Okay, so they decided to make a story-driven comic from a game with no plot. So they hired a writer known for a webcomic that usually doesn't have a coherent plot for six panels. Did they expect the two to cancel out or something?

They hired a writer for a comic that manages to do well with a consistently incoherent plot. That's good business sense.

...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.

I just got caught up with it. I'm liking it so far, but I might be a little biased since it's got two female co-stars who don't suffer from a lot of shortcomings of female protagonists in most media.

Chris Hastings and Anthony Clark were pretty much perfect artists for a story like this. I love how the realism of Hasting's art style brings out the awesome goofiness in what's actually going on.
