TLP Crash Rescue - Fixing prematurely launched TLPs and pages

I think people are being a little silly with this Squirting Flower thing supposedly sounding inappropriate - but I do think making it Squirting Flower Gag makes it much clearer what it refers to.

I can't say my mind went to anything squicky at first read, but "Squirting Flower Gag" explains the purpose of the trope better than merely "Squirting Flower".

Well, the only thing I turn up when I Google "squirting flower" is the novelty item, and Google knows all about the dirty shit I usually search for, so if anybody should be turning up naughtiness it would be me. I think y'all are overreacting, personally.

It frankly sounds awful and suggestive enough for a rename. Squirting Flower Gag sounds way better. It also is a specific enough gag that context isn't very difficult. At least compared to a Stock Visual Gag.

I feel like people are reaching really far with the innuendo concerns ("flower" isn't exactly the first thing that makes me think "vagina"), but I do agree that putting "gag" in the name is necessary for clarity.

I think Clear, Concise, Witty is a more compelling argument than I Thought It Meant.

Laconic.Squirting Flower has not been cut.

And there are still wicks from Squirting Flower that need to be de-wicked.

Ah. I should suggest a soft dewick, which is commenting them out until it's been properly launched.

Way less clear. Though the idea of it being a "Gag Item" type thing might work better. For other kinds of gag items ones can think of. There's a lot of stuff clowns use that could fit under there.

Just as I suspected. I just had to get that idea out of my head so it would stop bugging me.

That's news to me. What other squirting gag items do clowns use besides flowers?

While I can't personally think of any, that doesn't mean none exist.

Anyway, guys, can we once again acknowledge that the hatting system is utterly broken? I mean, how many times in this past month have we had poorly made drafts getting an excessive amount of hats in just a few hours, or alternatively, have we had drafts getting bombed to oblivion for no discernible reason?

I'm getting desperate, and I'm getting frustrated. Mods, once of you once said on this thread that TLP reform was on the table, but can I ask what reforms you and the staff are actually referring to, what kind of things will be fixed? Because the TLP is a broken system, abused way too easily, and something needs to be done about it. I can't blame the TLP community; a majority of the people there are experienced and skilled draft-makers who understand what is and is not launch-worthy, but that doesn't stop people from wandering in, pushing random buttons, and causing headaches for the rest of us.

That discussion from a little bit ago, about how we're enforcing quality standards after drafts get launched? Well this is exactly why we need this thread- because the TLP system allows for people to come in and create messes and not listen to other people before trying to launch a draft, which goes against the entire purpose of the launch pad and the wiki as a whole. We need ways to enforce these standards before launches can happen, but in many cases, that's near impossible without dragging mods into everything.

I'm with War Jay. Some time ago, there was a TLP Reform Thread. Some time after the thread was closed, the site got updated... and the only changes to TLP that I noticed were cosmetic. I was so disappointed. I wanted to start TLP Reform Thread Number Two, but I didn't because I'm paranoid that I would be breaking some rule somewhere that I can't find, is there a rule about not starting reduxes of threads that moderators have closed?

While we understand the frustration with the slow pace of development, there is no point in griping about it. That won't make changes come any faster.

Anyway, I'm putting Webcomic.Warehouse on the stub list. Article creator and new account ~Liah_Faile has been notified.

I just needed to vent; but I did also ask what sort of changes are being planned. Nobody has answered that yet. Reform is in the works, and Septimus mentioned once that the Admins were asked about hat anonymity, but is that it, or is there more? I just want to know that there are plans to change anything, and whether or not these changes are strictly based on that thread mentioned , or if anything we said here since has also been considered.

Black Dot Pupils was just stealth launched with 4 net hats.

Would this be an acceptable place to have a discussion over the actual usage of bombs and hats, or should I open a wiki-talk thread? There's been debate lately over what hats and bombs are actually for, and I feel we should talk it out and settle it somewhere...

Webcomic.Aurora was created by a new troper. I sent a message about the page being a stub, as when I saw it it was literally just a single-line description.

The "updated" version is hardly better, so what do? I always feel like I'm harassing people when I send them multiple notifiers in such a short time, but...

Even now, there’s zero non-ZCE tropes on that page. I understand the author of that page may be wanting wiki magic to kick in, but they should be made clear on the minimum expected for a work page creation, even if they are a free launch.
