Gotta echo the sentiment: Many thanks for translating these! They're pure gold, I tell ya. I think my favorites are Irina's face manipulation technique and Chiba's crosshair bangs.

Poor Yako. If there's anything I've learned from Jump Ultimate Stars and the 15 or so chapters I've read of Neuro, it's that the demon is kind of a sadistic jerkass. And I think that "nu" paper is actually a handkerchief, if I have the correct manga in mind...

[up]I don't think my Spanish is good enough so I'll just wait a bit longer. And I really do appreciate that you guys are spoiler'ing untranslated stuff.

Okano's knife shoes are actually a pretty good idea. Since anti-sensei material is rubbery, you wouldn't have a problem with the blades damaging or being damaged by whatever surface you're walking on, and since they'd be hard to notice from above you might be able to walk right up to him, acting like you're speaking normally, and stomp on one of his tentacles while he's looking at your face. I think that might be good for at least one attempt, though you'd need to pair it with something else to finish him somehow.

If there was any way to restrain him somehow, kinda like a humane version of Takaoka's plan, it might work just fine. Maybe damage him with those shoes and shoot him afterwards?

The translator missed a couple of the code names, you may have noticed. Gyaru English should probably be something like English Gal. That would probably get the meaning across better for people who don't know what Gyaru style is. As for Karma's code name, that's harder to say. In Japanese it's "chuunihan". It may be a reference to "chuunibyou", or "middle school second year syndrome", which is not really a disease, but just an observation about the way teenagers of a certain age act. Specifically, with extreme arrogance like the know better than adults, or pretending to be anti-social when they're not, or deluding themselves into believing that they have supernatural powers... Hmm, one of those things is not like the others, but there you have it. "Chuunibyou" is sometimes shortened to just "chuuni" so I guess "chuunihan" would be like "middle two and a half". They're basically saying Karma is like that, but taking it to the next level. This isn't the first time such a reference has been made in regards to Karma. His profile says he'd like to invent and spread a new diseases, "chuusanbyou" or "middle school third year syndrome". Well, I'm not entirely sure about that, but it seems likely.

These oversights are rather trivial, but even small errors, inaccuracies, or strange translation choices bother me, because it's unlikely that the manga will get any kind of corrected translation, at least not any time soon. Sure, I make mistakes in my translations, but I can always go in and edit them as soon as someone points it out. I may be a little too unforgiving. The only really significant translation error, at least by my reckoning, was from chapter 74.

I'm surprised the translator didn't get the chuunibyou code name.

They were issues with both translations, the spanish and the english one. For Karma, the spanish translation used "Vandaló de medio pelo", which is basically, a sophisticated way of saying "half-assed delinquent", rather than translating it. English tl didn't catch it, and they settled on what you said before, which is completely different to the chuuni translation which is correct. It happened, albeit in a minor scale, with both Kurahashi's and Chiba's nicknames. Kurahashi had "Wavy haired beetle-girl" as her nickname, yet both translations went for something different, and Chiba's was GYARUGE hero, which, like the Gal one of Nakamura, isn't that hard to catch, at least to me. Happended too to Fuwa and Okajima, who in the english tl have phrases instead of nicknames, yet in the spanish translation, gave them Manga Freak and Chronic Pervert as nicknames instead. In those cases, I'm not sure which ones were correct.

It is how it is.

It's stuff like this that gives Assassination Classroom its reputation for being top tier in terms of translation difficulty. Let's go through each nickname in order, and I'll see how well I can explain them.

Sugino: "Yakyuu baka"/"Baseball freak." A pretty straightforward translation. Most people know that baka means idiot, but the ancillary meaning of someone who's completely obsessed with something to the point of neglecting all else is also common.

Sugaya: "Bijutsu Noppo"/"Artsy bean pole." Bijutsu just means fine art, so this is a perfectly reasonable and direct translation too. The name's accurate too. Sugaya is the tallest student in class at over 180 cm.

Karasuma: "Katabutsu"/"Strait lace." A straight laced person would be the literal meaning. Good instinct on the translator's part to change it to a form that sounds more like an actual nickname.

Isogai: "Binbouiin"/"Poor committee member." Eh, accurate, if a little unwieldy. "Poor chairman" might have sounded a little better.

Hayami: "Tsundere sniper." Not really any need to translate this one, is there? After all, what kind of philistine would you have to be to not know the term Tsundere?

Maehara: "Onnatarashi kuso yarou"/"Womanizing bastard guy." I think I know who gave him this nickname, but to say it would give away the ending of the SCRAP puzzles. Anyway, wouldn't just "Womanizing bastard" be better? A literal translation would be "Womanizing/Playboy/Lady-killer shit bastard."

Mimura: "Kinoko director"/"Mushroom director." Again, there's really nothing to say.

Kurahashi: "Yurufuwa kuwagata"/"Flouncy stag beetle." This was probably a tough one. Yuruyuru is a mimesis meaning an extremely relaxed pace, and fuwafuwa means... a lot of different things, but most pertinently whimsical or floaty. So yurufuwa would be a combination of those two, like how tsundere is a combination of tsuntsun and deredere. Unless the translators know something I don't, which they very well might, I'm pretty sure that's what was intended. The world flouncy certainly sounds accurate to your ear, but by the word's actual definition (gathered up and pleated) it doesn't seem right to me. I'd probably have gone with something like "Cloud head."

Yoshida: "Home base."

Muramatsu: "Hechima"/"Loofah." I'm not sure what Matsui means by this, but hechima has an alternative figurative meaning: useless.

Itona: "Korokoro agari"/"Rolling riser." Korokoro can also mean fickle, which might fit Itona better with how he changed his physical form several times, and agari can mean rise, but it can also mean end results. So, I think the intended meaning was something more like "The end result of multiple changes," or as a more elegant translation, "Final form." Still, I do kinda like this translation. It sounds like an oblique reference to a certain something that rolls around and looks upwards.

Terasaka: "Takaoka modoki"/"Pseudo-Takaoka." Seriously, did Matsui go on message boards and learn that people were mixing up those two, or was it intentional that they'd look vaguely similar from the start?

Okuda: "Doku megane"/"Poison glasses."

Kayano: "Eien no zero"/"Forever zero." Personally, I'd prefer "Eternal zero," but I'm just highfaluting that way. Man, she must have been seeing red the entire day. [lol]

Kataoka: "Rin toshite sekkyou"/"Stern lecture." Literally, this would be "Dignified sermon" but "Stern lecture" sounds better to be sure.

Nakamura: "Gyaru eigo"/"Gyaru english." Gyaru comes from the English word gal, but it refers to a specific subcultural style in Japan. I'd prefer "English gal" because the word gal still evokes the same kind of image that gyaru represents.

Nagisa: "Seibetsu"/"Gender." Yeah, nuff said. Actually, no, not enough has been said. Just where is Matsui going with this? It's one thing to want a protagonist that is very distinctive from other shounen protags, but given how much subtle foreshadowing this manga has, something that keeps coming up so blatantly has to make you wonder. Remember that two page cover from chapter 50 with a bunch of the students watching fireworks together? Look closely at everyone's clothes. Nagisa is wearing a woman's kimono. I'm not kidding. You know what it meant historically for a man to wear a woman's kimono? It meant that they were a gay male prostitute.

Okajima: "Hentai shuumatsu ki"/"End of perversion." This is actually a pretty weird nickname, and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. The translator seemed to ignore the last bit, the ki. Throw that in, and it becomes something like "Perverted end times." Perhaps someone had the world's imminent destruction on their mind when they came up with this?

Fuwa: "Kono manga ga sugoi!!"/"This manga is awesome!!" Yes, that's literally what it is. Don't forget the exclamation marks!

Karma: "Chuu ni han"/"Half of middle 2." This may be a reference to "chuunibyou," or "middle school second year syndrome," which is not really a disease, but just an observation about the way teenagers of a certain age act. Specifically, with extreme arrogance like the know better than adults, or pretending to be anti-social when they're not, or deluding themselves into believing that they have supernatural powers... Hmm, one of those things is not like the others, but there you have it. "Chuunibyou" is sometimes shortened to just "chuuni" so according to Japanese sources "chuunihan" would be like "half of chuunibyou." They're basically saying Karma is like that, but he's halfway to growing out of it. This isn't the first time such a reference has been made in regards to Karma. His profile says he'd like to invent and spread a new disease, "chuusanbyou" or "middle school third year syndrome."

Chiba: "Gyarugee shujinkou"/"Adult game protagonist." A gyarugee is a computer game full of beautiful women. It doesn't really have anything to do with the standalone term gyaru. Yes, they are usually adult games, and they usually have a protagonist who is faceless, or who has their face shrouded in shadow, so the look kinda fits Chiba, I guess.

Kimura: "JUSTICE." Not a nickname, it just gives me such joy to type it. His name is JUSTICE. JUSTICE Kimura. Seigi no mikata. A name you cannot help but say as if it were written in ALL CAPS.grin

Yada: "Ponytail to chichi"/"Ponytail and breasts." ...Yeah.

Okano: "Sugoi saru"/"Amazing monkey."

Also, a little error, on the hospital form in the beginning, the form should read "Kimura Justice" there, but on the book application form from the end, that one should read "Kimura Masayoshi," hence why Koro-sensei says on that page that Kimura is already using the regular reading of his name.

No. It's Justice. Or Jasutisu, in romaji. You may wonder how that's possible. Well, when it comes to names, any kanji can be read in any way you desire. It's screwy. Yagami Light is probably the most famous example of this.

Visual kei otaku, plump home ec. master, gamer girl, Ms. "Test of Courage", and the world's best iPhone app got off scott-free this chapter. Unacceptable.

*stares in awe at the nickname analyses*

Well that explains why this chapter took so long to get out. "Pseudo-Takaoka" and "This manga is awesome!!" are the best. Whichever student came up with the comparison for Terasaka has my gratitude for finally bringing it up. [lol]

I think all of these potshots at Nagisa's appearance will accumulate into a relevant plot point, and it's probably not gonna be a pretty one.

I've updates the SCRAP puzzle again, this time with big hints and answers. Now that I've solved the last two parts, I should have those ready for consumption soon. However, they're both considerably difficult to solve. The last one gives literally no hints at all for how you're supposed to solve it. Coming up with a way to make the last one solvable without having the volume in your hands is going to be tricky.

The SCRAP puzzle for volume 7 is ready. This one should be a lot easier than the last one. Fortunately, even though the content of the puzzles had to change dramatically to make the transition into English, this time I was able to keep the puzzles themselves pretty much identical. The fourth and final part should be ready very soon.

4-Volume Continuous Special Project

Assassination Classroom X SCRAP

3. The Horrific Weapon

I carefully searched the nearby bushes and discovered a pen and memo pad.

They must have flown over here because of their momentum...

Also, a bunch of footprints like someone ran around trying to pick stuff up.

I see, so that's why there were no external wounds.

It's all because of the centrifugal force of a school bag swung with all of someone's strength.

From the design of the pen I can presume the gender of the culprit, and I can match up the handwriting in the memo pad.

Of course, they didn't belong to the first discoverer, Hayami-san.

"Leave it to me." I said, and left the school building behind, heading towards a particular corner of the grounds.

The obstacle course Karasuma-sensei set up for our training.

If my reasoning is correct, the culprit is the person who comes here every morning for some light exercise.

We train our bodies so we can be ready to do an assassination at any time.

Just as I expected, the culprit was hanging around there.

"I did it..." That person said, with a dazed expression.

But why... do something like that?

I needed to hear the culprit's motive.

Place the correct number of letters into each space marked with a number to make the situation clear. ? marks the answer.

A: (1)(?)(3)
B: (?)(3)(2)
C: (?)(2)(2)
D: (?)(2)(1)

These hints point to the culprit's motive, hidden somewhere in this volume!!

A:
Inn + ought – uh no

B:
Alloy + think – (keynote – (aerobe – baro))

C:
This Japanese word puzzle will take your buttocks in a circle.

D:

"Ma" makes a songbird
