When I was a kid, I remember watching the old "Flash Gordon" serials on Channel 62 in Detroit. I'd bet Martin Pope, the creator of "Vorto the Pirate," has logged his fair share of hours doing the same. And he must've watched "Star Wars" quite a bit too. "Vorto the Pirate" is a rock 'em sock 'em, fast paced, witty, nicely drawn space opera in the old school style. With a few #$@% thrown in (which, personally, I find a little jarring). Laugh out loud funny at times, and always clever. It's a blast.
Modern sensibilities and humor coupled with retro art? That's always a fun combination. It reminds me of the video game VVVVVV just in how it's executed given the medium and storytelling conventions. If you're any kind of gamer, you should check it out. I think you'd get a real kick out of it. Does your comic have an RSS feed or something similar to help readers keep up with it?
Great comic. I really liked the limited use of colors and the linework was amazing. The story, while not normally the sort of thing I read (being more of a sci-fi/fantasy fan), was intriguing and I'll be checking up on this comic again soon. Very retro style in terms of art, it almost reminds me of old newspaper comic strips I used to read as a kid. Very well done comic overall, something that should definitely be checked out.

Start thread for the sci-fi adventure strip, Vorto the Pirate.
