So, if you read the Rps You and I want to see thread, I posted an idea there that just won't leave me alone.

The basis of this idea is to take the various Gundam Universes and combine them with a, sigh, somewhat highschool setting with Original Characters.

So, the setting is a timeline (which I haven't decided on yet) with various space colonies orbiting Earth. Each of these smaller colonies is focused around a special university and unlike their big cousins, which are stationary, these move from Lagrange point to Lagrange point. There are around fifty of them, in various sizes.

The characters involved are attending one of these schools, which is in a bit of a pinch. It's lacking funding, and in order to save it, the school staff has to start up its old Mobile Suit Competition team, which it disbanded around five years ago. Our characters are the newbies thrust into combat without any prior training and have to work out how to work as a team and not get their butts kicked by the far more experienced teams going against them.

Now, the Mobile Suit Competitions which are run in essence amount to really futuristic paintball in Space (and on Earth). Each of the mobile suits are built with special armor and weapons which reacts when hit with appropriate damage but it is nearly impossible to damage the cockpit. The weaponry involved shoots special, competition approved rounds, including physical and beam rounds, which can do damage to the suits but don't damage the surrounding area as much.

Now, our school...well...doesn't have the best mobile suits lying around. Actually, most of what we will be using is considered junk and is the dregs not thrown or sold away. So we don't start with the Nu Gundam for example.

Now, any thoughts on this? I'd like some input before I decided if this will work or not.

Discussion is here!

We should totally start off with a Ball, and somehow get it into the regional championships through a combination of skill, Newtype hax, and good old fashioned cheating.[lol]

I mean, uh... But yeah, let's do this!evil grin

The Ball doesn't work on Earth however...

We will give it legs, then! Legs we have swiped from, say... The Big Zam! Because those will totally fit with enough duct tape. >.> <.<

Yeah, I don't think the Ball would be the best choice (even if we're supposed to start with junk!)

Fine, fine... An old Zaku or GM, then.tongue Or if we really want to start with a rusted pece of junk, a Leo.[lol]

Yeah, anything considered 'old' or not the latest thing.

So that would include the Leo, the GINN, the good ole' Zaku II, a Tieren...

You could also include things like the Zudah, which would be looked down on as unreliable but its all we would have to work with.

Well, technically the Turn A is "old"... *shot*

Uh, but yeah. My vote would of course go towards a good old Zaku, but... Yeah.

Oh yeah, might as well get this out of the way first then.

No G Gundam, No Turn A, and we'll see about the stuff from Gundam Age.

So, basically Girls und Mobile Suits? Sounds like it could be amusing.

G Gundam mobile fighters are exceptionally powerful due to the fact that G Gundam is an unashamed Super Robot show, not a Real Robot show.

We can have elements of G Gundam for sure but not the actual Mobile Fighters.

Honestly, the Shining Gundam can take on almost any regular robot with the exception of Turn A.

EDIT: And yes I'm pretty much lifting a bunch of the plot from Girls Und Panzer but it's a loose enough plot it can be fun.

Shit, I don't know anything about Gundam (except for the fact it's about robots), but the idea sounds cool.

That could actually make for an interesting point of view. Most of us would have to play at being un-knowledgeable, where as you could do it genuinely.

This is going to be a fairly light hearted RPG, not a very serious one, well most of the time.

So expect the usual anime antics. Moerin I expect will have a field day with it.

EDIT: Actually, we could consider the various Gundam Universes as TV shows in their own right in this universe. Strato's character could be the one member of the group who has no interest in it but gets dragged along with it.

Rather then TV shows, I'd prefer a more G-Generation/SRW approach, all shows happened simultaneously in a vaguely canon manner. No need to actually worry about the specifics of how it would work beyond perhaps a vague timeline though. It would probably need a good deal of Power Creep, Power Seep as well.

So I'm wondering if you guys won't really have a problem with a character that'll be basically a gate to countless amounts of exposition, even if the idea of a person who doesn't know a thing about this new world getting dragged into it sounds like fun. Mix that with a high school setting, and you've got some very interesting possibilities.

I am somewhat considering having the various pilots from the animes be the teachers in the various schools but I'm not sure it would work out. [lol]

I'll be working on the profile setup later today I hope. I'm hoping to have around four to five pilots at the beginning and we can expand that later.

Could I get what each of you would 'like' to pilot so we could try and get a fairly balanced team? Or it could be unbalanced as all hell and we try to adapt [lol]

I CALL THE ZUDAH!

EXPLOSIONS! EXPLOSIONS EVERYWHERE!

^^ I for one have no problem with it. You're basically asking if I would have a problem with having a legitimate reason to geek out repeatedly.

Well, in this setting the Zudah wouldn't blow up but you'd likely have the engine conk out on you if you pushed it too far. Other than that I don't have a problem with someone using it. It would be a suit left abandoned if you could get to the other models.

I'm sorta thinking of having the RPG start with everyone getting hauled into the Student council room, told that they're doing Mobile Suit piloting for their club and are then told to search the colony to find the things as they were...misplaced. I'm sure lots of hijinks can ensue from that point [lol]

I can see an old mobile suit just sorta sitting out in space, being tethered to a space colony for god knows how long.
