I just don't know how that guy got to that comment...
- South Korea isn't the one Americans traditionally recognize as "communist", did he just mix up the two?
- Under no popularly accepted definition of communism is it 400 years old; it's either younger or older
- "South Korea" isn't 400 years old
- This current crisis is proof that American capitalism isn't foolproof, anyway
Also why the fuck does it matter what economic style someone who is offering you free help follows if they aren't forcing you to convert?

The sad, REAL American dichotomyI remember talking to someone about a year back and realizing he didn't know there were two Koreas and that we actually get along with one of them pretty well. And then I realized that I don't think he was particularly ignorant or anything, which was a sad thought.

Well some of our countries are just fucking morons. In the US, for example, the president is encouraging armed "liberation" from quarantine (in specific states based on his political whims), at the same time the US just had its deadliest day fighting coronavirus. And self-described militias are already planning to assemble at government buildings next week in Michigan.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyHas the US absolutely lost its mind in the midst of this crisis?
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerNew Zealand.
Seriously, I need to find a Kiwi fiance.
...Or a Korean-Persian woman who happens to live in New Zealand.
So a couple months ago I was watching the sub of Daily Life with Monster Girl on Crunchyroll. I don't remember how it came my way, but it was fun and sweet. Watched a couple episodes, but didn't keep watching.
Recently a friend recommended I watch the dub, which is on Hulu, since I'm using his Hulu account and was looking for recommendations. He mentioned there are some changes. I just started it from episode one, to better understand what the changes are.
The dub is uncensored. Not bad, still good, fun, funny and sweet, but definitely "uncensored."
The differences are noticeable.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyOkay, I finished binging the Attack on Titan anime, and am still going with Monster Musume.
Attack on Titan:
- I'm about a year behind on the manga, maybe a year and a half or more? Still able to avoid manga spoilers from when I stopped.
- Part of why I stopped reading the manga is because the whole story, while mostly well told, is just a giant From Bad to Worse story.
- Floch is just. the. WORST. I knew it when he became a more important character, but it's apparently always been true, and I just didn't notice when he was a minor character.
Monster Musume:
- I'm gonna have to semi-close my blinds when I watch this, on my living room TV, aren't I? Not like anyone knows who I am here, but still.
- Even though it's dubbed, the closed captions add a bit of humor.
- The reason I decided to watch the show was the scene when the characters named in the captions as "Racist Guy" and "Racist Girl" get punched into each other and knocked the fuck out. More shows need to have racists knocked out.
- I guess this is my first harem anime?
- I like the first girl, but it is clear there's some author favoritism to First Girl Wins, and it can get a little much.
- Third girl is pretty great though.
- Second girl is a bit too childish, but she and fourth girl do make sense as children if one considers the guy, first, and third girl as an OT3.
- Zeroth girl (Smith) is a good character.
- I knew from character designs alone I'd love fifth and sixth girls
- I don't actually need this much fanservice in my life. I mean, I'm not complaining, but it's kinda awkward.
- Anyone who doesn't want a Marry Them All ending is a monster.
Also, earlier in my work from home Hulu binge, I watched some more of the Key and Peele sketch comedy show. In one of their interstitial bits, they'd contemplated, if they were women, would they be interested in sleeping with a centaur. You know, top half of a man, bottom half of, well, a horse?
So, putting those two shows together, I had a thought...
I wonder, if there was actually an All Myths Are True world, would Mermaids and Male Centaurs get along? Would it be like cutting out the middle man if they decided to get together?

The sad, REAL American dichotomyAlso, episode 8...
Why does everything I watch have an episode about viruses transferring between species? Dammit!
A friend of mine and I have been watching Explained, a mini-documentary series on Netflix.
They had an episode about pandemics.
That aired on November 7, 2019.
That specifically mentioned diseases jumping from bats or other species, and the probability of it coming from wet markets like those in Wuhan.
It featured Bill Gates as a guest.
For a bit of levity, it was hosted by J. K. Simmons, so at least if we're going to have a dark future predicted, it's predicted by Cave Johnson / J. Jonah Jameson.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyThis was an incredible amount of fun. See my comment on the video for a hint to my alternate solution.
@Shlugo -
Oh man. There has been so many news about COVID-19, as well as some very vocal right wingers and congressmen who lost their seats going around making conspiracies about the election being rigged I must've missed that one. Man, some people can be such sore losers.
RE: Attack on Titan - I should really catch up with that series. Apparently it has both going off the bonkers and slowly reaching the endgame.
Started to watch Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. Oh man. This anime is so edgy (by the time period's standards, at least) it's actually hilarious. It's impressive just how many times the main character keeps punching people and get punched back. Seriously, I've seen fighting anime series with less fistfights than this.
The US president is basically telling people to drink bleach. And his spin doctors are in full effect.
I mean... this is one situation where his fans could probably follow his advice.
Is that the one where the guy needs THE HELP OF KYOJI!!
(video contains possible spoilers, and an old meme from the early youtube days.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyHey, look at the bright side. Now we can be sure Trump won't be reelected.
....On the other hand, his win in 2016 also went against all the expectations, common senses, and decency, so that's probably not a very good prediction to make anyway...
In another note, I'm gonna take an extensive break from this site, as well as all the websites and basically anything that isn't essential to my work/study. Turns out there are so many things I need to catch up with but have been neglecting. The biggest among them might be getting my finished (goddamn, it feels good to use this description!) novel actually published, a process that I've been dragging my feet for months by now.
Also, does anyone here remember how I talked about working on an isekai story of my own? Well, now I have enough written that when I get my first novel published, I'm going to start serializing it in my country's equivalent of Let's Become a Novelist. If everything turn out well, who knows, maybe some people might translate my story into English and people might talk about it the General Isekai Thread or something.
Until then, well, I hope everyone stays safe and healthy - both physically and psychologically. Hopefully by the time I'm done with my self-banishment (I actually installed a Chrome extension that will block me from this site and other sites), this whole pandemic will settle down a little bit.
Gonna be up to a whole lot of things, and I will tell you all about it when I see you again.
dRoy signing out.
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.Good luck! I hope you'll be better at catching up on stuff than I've been!
The sad, REAL American dichotomy

Well, I think that in that particular thread, by communism they all meant one that was based on the Marxist ideologies. As such, that brand of communism cannot be older than 200 years, since Marx was only born in 1812, which is the point everyone else in the thread is making and mocking.
