Okay then, assuming Bliss did stay or comes back (which I consider fairly likely) what do you think she should actually do? There, a topic that's not just complaining about something...

Maybe get developed a bit better, I guess? Like, stick around for a bit longer this time, do some heroic stuff, maybe go to another town to protect it.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?

I will say, I was surprised she didn't just have the girls power, but better or something. She seemed more psychic to their standard heroics.

Everyone here is complaining about people who complains about the show, yet the only people I see complaining in this discussion are the people complaining about the complainers for voicing criticism regarding the show.

And yet here I am amazed people actually took my joke regarding the mediocrity on Illumination films seriously. I mean thats basically my problem with Nu PPG, it settles on mediocrity just like Illuminations. Sure they Illumination has bad films in their track record, but lets not forget how this show had some bad episodes.

Now on arguements on the recent special not counting if terms like "SJW" and "Tumblr" is used; thank god terms like bad OC, fan fic plot and Deviant Art does not count cause thats how I view.

Basically to me Bliss as a character is like Andy from Regular Show. Y'know, Andy; the baby ducks long lost teenage older brother who happens to be a powerful psychic? Yeah, that's who Bliss reminds me of upon looking at the episode. The only difference between the two is that Andy was meant to be a joke character on the whole long lost sibiling trope found in a lot of anime/video games, which is what I kind of hoped for in Bliss as that could save the special for being self referential. Hell, the proof that Bliss was originally meant to be a joke charscter like Andy stems from her origin where Professor admited that he made the mistake of introducing Chemical Letter to his Perfect Girl recipe over 22 times (that was actually a funny retcon). Or better yet that ending where she must go to space to keep Saturn on track seems like a set up for a Poochy ending.

But a las she is played straight and overall, the special was okay. I like how they are using Ben 10 Omniverse levels of retconning to make Bliss apart of the canon and Him (holy shit a villian from the original serving as the bad guy than joke fodder) involvement in the episode corrupting Bliss who is established has Princess Peach powers. However what takes away from the episode is the played straight fan fic 4th PPG like plot that makes it hard for me to take seriously and (of couse) Bliss design as a short of teenage power puff girls which kind of look uncanny even by the usual PPG standards (seriously, her lower region is distracting in the wrong way).

Well, that feels good to get off my chest after watching the episode.

[up]I don't remember that from Regular Show, but I watched it pretty on and off during the later seasons.

As far as complaints go, my issue wasn't that people have any, it's that often times they're not constructive or well-thought. I've seen constructive and well-thought out criticisms of this show, but "OMG HUMOR SO TERRIBLE!" or "EWW! LIKE FAN-FIC", don't really strike me as things you can reasonably expect anyone to build on.

And I have say, you guys are using the word retcon wrong. This isn't a continuation of the old show, it's a reboot with a different continuity. They aren't changing things from that continuity, it's an entirely different continuity all together.

Edit: That being said, I don't really have much issue with your actual thoughts, as detailed in the post, because they're well, detailed.

[up]Well the only thing that offends me about that comment is that you haven't watched thr greatest Affectionate Parody to mech animes ever! Cause thats where Andy came from. You should watch it; its' awesome from the entire mech battle itself to the Take That to corporate figures who screw creators over with their deals.

Anyway definitely see where you are coming from and agree. The fact its using a fan fic plot isn't the problem, but rather the execution of said plot. I kind of regret the episode wasn't a full on parody as some of the jokes in it are actually really funny.

Though to explain why some of us think its not a full on reboot, well the show itself is doing this weird thing where it can't decide if its in continuity with the original or a complete reboot. Kind of like Avengers Assemble during its first season and Ben 10 Omniverse (which in the latter's case its a continuation but has a shitload of retcons to previously established canon).

For PPG, I know it is a reboot from the different art style and cast. But from a story standpoint on the series, it acts like it is continuing off from the original from the episode where they transfer from Pokey Oaks Kindegarten into a regular school to how the series does't bother to naturally reintroduce the original villains from the series banking on the fact that people who watched this reboot will even remembered them (at least for fans of the original).

So that is the reason I can think of why people confused this for a continuation rather than a reboot. Just like with Teen Titans Go where everybody says its a reboot when in reality its a non canon spin off (or whatever the fuck DD First of the North Star is).

I think Teen Titans Go! has a host of other issues, going on with it. But, yeah, the writing for this show with introducing old elements has been a bit lazy.

Well, I saw the five-parter. I can see why a lot of people don't like the retcon. What would have been a twist is if people started noticing Bliss' backstory had holes in it, and eventually it being revealed that she was made by Him and he altered everyone's memories, like with Dawn from Buffy. I guess Olivia Olsen did a good enough job, I'm only familiar with her as Marceline in Adventure Time, though I've heard she's also in Phineas and Ferb.

[up] So basically make her this show's equivalent to Triumph or Sentry? Yeah that could work.

[up] You mean Bliss isn't the fifth?

Well, technically, she is the first; which would make Bunny is the actual fifth so yeah they already did it . . . assuming of course the reboot will acknowledge that Bunny already exsisted in this continuity like all the other characters who are just there.

Not to sound like a broken record, but I really have to stress that Olivia Olsen did not voice Bliss.

Bliss was voiced by Toya Delazy. And by Wendy Ayche in Australia and the east for some reason...

No, Olson did voice the character in the American edit, she redubbed all of Delazy's lines for the American broadcast.

I get the feeling they might've done it at the last minute. If they did it feels kind of rude to have the actress hired to voice her in the first place get yanked like that.

From what I understand Bliss is voiced by a different actress depending on what region you live in. Olivia Olsen for Canada & America (I think) and Toya Delazy in Africa.

I think saying that the first Black Powerpuff Girl was a creation of the show's equivalent of Satan might have ruffled some feathers.

[up]And because of that they wasted a perfectly good plot . . . even if its a rip off to something Bleedman thought up . . . oh god, I just gave praise to Bleedman, I'M NOT A PEDO DAMMIT!

F'ck it. I liked Powerpuff Girls well enough when I was a kid. I'll start watching this tonight. I kind of weaned off of it after the Manboy and Power Up episodes.

It seems like they managed to keep Professor Utonium and Mojo Jojo's voice actors, or found good replacements.

Almost everyone in the series has the original actors, barring the girls themselves, and a few other select characters.

Well, male Powerpuffs were made by evil monkey in toilet and received by Satan and no one complained...

At very least, nothing can be as bad as reveal that Captain America's partner Falcon was gangster found by Red Skull and brainwashed to be heroic. That really was a thing once.

Well, since we can all agree that Olivia Olson did the American voice of Bliss, I can now actually say that this was one of her weaker performances, and that's nothing against the show itself, that has other issues, but voice acting usually isn't one of them, but for some reason I feel like something's off about Olivia Olson's acting. Maybe I don't notice it normally because she always plays the more laid back characters or something, but she just can't play quirky.

Maybe that's just me, though, and I only notice it because I love voice acting more than anything else in a cartoon series. Well, aside from the music.

I just got to the episode with the squash who sounds like Grouchy Sonic where Buttercup cosplayed Emperor Gruumm! Do you think the zombie bread was some kind of Breadwinners crossover?

Buttercup's voice doesn't seem as ear-grating as it used to be. Either I've gotten used to her or her voice actress' performance has improved. 'Can't say the same for Blossom and Bubbles though. They're still stuck in that "They're trying to emulate the original voices but don't sound identical enough so they're just weird" rut.

It doesn't seem like people really care about this reboot anymore. 'No clue what the target audience thinks, however adults don't seem to care. There were complaints for, like, half of the first season before people got bored. Likewise with the Ben 10 reboot. Unlike Teen Titans Go, they just seem to exist. Bliss made people talk about it again but I doubt any of those people are going to watch any future episodes.
