They fight. Goku would notice Saitama has a buttload of power like in that Crossover with Vegeta, and he'd get incredibly excited. Saitama may or may not be impressed by Goku's abilities (depends on what he does), and then something would happen to end the fight before Saitama could knock Goku out (or alternatively, Goku would get beat, because I think he could take it better than Vegeta).
They shake hands on a good match. Saitama is his usual self, while Goku laments that he's still got a long way to go in his training, and that's that.
One Strip! One Strip!
That's the natural progression of things indeed. Goku loves him a nice fight.
Again, though, I want to imagine Saitama facing the kind of character that doesn't get punched. The Great Gazoo types are excellent for this. Q. Bat-Mite. Mr. Mxyzptlk, Uncle Grandpa...
Also, Saitama facing characters that rely almost purely on guile and intelligence, especially in situations where his strength would be useless, like in a trial. What if his world had a Lex Luthor equivalent? How about a Doctor? Or a Spider Jerusalem? Or a Malcolm Tucker? Or a Jack Sparrow?

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Every time people say Spider Jerusalem, I picture a Spider-Man nativity scene where Spider-Christ is born.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I am curious as to how Saitama would deal with enemies who's powers aren't purely physical and could theoretically work around his strength.
I'd almost be interested in a foe who's actually aware of how strong Saitama is, so they spend days trying to figure out how to beat him by observing him in action, recording his daily activities, etc, only to be constantly frustrated by how he pretty much never uses his full power, so it's impossible to fully gauge what he's capable of.
After Months worth of constantly watching him, the best they can come up with for a strategy against fighting him is:
2) Don't fight him at all if you can avoid it.
3) Direct attacks are less than useless.
So taking this in mind, they go around looking for some kind of telepath who can attack him mentally.
I also want to envision a scenario where someone who knows what will happen if Saitama lands that one punch ends up in a fight against him anyway, and desperately spends the entire battle just trying to dodge him and stay out of his attack range (which is useless when you can move as fast as he can, but it'd still be smart to at least try), all while trying to find some kind of weakness on the fly, the entire battle being a huge Hope Spot for that person since unless they get lucky, they already know they've lost. Sort of a reverse Boros (well, maybe not a complete reverse: Boros was one of the few beings aware of the fact that Saitama was ridiculously strong when he started the fight. Carnage Kabuto came close, but ignored his own instincts and paid the price).
I just want to see someone who knows just how boned they are fighting Saitama end up trying to do so anyway.

One Strip! One Strip!Garou actually managed to do pretty well at dodging him, using the fact that his technique is really sloppy to react to his telegraphed moves. He admits outright that if he waited until Saitama started moving to dodge he wouldn't be able to get out of the way in time.

Hey, remenber back when Saitama had that dream where he fought the subterraneans?
What if there comes a villain who could send him to a "dream world" state?
I mean, there wouldn't be much different anyway. If this dream goes like the previous one then the only difference would be that Saitama could get hurt
Uni cat
....
Ah, who am I kidding? We all know you're right anyway.
So don't shut up. Always keep it real man.
One Strip! One Strip!Well, given the type of series this is, Saitama would get the fight of his life...then grow bored of it.
- Saitama:This is nowhere near as great as I thought this would feel.
Then he'd punch his way out of dream, Genos would ask "Master, how could you give up everything you wanted? and Saitama would be like "Meh..." See and it perpetuates the joke of Saitama getting no satisfaction out of life
