Prematurely launched pages and pages that weren't fully fleshed out at the point of launching, are a big problem. Since these usually share several problems at once, this thread is aimed at re-running them through the TLP for fixing - the usual fix - or cutting them if they are too bad.
Problems this thread deals with include bad names, not enough/bad examples, unclear description, etc.
For the interested, here's a list of recently created pages
. Launches
Note: Please do not request a mod to unlaunch drafts that don't have any issues besides lacking a launch notice/24hr launch notice. While 24hr launch notices are mandatory, there are a few exceptions to the rule. If you see a draft's sponsor launch a TLP without an announcement, it's best to remind them of our TLP Guidelines first. If they continue to repeatedly launch drafts without a launch notice, you can report them on Ask The Tropers or the TLP Community Issues
thread.

Just noting that You Know Nothing About X's cut request was declined.
Anyhow, worklist (up to Funny.Ben 10 Ultimate Alien):
- Campus Special Investigator Hikaruon: Work page without enough good examples or a description; creator messaged.
- CTE Playthroughs: While I agree that this page needs massive cleaning, I do not have the knowledge to do so.
- Mythology Porn: Has gained some examples in the meantime. Can someone verify that they aren't already on the Mythology Gag page?
- Present Meets Future: One last grace period.
- A White Heron: Giving a last grace period.
Also, Humanoid Robots. Stub trope page without examples and lots of redlinks.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYou Know Nothing About X: I think I'm beginning to understand the complaints of whether the Cut Masters ever look at the pages in question. Some can be iffy as to whether to cut, but some are obvious.
Humanoid Robots: Very stubby. Redlinks caused by either not getting the name of the trope right or not potholing properly, or the wiki either not having that trope or not having it under that name. Ridiculously Human Robots is already a thing.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettNew worklist:
- Flight Rising: Stubby work page; creator messaged.
- You Know Nothing About X: I'll look into it tomorrow.
Part of the problem is that "You know Nothing" etc, is dialogue, and I've noticed those are intensely disliked for trope names.
The description is short and patchy. The examples basically reflect the format of the trope, with one person saying to another 'you know nothing'. This is an event that occurs in stories, but I'm not sure if it works as a storytelling device as it is presented.
You have characters going off in a rage, other characters telling the naive/inexperienced one that they don't know what they're talking about, characters reflections on other characters' knowledge or lack of it, and flat-out to the face criticism. There's no real common thread then one character used the format of the title to address another character somehow.
On the technical standpoint, there's an Example Indentation problem, and whoever added the Laura Ingalls example didn't include the name of the work it appears in. (Little Town on the Prairie. If the page comes up to standards, it can be added in.)
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettDialog titles aren't just "intensely disliked", they're prohibited, though I can't immediately find a staffer reference in a "quick and dirty" site search.
That quibble aside,
is pretty much my assessment of "You Know...". Kick it back to YKTTW, since it's been declined for cutlisting (if I'm not thinking of something else, anyway
).
Actually, I think that You Know... should still be cutlisted, but with a more expansive cut reason.
Today's worklist (to Funny.Epic Mickey):
- The Annihilator: Stubby work page.
- Aurora Danse Macabre: Page consisting solely of Zero Context Examples.
- Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet): Stub article.
- The Knight And The Rabbit: Does this work actually exist? Otherwise, I'll have to cutlist it.
- Paybacks Are A Witch: Stub work page.
- Phantom Fighter: Stub work page.
- There and Back Again: Stub work page.
- The X Men Files: Stub; creator messaged.
The Knight And The Rabbit: A lot of Monty Python and a little Wonderland kicked up, even a bit of King Arthur. A little Jefferson Airplane on the third page of Google Search. But nothing with that exact title that I can find, even after pulling both 'the's'.
At best, I'd say it's not publicly available at this time, and should have been started in the Sandbox.
Edit: Specifically searched Amazon. The first result as a rabbit call with more words in the name, the "Toy Vault Mini Rabbit Plush with Big Pointy Teeth Plush" was the second.

Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettEvening worklist is up:
- Boyd Rice: Stub work page; creator messaged.
- British Nazis: Stubby trope without YKTTW.
- Trials of Desperation: Stubby work page; creator messaged.
- Youth Code: Stub work page; creator messaged.
British Nazis really seems like a The Same But More Specific of Evil Brit. It's a cut for me.

Agreed. Also message the overeager newbie about this YKTTW thing these crazy kids are into nowadays.
You Know Nothing About X, well, I'll leave the cut reason to people with better grasp on english then.
what of Wringing Hands Of Nervousness though? post 1501.
Is dast der Zerstorer? Odar die Schopfer?Wringing Hands Of Nervousness: I don't see how that's a story-telling device. It's something the author uses to show people are nervous, and it does happen in real life, but it's a result of actual tropes happening and a demonstration of mood, not vital in any way to the story. You could get the same thing with a cold sweat, a tic, sped-up breathing -you get the idea. The one RL example is people sit on chairs.
There's a page note asking for stuff that's usually handled in YKTTW.
On format and layout, the Literature example isn't Wikilinked properly at all and should have been fixed. There's a lot of 'does this', and while they are adequately filled out, that's just asking for ZC Es down the road.
The Live Action Film Folder needs renaming to Film -Live Action, and makes me question how many pages this guy looked at before making this one.
There's more, but I think that should do for now.
Cutlist or send to YKTTW, and message the creator.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettToday's work- and replieslist (up to Awesome.Kate Daniels):
- BIBLE: This webcomic page doesn't look like it's under the correct title.
- ELITE 4: Reported the editor due to the grammar, formatting and complaining issues; does anybody want to take a stab at a good page? Otherwise, I'll just send it to the cutlist.
- El Presador: Stubby work page in wrong namespace.
- Humanoid Robots: Aye, straight duplicate of Ridiculously Human Robots. Cutlist or redirect?
- The Knight And The Rabbit: So this doesn't seem to exist. Moving to Darth Wiki or the Cut List?
- Mythology Porn: Taking care of that this evening.
- Wringing Hands Of Nervousness: That actually looks like a trope to me (telling that a character is nervous), but the example section is bad. Kick it to YKTTW
- You Know Nothing About X: I'll take care of that this evening.
Regarding Elite 4, just cut it. It's not worth saving. I've suspended its author.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"The Knight And The Rabbit: Since it has been expanded since I last checked, I vote for Darth Wiki unless the creator can point to where it exists. It also needs a description expansion, effective ZCEs filled out, spelling, grammar, and example indentation fixed. "Diesel Punk Fairy Tale" MIGHT put it under Literature namespace.
Humanoid Robots might be useful as a redirect.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettToday's worklist is up (up to Quotes.Heimskringla). Remind me also we ought to ask for a full-fledged new page report:
- The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours: The most recent policy page here. I wonder if it should be about works rather than fics, though - I recall that non-fic works made the same problems in the past.
- DarthWiki. The Head Body Adventures Of Danny: I need a reminder whether we take the removal of the trope list from an unpublished work as vandalism or a cut request.
- Humanoid Robots: Seems like we'll be redirecting this
- Mythology Porn: Still looking for an answer to the question at the top of this page.
- Spyro: Shadow Legacy: Stub work page.
- Tracing Death: Exampleless work page.
- What Do You Mean, It's Not Cosmetic?: Old page, but it really looks like a bad launch.
- You Know Nothing About X: Did someone make a YKTTW of this?
The Fic May Be Yours But The Trope Page Is Ours: Fanfics tend to be most affected, but there was that one case where several people were suspended after messing with a Creator page, because the woman/personality essentially asked her fans to do so. It resulted in at least a temp lock for that page.
I think there should be at least a note that while fanfics do bear the brunt of the ownership issues, the principle applies to every page.
Edit: found the name. Jesu Otaku.

Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettA second worklist (now up to Awesome.Portal Breach):
- The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec: Stubby work page; creator messaged.
- DarthWiki.Hunters: Page created and then straight blanked again by the same person.
- Kizzsprite: A page on a Homestuck character.
- Mark Levin: That seems like a work page to me; should it go to Radio.Mark Levin or Radio. The Mark Levin Show? The latter seems correct.
- The Smurfette Village: I've messaged the editor, Vic George 2011, a couple of times about indexing and crosswicking.
- OOC.Wars Of Equestria: This was meant to be a character page, yes?
My Dad listens to that. It's The Mark Levin Show. Mark Levin would be Creator.
Edit: And now that I'm actually awake... Every context I've come across OOC in, it means Out Of Character. In Interactive Fiction story threads I've read and participate in, the OOC thread was used for Audience (and authors') Reactions.
So that thing seems to be a character page, but the OOC label could attract the wrong type of edits, depending on their internet background

Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettToday, not much to do (up to Laconic.Final Boss on the page type log):
- Go Animate: A website hosting animation goes where, namespace wise?
- Prin Pardus: Stubby creator page.
Mistaken for Foreigner got launched with one hat, and I still don't like the name; it's specifically about someone assuming an Ethnic minority is from his ethnic origin, but the current name just sounds like a version of Mistaken Nationality (which many people in the YKTTW confused it for multiple times).
edited 12th Mar '14 11:30:25 AM by Larkmarn
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.- Mistaken for Foreigner: Aye, the name doesn't look good to me. Also, launching without hats.
- Reset OCT: Stub article; creator messaged.

Wringing Hands Of Nervousness was not run under YKTTW. very few examples, and even fewer wicks.
confusing description too. nothing to save here, yes?
