack has more articles on the High Elves, such as on the different High Elf realms
and the various updates done to the miniatures
. I particularly like the description of Chrace as "the Elven army for Orc players".
I do like this. I get that it's nice to see returning favorites — and we do see returning known names, like Korhil or Ungrim — but it is also true that things always revolving around the same set of figures would be odd.
I'm looking at the High Elf models currently up for pre-order
, planning ahead for what to buy for future conversions. The White Lions of Chrace have very dynamic poses, but I'd like convert them into swordsmen. The Sword Masters of Hoeth look really cool, but they are likely still single-piece miniatures, so I'd have to get Elven swords from elsewhere. The Lothern Sea Guard isn't available yet, but those are some of the coolest Elven spearmen I've seen, so they are a likely purchase. On the AOS side, I'm eyeing some of the Lumineth and Idoneth units, especially the spellcasters and the Namarti Thralls/Reavers, who I'd like to convert into brutal Dark Elf warriors. I'm also thinking about which of the Eldar in 40K would be easiest to convert for a fantasy army. Farseers and warlocks are an obvious choice, while I'd also want Yvrain and the Visarch. The Corsairs for Kill Team could possibly be kitbashed with the White Lions.
Double-post: Cado Ezechiar returns with a new model, along with some new companions
. I particularly like Sissendra, and would like to use her as Lord in a Vampire Counts army.
A quick look at his wiki-article has his first appearance in the 7th edition Chaos Warrior book, so 2008. Surprisingly late, I admit, but GW's games are still fairly edgy and Grimdark. As much as they pretended at one point to have gone Tamer and Chaster, they haven't that much altered the tone of the actual lore.

The fact that the new Wights are called Barrow Guard and Barrow Knight rather than Grave Guard and Black Knights indicated to me that the old ones will be rereleased later under their original names. As for how they will be released? The narrative scenario in the Empire's Arcane Journal is set in 2280 and, looking at the old Vampire Counts army book, the closest Undead event is twenty years later in 2300 when "Duke Maldred of Mousillon dies from the Red Pox and his city falls into decay. None claim the castle and the Undead walk amongst the ruins" which would be very appropriate. As for the Skaven, their Army Book has "Many small towns near the Blighted Marshed are razed or disappear altogether" at 2302-2320 which they could expand upon.
