Hilda eats her salad, while simultaneously keeping Sven in check. She sighs, lights up some fire, lights up some more fire, and extinguishes the two flames with a yelp.
"Sven! Lance has a meeting at..."
"No prob I...."
"That's two hours from now! And we need another heal..."
"Why..."
"Just"
She begins pushing him out of the room with the help of some fire magic nipping at his heels, "Sorry you guys, it turns out Sven's late for a very important date. Well almost."
She gets him all the way back to the portal and dumps him through. She sighs and walks back to the front of the mansion to do some people watching before she left.
Bet you didn't see that comingKitchen
Anne grabbed the napkin she was looking at and held it over her missing cheek. "I think if I tie a napkin onto my face here, it can cover up the missing bits. That way, I can eat without having to worry about it." She then lowered it, but held onto it just the same. "It's nice that no one here seems to care about it, but better safe than sorry, right?"
When Hilda and Sven took off in a hurry, Anne just nodded after them. "Best of luck with it," she said.
Nothing here for Grimhilde because I'm stuck with her. Might edit in a reply for her later.

Ozzy's brow raised at the suddenness of Sven and Hilda's departure. "Really?" he asked, frowning. "Well... that's an awful shame." He sighed, sounding quite genuinely disappointed. He planted his elbow on the table, propping his head up with a fist against his cheek and using his free hand to wave cheerlessly. "I suppose it must be exceptionally important. Ta-ta then."
He watched the doorway for a few seconds even after the two had vanished from sight, then slowly cranked his head back to face the other two. "How she's going to get him sobered up enough for an important date, I can only imagine. Perhaps they have the convenience of magic to handle such a thing." Ozzy continued to frown at the table, even grinding his teeth slightly before grabbing his root beer and taking a long drink, to little effect besides giving him the need to burp. Still, when he set the bottle back down, he said, "Two more. Well, that's that." then did what he could to perk back up.
"So, making yourself a bit of a false cheek? Well, that's an... idea. In that case, yes, you'll probably want to avoid using any strings off of my smelly clothes." As another small kitchen-tending machine ambled on by behind his chair, Ozzy stopped and then seized the thing with his tail, lifting it up and passing it to his hand, where he gripped it delicately and suggested, "Do you think perhaps that one of these could retrieve a string?" he set it on the table, "Then again, they're probably only equipped to handle food orders, but you never know."
They'll turn your world around[Cellar —-> Kitchen]
"Okay, so, um," Began Tamara, as she walked up the stairs. "First, uh, while we were outside Bianca wanted to duel me." This made Claire raise an eyebrow, but she remained silent as the young girl continued. "I think she wanted to teach me how to use a sword or something, I dunno." Tamara went on. She paused ever-so-briefly and added "I won, though." with just a tinge of pride. "Sounds... Interesting... But how exactly did you 'duel' her?" Said Claire, seeming slightly concerned. "Oh," Responded Tammy. "With sticks. I picked up a stick 'cause I was bored. Then she picked one up and, um, yeah." She shrugged. "I see... Well, I guess you showed her who the greatest swordswoman around is." Joked Claire as she ruffled the young girl's hair. "Hey! Quit it!" Laughed Tammy. "Anyway, that wasn't even the best part! Later, me an' Samira an' Aseyu, we saw a willow-the-wisp! And..."
It was about then that they entered the kitchen, and she trailed off as she spotted Ozzy. Compared Anne or Xavier, he wasn't all that unusual, but she hadn't met him before and that meant he was something new to investigate. She smiled at him but continued to stare, and gained a certain curious look in her eyes, not unlike when she had first met Anne. "Ah, hello everyone." Said Claire, as she entered the room. "Nice to see you again Anne, Xavier," She continued, nodding to each. "And... You, sir. I don't believe we've met yet. This is Samira, Tamara and my name is Claire." She walked over and offered to shake his hand. "And you are..?"
Not entirely dead.[Kitchen]
"Ah," said Ozzy, staring at the machine as an auspicious smile crossed his face. "Here's an idea. All right robot, I'm famished and I think I'd very much enjoy a piece of string right now. A nice clean string, of reasonable length and thickness. I don't particularly mind what material it is." He glanced at Anne as though to confirm with her that the material didn't matter. The little automaton waited impassively, until Ozzy commanded it, saying, "Thank you, that'll be all. That's all; go. Shoo, shoo!"
It wasn't until he started to wave it away that, finally, the machine picked itself up and scuttled off, leaving Ozzy to shrug uncertainly at Anne and Xavier. Almost immediately after, the tell-tale sound of voices and ascending footsteps arose from the cellar stairway, preceding the arrival of not one, or two, but three people; a little girl, a young woman, and a much older woman. The little girl kept her eyes locked on Ozzy, which he returned briefly, tipping his head downward to give her a looming—though ultimately playful—stare, until the younger woman spoke up.
When he was approached, he smiled, discreetly sucking in his breath, then rose from his chair, pushing it back with one foot . "Oh, wonderful!" he said, stepping forward and shaking Claire's hand, "Claire, Samira, Tamara; I am..." he took another breath, then bowed, "Oswald Prosper Leonard Orozco, and I am delighted to make your acquaintance."
Straightening back up, he took a step backward, then used his tail to pull his chair around and leaned against it. "What brings you to the fair lands up above, if you don't mind my asking?"
They'll turn your world aroundKitchen
Anne watched with a rather odd look on her face as Oswald asked a contraption for a piece of string, apparently trying to trick it into thinking that he wanted to eat it. After it scuttled off, she glanced at Oswald. "Are you sure that's going to work?" she asked, "Something tells me those machines aren't quite that stupid."
At that moment, another contraption finally brought her the salad she'd ordered. She nodded at it before picking the bowel up and placing it next to her venison. When she looked up again, the rest of her previous group had shown up. Claire and Tamara were apparently focused on chatting up Oswald, so other than a headbob of greeting she said nothing.
Outside
"I did have a plan, but this sounds more interesting than what I had in mind," Grimhilde retorted, before adding under her breath, "Not to mention somewhat easier."
She then fell back into silence, attempting to come up with something to up the ante. Her mind drifted back to Aseyu's description of an earlier conquest. If what she had said was true, as much as Grimhilde doubted it, then it gave her one more thing to torment the little puterelle about. Not to mention, it would make for some great propaganda, given the church's reaction to such interactions.
"You know that girl you supposedly slept with earlier?" she asked, a smile forming on her lips, "It just so happens that I know her. She happens to be a...ah, political rival of mine. And you were nice enough to give me a piece of information to slander her with. Even better, you've also let me know of her presence here. There's nothing stopping me from hunting her down and tormenting her with the interesting tidbit I just learned before absolutely ruining her public life with it." She paused briefly. "But, should you win our little duel and care about her at all, then not only will I stop objecting to your presence, I also promise to simply let the secret lie here, at this building. Is that better?"

"I'm hungry!" declared Tamara, brightly, as a response to Ozzy's question. "And anyway, there's not that much to do downstairs... Aside from watch movies, I guess." She shrugged. "Go find a seat, Tammy." Said Claire. "I'll get you some Mac and Cheese, okay?" The girl nodded ad went off to find a chair, momentarily getting distracted by the little clockwork machines scuttling about. "We are, of course, pleased to meet you as well, Mr. Orozco. Or shall I call you Oswald?" Continued Claire. "Which do you prefer?"
Tamara, meanwhile, tried to catch one of the little machines that scurried across the room, though it persistently eluded her. She soon gave up, and with a small sigh, found herself a chair and sat not far from Ozzy, still trying to get a good look at him.
Not entirely dead.[Kitchen]
Ozzy raised his hand as though he were about to wave the question off, but held off, instead using his hand to idly scratch the side of his muzzle. "I..." he began, carefully, "I think 'Oswald' will do fine enough, though if you'd really like to, 'Mr. Orozco' wouldn't put me off." He thought for a moment, a smile creeping onto his face. "Yes... that would be fine too."
Refocusing his attention away from fantasies of respect and prominence, Ozzy said, "That aside, I'm glad you're here to eat, or at least this little lady is." He glanced at Tamara, who was chasing one of the service machines around the room. "Heh he heh... how cute. You see, we just lost some of our old company; off to some sort of meeting in another world, another place, another time, however that manages to work itself out. I just think it's nice to meet new people, especially for, em, someone like me." his smile wavered a bit, becoming a little uneasy. "The more you do something the more comfortable it becomes, I hear, so... yes, this is... good."
His sudden discomfort was diverted by the appearance of a kitchen bot carrying a plate with a single spaghetti noodle sprawled across the center. Ozzy couldn't help but stare in confusion as the automaton carried the plate over to his spot at the table and set it down next to his sandwich. He shook his head, "Well that's peculiar. I never asked f-" he stopped, his eyes suddenly lighting up in realization. He tipped his head back with a long, "Ooooh." then he laughed. "A string of spaghetti, damn. Anne, looks like you were right; these little machines are smarter than they look."
He chuckled a bit more, then sighed and turned back to Claire. "I don't suppose you've got any string on you?"
They'll turn your world around[Kitchen]
"String?" Said Claire. "No I don't have any... Though, if these machines are anything like the others in this place, they should just obey any commands given to them..." She spied the near-by note that explained that the kitchen drones were made to obey cooking-related directives, then snapped her fingers at one of them to get its attention. "I'm going to make Thai Fish in a Bag." She said to it. "Make sure you bring me a generous amount of yarn... The other ingredients are not required at this time." The machine paused for a brief moment and then scuttled away. "Also!" Said Claire, before the drone had left. "Get me a bowl of Mac and Cheese. And maybe a glass of fruit juice..?" She looked over at Tamara, who nodded in response. "Yes," Continued Claire. "A glass of juice as well." The clockwork machine then scuttled away to wherever it was the drones went to fulfil their commands.
Hopefully that will work." Said Claire, turning back to Ozzy. "What did you need string for, anyway?" She looked over at Anne. "Are you two working on something?"
Not entirely dead.[Kitchen]
Samira watched the antics of machine and people with a wry smile, leaning against a wall and thinking. "Oh," she said to one of the drones before it got away, "er, whatever you're making, could you try and make sure it's okay for me to eat?" She'd trust the little drones on the details. For all she knew, their meat was magicked up from thin air. The drone's chirp seemed to be an affirmative. Good enough. To Claire, she added, "I'd offer to help, but my husband refuses to let me near the kitchen. Too many burned dishes and minor fires."
"Anne," she then said. "Pleasure to see you again. Oswald, a pleasure to meet you."
[Dining Room —> Outside]
Since everyone else seemed to have wandered off, Esa made her way out and joined her son. "Evening," she said.
"Evening," Koyel replied. "Thinking of getting out of here?"
Esa laughed. "Place is making me soft."
They'll probably be gone next post unless something happens.
[Outside]
Aseyu laughed, leaned close, and said, "you can't prove anything." Anti-magic flickered at the end of her fingertips, just in case that mirror had been recording their conversation. "If claiming she slept with another woman would have given you an advantage, you wouldn't have waited for her to actually do it. You'd have spread the rumor." She shook her head. "Try again, hon."

The conversation drifted, and Xavier found himself just sort of hanging around in the background. He didn't see anything that looked like a random shit drawer, and a few more seconds' thought made him decide that even if he did find one, it wouldn't be good to go digging through it. Privacy and all that.
...You know, he had been here a while, hadn't he? It was probably time for him to find Mai and the two of them to head back to Vermilion. Yeah, probably.
[Outside]
"Hey," said Mai, nodding to Esa. She turned to Koyel. "If you want to get going, that's fine. I'm think it's time I should be heading out, too." She glanced at the house for a moment. "Once I find Xavier, anyway."
She turned back to Koyel. "In any case, it's been nice talking with you." She extended her hand.

In response to Clair, Anne held up the napkin to cover her missing cheek again. "It's so I can hold this napkin up without having to use my hands. I'd rather not risk disgusting everyone else when I try to eat since I'm missing a cheek, so I decided that this was the best way to avoid it." She put the napkin back on the table. "Of course, everyone else is saying that they don't care, but I think I'd rather be safe than sorry."
To Samira, she simply nodded. "It's nice to meet you again as well. If you're wondering about that little...um...thing with Aseyu earlier, nothing came of it. I'm okay now."
Outside
Of course Aseyu would just pooh-pooh her claim. Grimhilde, however, wasn't going to give up just yet.
"Maybe I can't prove anything," she replied, "But, here's the thing: I don't have to. Rumors are odd things like that; regardless of its truth value, once one gets going it will ruin the reputation of whoever gets saddled with it." She smirked. "And that's not factoring in that the majority of Theoland's residents are uneducated peasants. They can't do anything to disprove it, but they have no reason to doubt it."
Her smirk turned into a full-on evil grin. "The fact that it's likely to be true is just icing on the cake. After all, I have no reason to doubt you. You managed to break her curse, after all. What reason did she have to not sleep with you?" The tone of her voice sounded incredibly doubtful it even happened. "Unless you're not as good as you say you are...."

Aseyu laughed and said, "I said it before and I'll say it again: if you had the power to spread that sort of rumor, you'd have already done it." She looked Grimhilde in the eyes. "So, what else you got, your majesty, hmm?"
After a moment's confused hesitation, Koyel guessed the expected response and took Xavier's hand, though he didn't know to shake and instead clutched it. "Pleasure meeting you," he said. "Wonder if we'll meet again?" He let Xavier's hand go. "Stranger things have happened."
His mother nodded in agreement. "We shall see. I must admit, I have not left Netho as often as I should... it was good to get out. Though if you'll excuse me, I must find my wife... hopefully alive and carrying supper." She smirked. "It had better be good, or she shall not soon hear the end of it."
[Kitchen]
Samira nodded thoughtfully at Anne and said, "that's a pretty good idea. And I'm glad you and Aseyu came to an agreement, even if it wasn't the one she wanted." She smiled. "I sometimes worry she won't know when to let go, but she usually does. And when she doesn't, she at least listens to me." Then she cleared her throat. "But look at me, reminiscing like the old woman I am. How have you been since?"

"Yes," Ozzy said with a bit of a sigh, "I tried that. Unfortunately, the little doodads are a wee bit wiser than I've given them credit for. They seem to know that a plain old string of thread isn't going to do much in someone's gut, so," he gave a humorous smile, lifting his plate slightly, "they sent me a noodle instead."
With another sigh, he set his plate back down then folded his arms, murmuring, "Even so, perhaps I wasn't specific enough. Maybe it would work if I..." Before he finished, Claire had already placed her order, potentially solving the issue herself, leaving Ozzy to blink in surprise. "Oh! Thanks! You certainly figured that out quickly. How cunning."
He glanced at Anne when Claire asked what the string was fore, and Anne explained it well enough, though he did add, "Right, Anne is just being courteous to everyone else in the room, and whether any of us would be bothered, or would've had the right to be bothered, I'm sure we all can appreciate a polite gesture."
Ozzy heard someone speak his name, and his eyes fell upon the older woman, Samira. He nodded at her and smiled an odd, nervous smile, though she hadn't said anything that would've made him nervous. Even so, he seemed relieved when Samira set her attention on Anne and not he himself. He considered sitting back down and tending to his impossibly well-wrapped sandwich, but as he turned around, he noticed Xavier standing quietly by himself.
"Is everything all right, Xavier?" he asked.
They'll turn your world around[Outside]
Mai shrugged. "Maybe. Maybe not. I doubt I'll be coming back to one of these things, but you never know." She glanced at the mansion and frowned. "Guess I'd better go find Xavier and tell him I'm ready to go, or he'll be wandering around here for a while, looking for me." A small smile tugged at her lips. "Which could pay him back for dragging me here in the first place, but that'd be a bit too mean."
[Kitchen]
"Oh, I'm fine," said Xavier, waving a hand. "I'm just thinking that I ought to get going soon. I've been here a while, and it's getting late, and I..." He paused and rubbed the back of his neck. "...kind of hauled along someone who didn't want to come, so..." He grinned sheepishly, briefly unfolding and refolding his wings. "Yeah."
He glanced at the door. "Mai's probably still outside," he muttered to himself. "Hopefully she's not bored."
[Kitchen]
"Oh, going. Right right, of course, that makes sense." Ozzy couldn't help the sense of disappointment permeating through his voice, but he tried to move past it quickly. "Yes, I suppose it is late, and this place seems quieter than it was earlier. It does seem to be the thing to do of the hour, what with Hilda and Sven leaving... and Andrew is probably gone too..." he shook his head and smiled, "Anyway. It must be nice to be able to jolly on back to wherever you're from after a night here— I myself am not sure how long I'll be staying; I was trying to find the owner of this place or whoever set the entire thing up, but," he held his arms up, then let them fall back to his sides, "to no avail, I'm afraid." He tipped his head to the side for a moment, eyeing Xavier thoughtfully. "I don't suppose you've managed to... eh... never mind. I'll find them when I find them."
Ozzy glanced downward for a moment, then back at the dragon man, and began slowly, "Xavier, before you go, I... would you mind sating my curiosity for a moment? You see, I've never quite seen someone like yourself before. If you'll pardon my saying—I don't mean to be rude— but you look to me like a dragon wearing the clothing that I might see someone wearing in my own world. Perhaps you've heard that before, I don't know... but, I keep wondering: what is it like, where you're from? For you?"
They'll turn your world around[Kitchen]
Xavier blinked and rustled his wings a little. That was unexpected. "Well, um," he said, "I'm not unique or anything. My species, chimeras, came out of hiding — long story — and revealed ourselves to humans..." Xavier's voice trailed off and he tugged his frill a bit as he ran the numbers in his head. "...something like forty-five years ago. So by now, society's had time to kinda-sorta adjust."
He rustled his wings again as he thought. "It was a bit rocky at first, since humans were initially scared of us — I mean, look at me — but now it's okay-ish. At the very least, nobody heads to the other side of the street when they see me coming down the sidewalk." Damn, that's a stupid metaphor. "It's still not perfect, but hey." Xavier flared his wings briefly. "You take what you can get."
He paused, then began picking at a scale on the back of one of his hands. "That... is the kind of thing you're looking for, right? I mean, I don't really know what it'd be like to be in a world where we never existed, so I'm not really sure how it could be different."

Claire glanced over at Samira. "Well, I wasn't actually going to make Thai Fish in a Bag, I just needed one key part of the meal preparation." She smiled. "You may have just asked the drone to get you some yarn that you can eat." She chuckled softly. "Of course, if anyone here actually wants some Thai Fish, I can make it for you. It's a fairly spicy meal, though." She said, looking around a everyone.
Tamara, for one, shook her head. She was still waiting for her Macaroni and fruit juice, and didn't want whatever Tie Fish in a Bag was. The young girl was still looking at Ozzy, too, as though trying to figure him out.
Soon enough, some drones came back and handed Claire a generous spool of yarn. She picked it up and noticed the small note it had been placed on as the drone left. "Apparently," Said Claire, as she read the paper. "This yarn is not only edible, but is hypoallergenic, vegan-friendly and kosher." She paused. "I'm not entirely sure how that's possible... But nevertheless," She handed Anne the spool. "Would you like some help with this?"
Not entirely dead.[Kitchen]
Ozzy shook his head, then nodded, ending up doing a little of both. "Oh, no no, I- eh, yes, I mean. That's exactly what I was asking for. Very interesting too." he added, with an earnest look in his eyes, though his mouth was set in a rather disconsolate frown. "Enlightening, even. So you do live with humans, then. I had suspected that much... and you're part of an entirely separate species..." he looked away, his eyes wandering across the room until settling on one of the kitchen bots, cleaning a dish. "An entire species. Getting along fine— or, well-enough—with people in forty-five years? That's... that's very impressive Xavier."
He gave the dragon man a smile, though the earnest look had left his eyes almost completely. He glanced down at his hand—resting on the table next to him—and at his food: a cold, slightly squashed steak sandwich that Ozzy had an unreasonably difficult time unwrapping, and a particularly long spaghetti noodle. With the scent of all the other food wafting about the kitchen, his own meal was beginning to seem less appetizing. Looking behind himself at Claire, Ozzy raised his hand slightly and spoke, "Actually, Claire, if it's not too much trouble, I'd love to try that fish."
Turning back to Xavier, he asked, "So, you're leaving especially soon then?"

"I've been fine. Made myself dinner, met some new people," Anne responded to Samira. "Nothing exciting has happened, but at least besides the thing with Aseyu it's been mostly pleasant." She started messing with the napkin again. "Might even get some payback depending on how Aseyu's getting along with Grimhilde."
At that point, the yarn Clair had ordered was brought out, and as opposed to Oswald's piece of pasta she actually got yarn. "I think I can handle this myself," she said as she took the spool, before she started pulling out a length of yarn.
Outside
Grimhilde's smile just got even bigger. "Dodging the subject, are we?" she asked, "Are you implying that you didn't, in fact, get anywhere with her?" She made a mock show of her next statement, sarcasm practically dripping from every word. "Oh wait, that's blasphemy! Certainly, there's no woman who would ever turn down you down! You just have so much charm!" She then returned Aseyu's glare with a completely serious face. "Except two did. Within the span of...oh, a couple hours?...no less."
She then leaned in close. "And how do you know that I would have already done it? Have you considered that I simply hadn't thought of it before now? In fact, I completely credit you for the idea." She leaned back, before twirling her hand around and glancing at it. "It's such a shame, really. If you had kept your mouth shut, your mate could have gotten out of here with her reputation intact, and maybe a moment of pleasure if you did manage to bed her. But what did you do instead?" She looked back at Aseyu, grin at its biggest. "You told me about your exploit, presumably because you thought it would make me jealous."
She crossed her arms before making a quick bark of laughter. "So what have you gotten out of all this? Nothing. Nothing, that is, except for the knowledge that you've completely wrecked someone else's life for absolutely no gain at all. Congratulations."

Xavier cocked his head to one side and flared his wings briefly. "Most likely," he said. "I've had a good time here, but it's probably about time I got going, and Mai's probably waiting for me, too. So..." He waved his hand vaguely and rustled his wings. "Yeah."
He glanced at the door for a moment before turning back to Ozzy. "Still, it's been nice meeting you, and I wish we could've had more time to talk. And, hey, maybe we'll meet again. Who knows? Stranger things have happened." He grinned. "Which, given where we are..." He chuckled for a moment before extending his hand to Ozzy.
[Kitchen]
Ozzy lifted his head, looking at the ceiling, at the house, and then back down to Xavier. He gave the dragon man a tired smile and took his hand in a shake. "Indeed they have." he answered,"Indeed. It's been nice meeting you as well Xavier. Safe journey and the best of luck to you, wherever you might be heading."
With that, he let Xavier go.

Esa and Koyel made a few last farewells then quietly left.
Aseyu had to deal with Grimhilde, however. "Fine," she said, "and may the dead gods take you. We'll duel. If you win, I leave you alone. If I win, you forget this little idea of yours." She glared at her. "I'm still not sure you have a chance of making the rumor take root. Creativity clearly isn't your strong suit if this idea didn't come to you. But still," she grinned, a vicious predatory smirk, "it'll be satisfying to make your day a little more painful."
[Kitchen]
The phone in Samira's pocket beeped. She checked it, and looked crestfallen. "It seems," she said, "I must be going." She looked very sad of this. "It was a pleasure meeting you all." To Anne in particular, she said, "take care, and good luck." Then, after a moment's nervous hesitation, moved to give her a farewell hug.
Kitchen
Anne just unraveled a bit of the yarn when Samira announced that she was leaving. She looked up at the older woman and nodded. "Farewell, and good luck to you too. Maybe we'll meet again someday."
Her reaction upon realizing Samira wanted to hug her was a decidedly mixed one. She hadn't been hugged since she got cursed; not even the dwarfs wanted to touch her. Not even she herself was sure if she wanted to get hugged. In the end, however, this was a completely different situation to the one with Aseyu - it was just a hug. She shrugged, before getting up and gingerly hugging Samira.
After she was done, she turned to Xavier. "Farewell to you too, Xavier," she said, repeating her farewell headbob, "Tell Mai I said goodbye when you meet up with her again, please?"

"Exactly what I wanted to hear," Grimhilde responded, before motioning towards the door into the house. "Now, let us get this fight over with."
With that, she entered, not bothering to wait for Aseyu.

"Well, there's got to be something around here," said Xavier, frowning. He began looking around the kitchen; maybe they had one of those "random shit" drawers that seemed to accumulate everything. That'd be the first place he'd look for a string. "What do you need it for? Maybe something else will work." Hmm.
"But you don't need to worry about me," Xavier added, waving a hand. "I'm not really hungry right now, anyway."
[Outside]
"Hey," Mai said to the newcomer as she pushed herself up to her feet. "Mai Xiang." Seemed like everyone had just stopped coming. Oh, well. "You lost? Seems like most people who are here are those who get lost." She shrugged. "Kinda odd, but this place is probably literally in the middle of nowhere. And nowhen, for that matter. You could be anywhere, anywhen, and still wind up here." She waved her hand around vaguely.
