Production of gen:Lock Season 2 is confirmed to be taking place.
The recently-revealed AT&T/Discovery deal apparently includes Rooster Teeth.

So... we gonna talk about how it looks like Rooster Teeth is actually showing signs of dying? I'm not talking doomsayer and all that stuff, I'm talking the fact that they are literally in a situation that suggests the company is going under. So far they've put both Nomad and Camp Camp into Indefinite Hiatus' out of financial issues until they can find another studio to produce them, gen:Lock required being moved to HBO Max after it was an initial Acclaimed Flop and had a two year hiatus, Neon Konbini lasted only eight episodes before ending and even then most people only watched it for RWBY Chibi, even the show that started them big, Red Vs. Blue, is suffering it's first near unanimous negative reaction due to the failure that was Zero and Family Shatters. ATM, the only shows they have without any real issues behind it are RWBY and Death Battle, and they aren't exactly internet darlings either.
Add on the numerous controversies the company has been going through in the last few years like the crap with Ryan or the crunchtime fiasco under Gray, the fact that a bunch of the old guard has either shifted to a collaborator role or just flat out left, and that Warner Bros is still looking to sell the company off, I think this might legitimately be the beginning of the end for Rooster Teeth.
I never really cared for their corporate side or their podcasts, Achievement Hunter, or anything beyond Red vs Blue and RWBY. I've been against the mass-corporatization of old internet memes/groups/communities for awhile now, especially after Channel Not Awesome, so the gradual shift of Rooster Teeth from being a small-time operation to a member of the digital big boys always bugged me, and watching their ambition decompose is oddly gratifying.
I'm not without sympathy for watching a content creator fall on uncertain times, but every time I hear something negative about Rooster Teeth I just think, "well, that happened."
I thought Nomad was sent out to die by Gray. Plus I don't recall reception to it being overly positive.
And after looking into it, Season 2 of gen:Lock bombed, and not even in an Acclaimed Flop kind of way like Season 1, it was just genuinely bad. Looks like Rooster Teeth dodged a bullet by having HBO Max take it.

Wait, season 2 came out?!
Last I heard they hadn't even put out a date yet, just a teaser.
Daaaaaaaamn
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyFrom what I've seen, the existing fanbase panned it whereas professional and freelance critics (none of whom are associated with the fandom) have praised it, even loved it. I have no idea which side I'll come down on. I'm ignoring it all until I've seen it and can make up my own mind.
Given that the last episode aired on HBO Max just before Christmas, I'm assuming it'll be available on Rooster Teeth at some point this month. I guess we'll find out then what it's like.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.
I have seen it. And while there is one or two things I liked, I can say that I overall disliked it. I won't spoil anything since you plan on watching it still Wyld.
Godspeed Wyldchyld.

Rodimus: Self-sacrifice, Magnus— It's cheap. It's a cheap way out. I need to live so I can make amends.Well, I've finished Season 2 (where there are notes, I've mentioned specific scenes, so there are spoilers in them).
I don't think it's as bad as was made out, given the complaints I heard about the scale of its bleak hopelessness; I ended up surprised by how un-bleak and hopeful the end actually was. However, that's a really low bar that I'm talking about, which isn't a good thing. It was definitely very sub-par compared to the promise of the first season, and it had some very strange scenes in it that seemed to have no true narrative purpose note . Overall, I think it had the same problems I felt RvB Zero had. The season felt like it was snapshots of a much larger storyline, so it was choppy, didn't flow, and even when there weren't time skips, it felt like there were (hence the "snapshot" feeling). I felt Zero needed to be done in three seasons; like the Chorus Trilogy, too much was squashed into too few episodes, which meant everything felt "glossed over" note , and that's how this season felt — superficial, cramped and disjointed.
It also had one problem Zero didn't have. Zero had one thing going for it: the animation. GL Season 2 definitely had lesser animation than Season 1. Everything was so bright and shiny that it felt like another work completely, it seemed weird given how gritty most of it was supposed to be. I had this vibe in the trailer when I first saw it months ago; I was hoping it would settle in the season, where there was context, but it didn't.
Overall, Season 2 was a very strange experience. The whole thing was... weird. And not in a good way.
It's also strange to see the scale of the disconnect between the GL/RT fandoms, who hate Season 2, and professional (non-fandom) critics, who rave about it as a brilliant follow-up to Season 1. While I do think the RT fandoms tend towards extreme negative reactions, I genuinely don't understand the positive reception from professional critics either.

Part of the negative reaction also had to do with their treatment of Kazu and Cammie, the latter especially, as well as accusations of Character Derailment for Miranda and Marin.

Looks like AT&T wants to sell
Rooster Teeth so that it can continue praising the HBO Max gods.
