No matter how tired I am, my brain won't let me go to sleep until an honestly unhealthy time. Then I wake up tired no matter how much (or little) sleep I get.
I need to focus on catching up on all I need to do so I can finally get back to a good schedule. You'd think working from home right now would be a good chance to reset, but I'm just getting worse in some aspects.
In more positive news, I just found out about the Korean-American musician Jessi, and...
shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
All right, I'm back. First of all, Thanks to everyone for their concerns!
Yeah, my normal hour of sleep is in the range of 5.5 and 4.5 hours. And Gilphon is right, that probably did contribute to my health problems recently. This is particularly convincing because for two days I kept sleeping for 7 hours (the most I can't afford) after eating Tylenol and now I feel pretty much fine. Now I only have slight bit of headache, but it's something I can live with. So, yeah. No COVID-19 here. At least, for now. XP
Oh, and now I'm pooping blood...I should get a healthier lifestyle already.
Ooh! In a few days it's the midterm elections in my country and holy crap, so much insanity going all around. My country's equivalent of GOP is practically on an arm's race of who can say the stupidest and most outright insane things. I have so many examples, but one of them actually made an election promise of - and these are the exact words, I'm not making this shit up - "building Chinese hooker street."
Like...What...WHY.

Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.Wait, they're promising that they would, or threatening that the opposing party(ies) would?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyYou Tube algorithm can be weird.
Thankfully, for me it mostly recommends cute animal videos.
I mean, the algorithm wasn't entirely off-brand... if anything, it was a bit too on the nose, and not what I was intending to look at that day.
The sad, REAL American dichotomySo, tomorrow there's a big, legislative election in my country.
Long story short, if the liberal party take the majority this time, they can finally properly launch large scale prosecutor reform, strengthening anti-corruption laws and measures, and finally, punish all the corrupt politicians and bureaucrats who helped ruin this country during the previous, now-impeached president's regime, most of whom are the members of K-GOP.
Man, am I both nervous and excited for tomorrow. XP
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.Well, the election is over.

...AWWWWWWW FUUUUUCCCCCKKKK YEEEAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Like, holy shit.
To use a bit of hyperbole, this is the single biggest victory for the liberal party in my country, ever.
In American political terms, it's like taking both the House and the Senate majority in one go.
Oh man. So many asshole politicians have lost it brings joy to my soul.
...Now I can sleep happy. It's past 3AM here.
I miss when my country didn't have a bloviating moron practically quoting Chancellor Palpatine.
By the way, if anyone in our countries ever tries to suggest that Muslim women (or anyone else) shouldn't be allowed to wear religious clothing that they choose because of "security", that everyone has to be able to see their full face and as much skin as possible, this is a reminder that that entire line of thinking is FULL OF SHIT, and is just an excuse to try to rob privacy from people/religions they don't like.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyIt used to be that government being able to find and identify people at moment notice was seen as a sign of a scary dystopia, not something to be encouraged. But times change I guess.
When it comes to cultural practices there's only really one question that should be asked: is anyone getting hurt by that? If not, let people do what they want. People have no chill.
To be a bit more specific about the results of the 2020 legislative election, the liberal party took 180 seats out of 300. Basically, it can pretty much do everything by themselves in congress except changing the constitution. Normally, that wouldn't necessarily be a good thing: absolute power corrupting absolutely and all. But seeing how utterly criminal and psychopathic K-GOP has been, many people have been crying out for their blood.
It's an absolutely amazing coincidence that today marks the 6th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry Sinking Incident
, in which 294 students and faculty members died because the previous administration just literally sat there and left them to die. There's no indication of that literally being the intention, but not only the government told the students to stay in the ferry, they even refused when an US Navy vessel contacted them and offered their help in the rescue.
Understandably, the family of the victims were utterly grieved and furious at the government...and yet the family members were absolutely demonized. K-GOP and the Park Administration not only used the media (which was and still is totally loyal to them, by the way) to color the grieving family members as greedy assholes who want to stand on children's dead body for insurance money, they also used police and K-CIA to designate them as leftist, North Korean-sympathizers, even putting them under surveillance and blacklisting them. The government probably would've just killed them if they could get away with it.
Hell, one of the K-GOP who lost in this election (fuck yeah) even went as far as to say that the family of the victims routinely had orgies during the protests. He said that about three days ago., that...was so messed up it actually contributed the party's defeat.
This horrific incident and even more horrific government/K-GOP's response was kind of a tipping point for many people in the country. The current president, Moon Jae-in (one of the most famous human rights lawyers in history), initially had retired from politics after seeing so many of his political partners and closest friends either driven to suicides or corrupt. But after seeing the Sewol disaster, he decided to return to the politics
And the rest is history.
Here's the funny thing. While the liberal party won 180 seats...the K-GOP still won 100 seats.
There's this demographic called "The Concrete 30%." They would support K-GOP no matter what. Like, holy shit. They are like those MAGA-hat wearing lunatics, but much older and worse. Yeah, it doesn't matter how corrupt and incompetent the latter has been, they will always get the support.
Heh.
Outside of China, we are probably the most surveillance-friendly country in the whole world. There are so many security cameras that there are pretty much no longer any North Korean spies anymore. XD
Also, take a look at this graph.
◊
That's how our government track down the movement of people who are infected by COVID 19. That's right, we can track where people have been by precise seconds. It's almost a bit scary, really.
Okay wow, that really IS some seriously dumb reason for prohibiting headgear. 0_o

If no one's getting hurt, let people do what they want. EXACTLY.
Fortunately for a lot of the rest of the world, a lot of our (US, Brazil, UK, Italy, Turkey especially) governments' latest tilt towards a combination of incompetent and authoritarian means that they botched the response to coronavirus so severely that even if they did push for a surveillance state now, it wouldn't do any good for the current crisis as infections have permeated the countries.
At least, if the people of these countries recognize this late in the game surveillance wouldn't actually do any good. A lot of our people are stupid.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyIn other news, yesterday and this week was a bad, baaaaaad day for American pro wrestling, with sinister implications about politics as well.
As the video (and WWE's own corporate press releases) states, they don't have financial problems. These cuts are solely to increase their shareholders' profits.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI would ask why would anyone do such a thing, but I guess you can just say "greed."
In a more amusing note, I came across particular Tweet
:
For those of you who can't access that link:
.......I think this reply puts it the best:
(For those of you who don't know the specifics, Marx wasn't even born until 1812.
Wait, I'm not sure what you or the post are trying to say regarding Marx... While not what western education first thinks of as "communism", communal living, similar societies, and similar schools of thought, have existed around the world before the birth of Marx.
But also that's a moot point because both the Republic of Korea (South Korea) and the DPRK (North Korea) are much less than 400 years old.
I'm confused, but I think the latter is the point you're bringing up?
The sad, REAL American dichotomy

Same. I usually am wide awake after that, and even if I want to keep sleeping I know I can't.
