Soooo, about that AoT simuldub premiere...
Naturally, fresh off the heels of AB weekend. Licenses announced were Sakura Quest, Yamada And The Seven Witches, and the Black Butler movie. The cast for KanColle was also completely announced in the week leading up. And one that wasn't discovered until today is that they also have the new Eureka Seven recap movies.

... Yikes. Well then. .... this week COULDN'T have been easy for the Toonami crew. That sounds like a complicated shuffle of shows to fill the schedule with.
EDIT: I may have made a mistake.
Anyway, I'm curious about the Eureka Seven movies. Rumours indicate that they may be trying for a Rebuild of Evangelion-style thing and they'll cover stuff before and after the show.

I hope that there is far less of Holland kicking Renton's ass because he's Locked Out of the Loop in the first movie. Divided as it was, Astral Ocean at least treated Ao better as the Na´ve Newcomer.
Yeah, that was the thing that almost made me give up on the series. Like, I get not really liking Renton, and not wanting him to be there...but repeatedly humiliating him and literally beating him up out of jealousy? Especially since the most the other characters do is quietly try to discourage him after a while.
The show gets really good later on, but the first quarter-to-third is a little difficult to sit through.

That's... not encouraging.
The movies will probably cut way down on it, if only because three movies simply don't have the time that a 50 episode series does, especially if there really is going to be a lot of new stuff. Even the compilation movie kind of glossed over it...and then added in an explanation for why the characters are so immature.
That, and those damn kids. In either language you're watching, they're annoying little shits.
Granted, that's kind of the point, and Ren doesn't really like them either, and they eventually get better.
It's a hard series to get into, the first twenty episodes almost try to push you away with the slow plot, large cast of characters, and lots of suffering on our two protagonists, but it does pay off and the animation is very consistent despite how large the series episode count is and the music is fantastic.
Locked Out of the Loop is probably one of my least favorite and most frustrating story tropes, especially when characters who are knowledgeable act like total pricks about it. So yeah, it made the first third-or-so of Eureka Seven hard for me to stomach.
Couldn't find a Your Name (Kimi No Na Wa) thread so this will have to do.
Dub is okay I guess, it's not Ghibli tier but serviceable.
Definitely will still reccomend, the visuals are as stunning as Shinkai's reputation says it is.
Funimation finally released their schedule for shows they will be dubbing for the Spring Season:

They're dubbing Sakura Quest!? Awww I'm following that now! Maybe I should've waited a few more weeks.
Silver Guardian is a weird pick. It's one of those Chinese co-productions, like Spiritpact and Hitoshura. They tend to be really bad. Although from what I've heard, Silver Guardian is more just kind of "eh" than anything.
Thanks to Amazon stepping up their exclusive game, Spring Season was especially slim pickings. Funi's Blog and on ANN it was said there's still more announcements to be made, so maybe Funimation will also be dubbing Love Tyrant?
Funimation tends to choose animes that have a small main cast or animes that are 1-cour, so it won't be too stressful on the already-hectic recording process.
Funimation is hinting on twitter that they secured the rights to Hyouka.
:) I wish all Kyo Ani animes get dubs.
Oh Hyouka is a great get, its probably my fave Kyoani anime.
And then on the day Sakuracon starts they announce the rescue of Record of Lodoss War!
I...I'm in shock. Ed Blaylock (Fuhrer Bradley, Sengoku, Sebas Tian) just passed away from cancer this week. RIP...
Oof. Rest In Peace.
Ugh noooo he had such a distinctive voice and was really good!!
For those who don't have a sub Funimation is currently running a promotion where you can sub to their streaming service and only pay 99 cents for the first month.◊
More simuldubs announced: Brave Witches, Kado: The Right Answer, Kenka Banchō Otome: Girl Beats Boys, Love Tyrant, The Royal Tutor, Seven Mortal Sins, Suka Suka (also known as World End or What are you doing at the end of the world? Something something save us, how will this ever fit on a DVD cover), Tsugumomo, and Tsuki ga Kirei.
