TLP Crash Rescue - Fixing prematurely launched TLPs and pages

Go To

Prematurely launched pages and pages that weren't fully fleshed out at the point of launching, are a big problem. Since these usually share several problems at once, this thread is aimed at re-running them through the TLP for fixing - the usual fix - or cutting them if they are too bad.

Problems this thread deals with include bad names, not enough/bad examples, unclear description, etc.

For the interested, here's a list of recently created pages. Launches

Note: Please do not request a mod to unlaunch drafts that don't have any issues besides lacking a launch notice/24hr launch notice. While 24hr launch notices are mandatory, there are a few exceptions to the rule. If you see a draft's sponsor launch a TLP without an announcement, it's best to remind them of our TLP Guidelines first. If they continue to repeatedly launch drafts without a launch notice, you can report them on Ask The Tropers or the TLP Community Issues thread.

[up] Cut those.

I think Anatomy Agony can probably stay.

The Timekeeper looks like a story. If so there's no reason to get rid of it. Evil Pervert looks like the beginning of a page but doesn't get around to saying what it is specifically. No examples, no links... Let's cut.

The Timekeeper has too few tropes to stay, I'm afraid.

Another stub: Brain Scratch Comms.

I'd say cut, unless someone here wants to take it on.

Hi, I'm the guy who put the Do Not Mess With Time YKTTW there. I haven't ever done any real ventures with YKTTW before, and this is actually my first forum post here, so please forgive any faults of inexperience on my part.

I'd like to make it a proper trope page if possible. It looks tropeworthy enough, at least to me. I'm not certain I can get enough examples going myself, though.

New trope, Mid-Review Sketch Show. Looks decently written and I don't think we have it already, but it was created without a YKTTW and I'd like a second opinion.

[up][up] Try reading YKTTW Guidelines and looking through existing drafts in YKTTW. That should give you an idea of what's expected and how to properly proceed with making a new trope page.

orangejuicer, first of all there's no 'I' in a trope page. Examples are listed below the description and you can't assume that anyone knows what HPMOR's "DO NOT MESS WITH TIME" is. Read more trope pages and make minor edits to some. It's a good way to learn how to write one.

Edit: Maybe I was too blunt on that. Those are some basic guidelines to start you off. I would suggest reading more trope pages and making minor edits to learn how better to write one and become a productive contributer to the site.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Badass. Horrible snowclone title and I'm fairly sure it's already covered. Also created without a YKTTW.

There's no links in that and I agree that it's probably already covered, but I don't know by what. Other tropes are mentioned, but without a link as if the creator didn't know how to make them.

First thing I thought of was Mugging the Monster, but that's not quite right.

[up][up] I'm quite sure I've read a trope which covers that notion, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called.

EDIT: I think I was thinking of Let's Get Dangerous!.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Badass is like Let's Get Dangerous! but Crouching Tiger Hidden Badass is for completely normal characters and Let's Get Dangerous! is a quirky/eccentric supporting cast. I've gone through the Hidden Badass index and Badass Bystander looks most normal since it's, "a background or minor character who shows significant or surprising fighting prowess or strength against a major threat."

I Cant Cry Wank To This and Cry Wank: Both by 19000_pages have concerns about a) duplication with The Woobie, b) complaining, c) dialogue title and d) stubbiness.

[up][up] ... I'm happy there are two pages so we can cut it twice. That's AWFUL.

Line Boil, trope about an art style that is currently nothing but a huge pile of ZC Es. Don't have a clue about whether or not we have it, though.

You might want to put that back into YKTTW.

Marvel Vs DC: Sounds like a stub page.

Yeah, it just had a quote on it. I did a little research but I can't figure out if it's an "official" comic book series or a web animation series. Already on the cutlist.
