TLP Crash Rescue - Fixing prematurely launched TLPs and pages

Go To

Prematurely launched pages, pages that weren't fully fleshed out at the point of launching, are a big problem. Since these usually share several problems at once, this thread is aimed at re-running them through YKTTW for fixing - the usual fix - or cutting them if they are too bad.

Problems this thread deals with include bad names, not enough/bad examples, unclear description, no crosswicking etc.

For the interested, here's a list of recently created pages. Launches

There's also Religious Animals just been launched. It lists anthropomorphic animals that have religion... which seems like it's just part of the animals being anthropomorphic, so covered by that (i.e. PSOC?)
... <Face Palm> Seriously need that quality control committee established ASAP.

RE Ambiguous Religions: This was brought up twice before: on pages 197 and 198. And there's some continued discussion on page 199 here.

I still think it should be sent back for naming and description issues.

Morphers is a giant Wall of Text

Copify a troper page but it is the editor only edit and it is an external link so it may be spam

Light In You doesn't look like it got enough tropes and it has has sub pages with underscores in the address bar

[up] I sent the troper who made Morphers an indentation notifier, since what they put in the edit box wasn't exactly a wall of text but there weren't any asterisks so it got squished together.

I cutlisted Tropes_A_to_K.Light In You. Hopefully that'll be simple...

Found Glass, which was created on the 30th of June, and has only one trope (Sequel), which I'm fairly certain isn't a trope but an index.

Fictionkin Amino is a stub with a weird namespace and I'm not sure but the character page may be about real people.

[up]kill it. It is about 'people', and it's bad

Immortal Infertility was launched in 2012 with apparently no YKTTW discussion whatsoever, even though we already have Immortal Procreation Clause (launched in 2009), which has Immortality Infertility as an alternate name. This seems like an obvious cut, right?

[up][up] I think it ought to be brought to ATT. Something that old may be salvageable in TRS. Which name to keep (that is, which page to cut and move wicks from) ought to be discussed, I think (if it isn't salvageable).

Immortal Procreation Clause has 173 wicks and 5000+ inbounds since 2009.

Immortal Infertility has 7 wicks and 198 inbounds since 2012.

I don't know about you, but it's obvious to me that Immortal Infertility is not thriving at all, so I doubt anyone could make a good case for it being the main name of the trope. Plus, Immortal Procreation Clause is not limited to cases of biological infertility; it covers cases where limitations on procreation are in force, either by the potential procreators themselves or by another party (i.e. population control). Immortality Infertility thus is inappropiately narrow as a choice of main name.

Bringing up X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which was created back in April and has only two tropes; one a Zero Context Example (Adaptational Villainy) and one which I'm fairly certain is a non-notable aversion (Absent Aliens).

There did use to be a third trope on the page (The Nineties), but I removed it because it was a Useful Note and not a trope.

Just for the record, Immortal Infertility has been cut and redirected to Immortal Procreation Clause, and all its mere 7 wicks changed to the main trope title. So that's one item that's no longer on the table.

Mc Samurai got launched after 5 days.

While it's not one I'd fight to send back, the name is 100% a snowclone, I have reservations about its tropeability (especially since cutting out examples of Street Samurai and Samurai Cowboy, there are not a lot of examples there, and as a lumper I say they can just go into Everything's Better with Samurai), and of course, such a short YKTTW cycle just sends up red flags to me.

... also, it sort of bugs me that the page image isn't a Mc Samurai as it is McSephiroth, which is only samurai-esque in that he has a katana.

Also: Nudist Resort got launched in 5 days, 5 hats. And it's entirely People Sit In Chairs. A very specific chair, mind you, but the examples list work out to be "this work has a nudist resort in it."

I can't imagine any real meaning behind nudist resorts that wouldn't be covered by existing Nudity Tropes.

Cut Mc Samurai.

Cut Nudist Resort outright. I at first thought there might be some potential value in it as a Useful Notes page about nudity, but we already have Nudism.

Repost from previous page: Is there meaning behind The Gardener, or is it just PSOC?

Lakingsif said to send it to Repairs. Anyone thinking of other options?

There's only 58 wicks, so cutting it isn't too hard...

Definite potential meaning there, as if someone is shown as agriculturally focused, chance are there are nurturing character attributes associated with them, along with a sense of self-sufficiency. I'd have to take a look at the examples to see if that's how it used, and I don't have the time to do so now.

Jul 13th 2017 at 2:18:34 PM

[up] - Well, if that's the supposed meaning, maybe rename to Caring Gardener or something?

In any case, from a quick glance, none of the examples have anything about the personality of the gardeners described.

Currently, the only bits that talk about gardeners being caring, or anything about a common personality, might be in the description:

Often what becomes of those who experience Call to Agriculture. A character being The Gardener (especially the mundane type) can be a good way to show their patience, and/or determination, as growing plants takes time and effort.

Hello, first time in this thread, hope I'm doing this right.

Demongodofchaos2 launched Manga.Made In Abyss on July 14, 2017 with only one trope and a description plagiarized from My Anime List. They also made Characters.Made In Abyss, Trivia.Made In Abyss, and YMMV.Made In Abyss with no entries in them at all.

Should I put them on the Cutlist?
