If they pretend New Jedi Order and Legacy of the Force didn't happen, I won't complain.

Well this feels weird. I'd prefer them to try and somewhat stick to the EU, but that's never going to happen. So the main question is, when will this take place?

As someone who loved all 6 episodes I'm happy to know that there will be new one, no mater what it will show.

But I have hopes it will set around of NJO time and retcon it into oblivion.

The Post-OT EU is waaaay too convoluted; frankly, most of the EU is too convoluted; to have a story based on it. I don't think if there are any problems if they disregard it.

The Thrawn Trilogy is sacred ground. I don't mind if they get rid of Legacy of the Force, though.

Some franchises just need to be quietly retired. This is one of them, even if Disney has had an impressive track record lately.

I want it to be terrible. I want Disney to keep releasing previews, and it's the most horrible thing ever. I want to see if it's possible to make a fandom homicidal.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.

[up]Eh, really everyone's stopped caring at this point; it has nowhere to go but up, or at worst just middlingly mediocre. Star Wars as a franchise has been driven into the ground so hard, it's not like another theatrical release could do much harm to its legacy.

This won't end well.

When will it take place? Will they dare recast the characters due to the actors being way too old? WHY sequels? The focus on the fanbase has been before IV. (Clone Wars, Force Unleashed, Old Republic.)

Indiana 4 will look like a funny joke compared to the potential disaster of SW 7+

You make it sound like everyone in the world only has bitter memories of the franchise.

I have great memories of this franchise.

I didn't even complain about 1-3.

BUT... this is a bad idea. It's a lose all situation. If it was made years ago, it could have worked... but no...

[up][up]Well I mean, if the commercialization and Lucas's handling of the franchise hasn't ruined your perception of it already, it's unlikely another film will.

Star Wars is so big, my cousins, their kids (and thus my nephews and nieces) and my entire extended Chinese immigrant family who barely know english love Star Wars to death. I know many more friends and their families who would love it to the same extent. They're classics, simple as that.

I am tentatively excited...the series has nowhere to go but up, and they've certainly proven they can do Marvel right.

There will be a new trilogy.

No. No. That's not true. That's impossible!

[up] I find your lack of faith disturbing.

So, what's our early wishlists for casts and crew?

Depends on what the film's actually going to be about. I would...understand if they chose to recast the characters in light of the current cast's age.

Although I think it's good that Lucas isn't directing or anything, I still hope he is somewhat involved in the movies. I mean say what you want, but he still starterted the whole star wars thing.

I think the main problem with the prequel trilogy was that he had too much creative control. If he would have has someone to tell him that it may be a good idea to sober up before thinking of characters for the movies.

Yousa see what I mean?
