TLP Crash Rescue - Fixing prematurely launched TLPs and pages

Go To

Prematurely launched pages and pages that weren't fully fleshed out at the point of launching, are a big problem. Since these usually share several problems at once, this thread is aimed at re-running them through the TLP for fixing - the usual fix - or cutting them if they are too bad.

Problems this thread deals with include bad names, not enough/bad examples, unclear description, etc.

For the interested, here's a list of recently created pages. Launches

Note: Please do not request a mod to unlaunch drafts that don't have any issues besides lacking a launch notice/24hr launch notice. While 24hr launch notices are mandatory, there are a few exceptions to the rule. If you see a draft's sponsor launch a TLP without an announcement, it's best to remind them of our TLP Guidelines first. If they continue to repeatedly launch drafts without a launch notice, you can report them on Ask The Tropers or the TLP Community Issues thread.

Methinks we need a method for dealing with people creating then blanking pages (Book Of Eli - ~nelec; Plastic Addict S 1 E 32 - ~RCFU200; Pan Sexual - ~Neutral Person); it's becoming somewhat frequent recently.

As the guy who brought up UsefulNotes. The Kingdom Of Spain, it's probably obvious that I see it as a problem, and as it seems to serve no real purpose I support cutting it entirely, for the reasons you mention when it was first added to the list.

(No comment when I mentioned it because I didn't want to unduly influence any other input on the subject. Since there's been no sign of input to be given... tongue )

UsefulNotes. The Kingdom Of Spain: I support the cut. As it's now, it's useless. Incomplete page with ZCE and Word Cruft. I think having useful notes page on Spain is just fine and sufficient.

Backbeat Switch: What does it even do in namespace Music? It looks like an attempt in a music trope, but it's very, very poor. CUT. Its cretor could try to run it through ykttw. Personally, I can't quite grasp its intended meaning from the description.

Nuke Kingdom of Spain. It's in terrible shape, and anything that's necessary for discussion of use in fiction could probably be incorporated into a more general Useful Notes Spain page.

Filed that article on the cutlist. Which is getting a bit backlogged again, I see.

Another stub: WebVideo.Douchebag Chocolat

It's recent, so there may be hope it will be fleshed out, but it seriously need tropes.

I just came across a new trope called Ground Wave that was launched today without going through the YKTTW process first. It has a fair number of examples, although some of them could use more detail. Also references similar tropes and is already indexed.

The editor who I messaged about Doomed Hurt Guy may need help at re-YKTTW'ing their trope methinks.

Also, since ~Drake Clawfang asked why I ask other people to crosswick and index their pages rather than do so myself, I'll give an explanation here; it's a) because it's the launcher's responsibility technically to put up their pages properly, b) because I have a lot of pages to look after and can't deal with all the work myself and c) if people see other people fixing their omissions, they frequently get the impression that they don't need to deal with it themselves. I do index pages whose creators are unavailable myself, though.

The Emerald Party - Possibly, I only see two tropes there, though.

Ground Wave - there are literally HUNDREDS of Video Games were that ripple effect happens, mostly platformers. But can I think of one off the top of my head? Some RPG enemies, especially in Action RPG's, do moves like that, too. Again, I can't think of any right now.

@Septimus about Doomed Hurt Guy: Help how? I like ykttwing new concepts, so I may volunteer. I just need to know what the trouble is. Because honestly, ykttw phase was pretty intuitive to me from the start.

Regarding Marine Corps Yumi, seems like rcmtagg09 already took care of that. XFllo, I think they don't know how YKTTW operates.

Also, regarding the indexing problems I have mentioned over the thread, I have to wonder whether the problem is not in the help page but rather the indexing message - "indexing" is potentially ambiguous to new people.

I'll note this YKTTW here, since it may end up in this topic in the future (there is a name dispute and one whether a manual poll disagreeing with a name can override 5 hats).

Today's worklist:

  • Cannon: Stub work page; creator messaged.
  • Demonophobia: It's a page for a game whose mainspace article was cut back in 2012 during the 5P cleanup. I do not see any indication that it was a repost of the old article, but it's certainly a stub - creator messaged. Will flag, since I don't see a 5P verdict on Demonophobia on the Content Violations Report tool.
  • Doomed Hurt Guy: Anyone for re-YKTTW'ing this?
  • Gods Not Dead: Work page with only an image; creator messaged.
  • Sentimental Drunk: A trope without YKTTW or indexing. Also, I distinctly remember that Tony G being already cited for creating such poor trope articles.
  • Praise The Lord: Stub work page; creator messaged.
  • Shadow Realms: Stub work page; creator messaged.
  • Sucks To My Dick: A stubby work page by ~A Ghost; also, it was cutlisted by ~St Fan with the reason "Stub work page, unindexed and with no wicks. Plus it's a yaoi fanfic with underage characters which certainly wouldn't get 5P approval.".
  • Troy Has A Camera: Stub main page; also, upon rechecking, it seems like it's a work, so I'll just cutlist and ask ~timdadanon to repost it in the proper namespace.
  • Virtual Boy Wario Land: Stub work page; creator messaged.

[up]Yeah, I first hesitated to submit the page to 5P approval, but since it was also a stub, it was two marks against it, so I deemed it faster to cutlist it straight.

As the guy who launched Beast: the Primordial, I wholly admit to wanting to be first out of the gate following the announcement of the game at GenCon. As such, I'm fine with it being pulled until more is stated about the game.
