The Beginning

The Holy Grail War. A battle for a single wish fought by seven Servants and seven Masters. It's continued for over a century with no clear victor. For the first time ever the rules have been changed. The Akashe has been rooted into the other worlds on the otherside of the Kaleidoscope. Other worlds with other heroes summoned in the form of teams.

The Red Team.

The Black Team.

The White Team.

The Gray Team.

They will do battle for that same purpose. For the single wish on the Holy Grail.

Cressfall City, Japan — Church

The one called Jeanne d'Arc, summoned as Ruler, will be the eyes over the battlefield. With her abilities as the class of Ruler she can dictate the flow of the war. However, in another world, she wasn't as fortunate since that city was blown to pieces.

"Now then..." Jeanne fiddled with the door to the church while wearing a casual garb. "That should—"

The sound of wood snapping. The door fell off its hinges only to land with a loud thud in the middle of the room. "I don't think I should even bother with this." she bent down to pull the door up by the handle. This time instead of putting it back, she placed it to the side. Hopefully it wouldn't fall over this time. ""Now I suppose I just wait." the Saint said as she took a seat on the pew in the back of the church. Her eyes wandered to the clock hanging above the stage in front of the church. "Just a little more." she mumbled to herself.

Keane Residence

Now was the time to take flight! Now was the time to cream everyone else that wasn't herself in this Grail War! "Okay then." Ashley looked at the materials in front of her then back to the window. It was night. It was night time, yes, obviously now it was time to summon the Servant.

"Ahem..." Ashley relaxed. The youth clasped her hands together after taking in a deep breath. "I call upon a Servant to aid me in battle! I call upon a warrior that can protect me against all!" the incantation was completely wrong but it would work nonetheless. "Come and heed my summons!!!" with that a white light burst through the blackened room.

Fortunata Manor

"Hmmm." Romana examined everything that she needed to participate in the Grail War. Medicines, ingredients for herself and her Servant if need be. "Alright then." with her mental checklist finished, it was back to summoning. "Hmmm." Romana muttered to herself. What was the chant?

What was it?

OH right.

"SERVANT, COME TO ME!"

There were a blinding flash of light and the lights in the room went out as electrical currents began to crackle trough the air and smoke begun to rise, further obscuring sight.

Amongst the shadows two shapes began to take form, revealing themselves as the smoke dispersed. A man dressed in a frightening mask and a long overcoat and with a large knife in his hand and by his side stood a young whitehaired girl who looked into the distance.

The man spoke directly to Romana "Are you my Master?"

Maron Nagoya, Inside Her Apartment

Maron bounced slightly as she made the last few adjustments to the circle in the middle of her living room. All the furniture was pushed to one side, the windows were open, and only a few lights were on—Maron had learned in an unfortunate accident that it was best to minimize everything that could turn into flying debris when performing magic.

It was hard to deny that she was a little excited—this was the first real magic circle she'd made, and she was hoping it was a success. According to the book, this was some kind of summoning ritual to participate in the 'Grail War'...despite the name, Maron was convinced that nothing too bad could happen. After all, it's not like it was hard for her to find the book with the ritual in it.

Bouncing back, and sending a small stream of prana into her shoes as a just-in-case measure, she took a deep breath. A grin flashed across her face as she proclaimed the last few lines, finishing with a not-strictly-necessary—

"Come forth!"

Cu Chulainn

The ritual worked perfectly as a flash of brilliant light heralded the arrival of a blue haired man. Cu Chulainn, legendary hero of Ireland, stood where the magical circle had been. He looked around the room for a moment to see where he was before locking eyes with the only other person in the room. He stretched a bit before asking the obvious question.

“You summoned me” he said more as a statement of fact than a question.

Cu looked intently at the girl who had summoned him. She didn't exactly fit his image of an almighty mage but then again he didn't much care so long as she was cute and gave him a shot at the grail. And as far as he could tell this girl fit the first criteria nicely. Cu put his hand on the girls shoulder before he spoke once more.

"Hope you know what you're getting into here" he said as he grinned widely "because I don't intend to lose this war."

Maron's Apartment

The magus was temporarily blinded by the flash of light, and it took a few milliseconds for her to properly process what exactly had happened. Usually her circles didn't give that much of a re—

holy crap why was there a guy there?!

Maron squeaked slightly when the older man addressed her...oh. She'd summoned him?! Maron didn't think she even had enough power to summon a cat, let alone another human—and she didn't even know him—

Forcibly clamping down on her panic, she opened her mouth to speak—only to go beet red again as a hand came down on her shoulder.

"Um. I'm—Maron, sir, I'm not really sure how I summoned you, I just found this book in the library and wanted to try it out—"

The brunette froze as the rest of his words processed.

"...wait, there's an actual war? I thought that was just a thing that made it sound cooler..."

She looked down.

"Um. I don't think I know what I got into, sir, but if it's an actual war with killing and things I don't want any part of it." Maron bit her lip as yet another thought occurred to her.

"...but I don't know how to send you back, though, so is there anything I can do to help until I figure it out? Since this is kind of my fault? And who are you anyway, if I can ask?"

Cu Chulainn, In Maron's Apartment

Cu let out a chuckle as the girl went red. He listened to her confusion before he responded.

"Just my luck, a kid who has no clue what's going on" he sighed "Ok, I'll give you the quick version in a moment."

Cu took his hand off her shoulder and effortlessly moved a chair that had been placed out of the magic circle into the middle of the room and sat down. How was he going to explain this to someone who had no idea what was going on.

"Ok, all you need to know is that there are more people like me being summoned by magi like you. Three command seals somewhere on your body are the proof of this contract and they allow you to command me to do anything you want or to perform astounding acts such appearing by your side from across town in an instant. Other than that the only way to end the Grail War is to kill the other Servants" he finished his "quick" version.

"There really isn't a way for you to get out of this war short of me dying" at this line his face darkened for just a moment "and I don't intend on dying so soon."

He returned to his carefree grin. She had asked who he was and was willing to answer but would it be a good idea to tell someone who didn't know what they were getting into who he was considering the power identity held in this war? Luckily for Maron, Cu wasn't one to worry about such things.

"My name is Cu Chulainn, hero of Ireland" he said with a smile "and don’t worry, I’ll keep you safe and get that wish.”

Petenshi Uizado. The Motherfucking Mayor.

The CD player was a secondary touch. The Mayor had everything actually set up that he technically needed—the proper robes of a Wizard, the summoning circle, the blood, the incantations... Jay-Z was just a nice touch to get into the mood.

Just vibe with me...

He raised his arms, shooting lightning bolts out of his fingertips. "SPIRIT, I, GRAND WIZARD PETENSHI UIZADO, CALL THEE FORTH!!" Pschowww, Pschoww! Anyone watching from outside could see the dramatic lightning bolts coming from the windows; the people had just sort of given up on caring about that sort of thing. The catalyst, a bootleg copy of the popular MMO Sword Art Online, crackled with blue light. The wizard grinned eagerly. His Saber would come forth.

The wizard's room darkened. For a moment the wizard might think that he had been transported to some dungeon deep in some abandoned online game- flashes of light eminated from the circle, the symbols blurring together as they began to whirl.

Then to the wizard's annoyance his audio system was overidden and another theme began playing.

A burst of energy black blue in hue, a crackle of lightning and....

The darkness cleared and in the centre of the summoning circle there stood a boy, a boy dressed totally in black with a black sword sheathed behind his back.

Kirito looked up and examined the nerd wizard standing before him.

"I ask of you..."

"Are you my master?"

Oh hell yes. It worked. Sure, his Saber here was a little on the small side, but he'd seen worse in his time. His current Tykebomb kill-count was somewhere between four and seven, by his reckoning? There was... what, the homunculus of that one dude, and then the other girl with the antimage gun, and the girl that bombed a library... Huh. Well, in any case the Saber here would no doubt still be a friggin' badass.

"Indeed I am, Saber! My name is High Wizard Petenshi Uizado, the Mayor of Cressfall City!" Petenshi grinned and extended a hand to shake. "Great to meet you! The chef is making food a few rooms over, care to get acquainted over some dinner?"

Maron's Apartment

Maron blinked, nodding as she absorbed the information.

"....Okay, that makes sense," she said finally, glancing down at herself. And it would also explain why my hand started hurting a few hours ago, the magus added mentally, glancing at her hand and the elaborate insignia it bored.

"...wait, a wish?" she finished curiously. "That's what everyone's fighting for, then? A wish..." She trailed off, looking thoughtful.

Cu Chulainn, Maron's Apartment

"Yep, a wish. Anything you want the grail can give you" said Lancer "it could give you world peace, a fortune, fame, a house, a boyfriend, really just anything."

Obviously at this point he was just messing with her as he finished his list. He half wanted to tease her more but decided it might be better to save it for later. After all he needed to save some energy to beat the other Servants. He wondered idly who the others might be.

Returning his gaze from a window to his new master he said "Well then, now that we have the introductions out of the way Maron, should we head to the church where the Overseer is located?"

Maron, Her Apartment

Maron, as expected, blushed when Cu mentioned a "boyfriend", but otherwise just nodded.

"Yeah, sounds good. We need to register with them, then...? And how do you want to do this...looking for the other, you called them Servants...?"

For a good person, Maron was adjusting to the whole "war" aspect surprisingly quickly. She figured it would start to sink in in about an hour or so, shivering a little at the thought.

Felicia Weinberg, Weinberg Residence

Felicia took a deep breath as she made her final adjustments to her circle. Whatever happened, after this...she would matter, even if just for a little while. It took time to make a genuine change in yourself...better to use magic to force the issue.

"Servant. Come forth." Felicia's voice was surprisingly steady, but her small frame shivered slightly as prana flowed through her and into the circle.

Y'all wanna hear a story I ain't never told ya 'bout The Kid?

It's a story of a big war Kid got drafted into. A War for a Holy Grail. Now, I ain't no treasure hunter, but a prize like that... could change a lot. See, you get the Holy Grail, you get your one wish. Thing is, it ain't that simple...

To get the Grail, Kid's gonna have to kill all the other Servants. Servants like him, summoned from another world and molded into a class. Like Kid's: Saber. So I gotta ask you, Zia...

You think The Kid has anything he'd kill for?

Wealth?

Power?

Nah... The Kid don't want that. Kid'd want somethin'... less material.

The summoning circle sparks with blue light, like an unstable Core. It focuses in on the Crest of Caelondia, sittin' in the circle without a bearer. That'll be fixed soon enough. The light grows bright—and The Kid's there.

He gets up. He's got a Cael Hammer in one hand and a Marshall's Carbine in the other. I guess I rubbed off on him. He picks up the Crest, and asks a single question. The question all those summoned as a Servant know to ask.

Are you my Master?

Cu Chulainn, Maron's Apartment

Cu had yet another laugh at his master's expense as she turned red. This was going to be fun. He gave a moments thought to how he would locate other Servants but quickly decided that trouble would likely find him anyways so he just needed to be alert.

"We should head to the roof if we are going to the church. I can't exactly walk the streets without being noticed" he said gesturing to the blue body suit, if that's what they called it, that he wore. "Besides, I think it'll be a good time to show you a glimpse of what I can do."

His plan was just to run and jump rooftop to rooftop while carrying her. Hell of a way to make an impression on the uninitiated he thought while a smile forming on his face. It was the fastest way to get to the church too.

"Hope you're not afraid of heights Maron" he laughed as he moved toward the door.

Maron's Apartment, The Roof

Maron shook her head slightly at her Servant's grin, but nodded, moving to follow him. Bouncing up on the balls of her feet, she replied smugly,

"Nope. I do lots of climbing. And jumping," she demonstrated once the duo got out onto a balcony. Since her Mystic Code was active, she easily made the jump to the balcony railing, then the roof, beaming down at Lancer. It was hard to beat high places, that was for sure.

"Heh. Coming, Chulainn?"

Felicia's House

Felicia closed her eyes briefly as the circle lit up, opening them to see her new Servant. A boy with a hammer and...was that a gun...?

She gave a nod in answer to his question.

"Yes. Felicia Weinberg," she responded, shifting slightly from foot to foot. Somehow, she was...nervous. Suddenly, the very real possibility that she might die—that this boy, who looked only about as old as she did, might die—seemed all too vivid.

The Kid

The girl's scared. That much is obvious. Looks like a bull in the headlights. The Kid notices, says some encouraging words. Tells her she's gonna be alright.

Kid goes on to explain who he is; what he's done before. A simple description, no flash or substance. Ain't nobody would brag about what The Kid's done. He tells her he's a Saber. Tries to keep her calm and tells her that if he can pick it up, Kid can use it. Then, after talking for awhile, Kid realizes he could get her calmer faster. Countless hours with Zia taught him about how girls work. He asks her about herself.

Kirito smiled and shook the mayor's hand. This guy didn't strike him as being particularly odious though he did give the impression on being slightly on the strange side. Abit like some online game nerds Kirito had met during his time in SAO.

It seemed that people tended to go a little strange when they spend too much of their lives on the net......but that was not important, the man had just offered him dinner which wasn't a bad way to start things off.

Good enough I guess

"That is fine by me master Uizado, lead on".

Felicia's House

Felicia seemed to have calmed down some when The Kid started talking about the war. Rules, procedures, skills: those were something she could hold on to. So absorbed was she in processing the new information, it took her a few seconds to realize her Servant had asked her a question.

"...Me?" she affirmed, looking slightly confused. There wasn't much to say about herself, really. She'd had an insignificant little existence—except maybe the magecraft, but even then she wasn't too special or anything. Felicia frowned slightly, idly twirling a piece of hair.

"...um...well, I'm a magus, but I guess you know that already...I'm good at...shadows and hiding and stuff..." The teen trailed off with a blush. This wasn't what he'd asked her about! He wanted to know what she was like.

...was it a problem that she didn't really know anything else to tell him? She was shy, but a Heroic Spirit would probably be able to deduce that by himself.

"...er...I like books?" she tried again, slightly half-heartedly.

Cu Chulainn

No hesitation, he liked it. Maron just leapt to the roof with little worry and practiced motion. So she was skilled at such physical activity. He laughed a bit. It was odd for a mage he thought but who was he to judge. The smugness in her voice only made him feel that much more competitive.

"Oh, think you're fast huh" he got a little fire in his eyes "let me show you what I can do."

With that he jumped to the roof and, sweeping Maron off her feet to carry her, dashed over rooftops. Cu didn't really know where he was going but he could figure it out pretty quick. He was going at a few times what the average person could do even reinforced. It helped that he was a Lancer, the fastest in the war bar the occasional Assassin. He had a smug grin of his own as he looked at his Master.

As he took his another leap toward the church he said "So, do you really think you could keep up with me Maron?"

Maron

Maron yelped slightly as she was swept up, the sound swallowed by the wind as her Lancer ran while carrying her. This...was really kind of awesome, she managed to think. The teen could go pretty fast, but this was...

Slightly out of breath, she managed to reply with something approaching a laugh.

"Hah, n-no. Don't think...I can beat that. You have an...unfair advantage...though," the teen managed to force out, rather loudly considering the wind. Suddenly she blinked, twisting around in his grip.

"...Ah, Chulainn? This is the wrong way," she informed him bluntly. "The Church is...west."

Cu Chulainn

He paused. He could of sworn he was going the right way a moment ago. The universe, as always, was out to make Cu annoyed. He regained his bearings and looked west. Even in life Cu Chulainn was fate's plaything to a degree. A sigh could be heard before he spoke once more.

"Ah, that would explain why we have not made it there yet" he said before bolting off toward the church in earnest this time. So Maron he spoke through the mental Master/Servant link give me some more information on you, it would come in handy to know just who my master is you know.

Maron

Oh! That's useful, Maron responded through their link. Nice to not have to shout. She paused, biting her lip as she thought.

Me...hmm, there isn't too much to say about me, I don't think. My dad taught me the basics of magecraft, and I can do some neat things with gravity alteration...actually, it might be good to see if it works on you...uhm, and my tennis shoes enhance my athletic abilities; I activated them right before I summoned you in case I needed to get away quickly.

The last sentence carried with it a slight tone of embarrassment.

Cu Chulainn

Get away quickly huh his eyes bore a trickster's spark were you worried you were going to summon something scary. He thought for a moment of something that might be scary to summon. The first thing that popped into his head was his former mentor, Scathath. That woman was...well, that was an interesting time in Cu's life that he sometimes chooses not to think about.

Luckily for you I was summoned though he thought while moving his mind from his former mentor to his current master. At that moment though they arrived near enough to the church that Cu landed on the ground and stopped carrying Maron. "Looks like the Overseer is here, wonder who they'll be" he said as he looked to Maron before walking toward the church. Honestly Cu would have enjoyed more time getting to know his master, she seemed like an interesting girl and more than fun to tease of course, but sometimes the Grail War just trumped things.

The Mayor

"Right this way!" Petenshi lead his Servant from the back room into the main Dining Hall of the Mayoral Manor, where a large dinner was set up for the two of them. "So Saber," Petenshi sat down and sat his napkin on his lap, "Who are you? What's your, ah, Kit, so to speak?"

The Kid

The Kid smiles at the mention of books. Now, not to toot my own horn or anything, but Kid mentions me. Mentions stories. He stops for a second and asks Felicia to tell a story instead of just talk about herself. Everyone puts a little of themselves into a story, even if it isn't about them.

Yes, Zia, this story is true! I don't need none a your laughter.

Maron

Maron smiled slightly. I tend to do...unsupervised experiments. Better not to mention that those were the only kind of experiments she did, living alone and all. After one explodes you get very, very good at planning escape routes.

She spoke aloud as the duo reached the church.

"I'm not sure, actually...hmm, what kind of people do they ask to supervise a war like—this..." Her voice trailed off suddenly, although it was entirely possible that it was because she spotted the broken door.

Entirely possible, if not true.

Felicia

Felicia nodded absently, frowning slightly. Well, one could call it an improvement over "scared witless".

Unfortunately, she didn't know too many stories. Not ones she could really tell just anyone...although she supposed her Servant wasn't just anyone, was he? Still, talking about her life...there wasn't even much to say.

The teen shook her head slightly, eventually coming back from whatever realm of thought she was in. Maybe a story about school...? In the end, she just repeated a quick anecdote she'd overheard one morning at school—no one had told her, of course, but she was good at listening.
