Well...
This is the same group of companies that brought us The Avengers.
Then again, they also own Fox News.
Disney does not own Fox News. NewsCorp does. Disney does own ABC, though.

Moon◊I think everyone needs to sit down and look at the bigger picture. Disney's been doing perfectly fine in the movie category: their recent animated movies have been pretty good (Wreck it Ralph, the most recent, is doing really great with the critics), and apart from the tween stuff, they're putting out good content.
This also says that Lucas will only be a consultant, and that Kathleen Kennedy will be the executive producer. Let me remind you she was one of the executive producers behind amazing movies like Roger Rabbit, Back to the Future, ET, the first three Indiana Jones, etc.
I actually have high hopes for this. With Lucas out of the director's and hopefully the writer's chair, maybe they'll bring in good people that can actually make a good movie.
Lucas isn't writing or directing it?...
Also, he got 100% of the cash from the transaction. He just earned $4,050,000,000 with one deal.

Lucas not writing or Directing?

At first, I didn't know what to think. Then I found out that Lucas wouldn't be writing or directing it.
...I'll give it a shot. Can't be any worse than Attack of the Clones. Right?
Looking for some stories?Much like when The Mouse House bought Marvel this'll be a big dissapointment for many socially awkward people. The closest thing we'll get to a Disney universe/Star Wars universe crossover is a few well known Star Wars characters guest starring on a Disney animated show (Phineas And Ferb, Gravity Falls and Wander over Yonder)

http://s1.zetaboards.com/Conceptual_Evolution/ http://sagan4.com/forum/index.phpIf they're smart they'll set it far, far in the universe's future with a clean slate to avoid conflicting with the pre-established canon, but...
My Megaman and MegaTen RPG LiveblogsThat or "Episode 7" is something of a placeholder title, and what we're really getting is a film adaptation of Knights Of The Old Republic.
...Yep, fans are gonna rage.
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you!The Star Wars tag on tumblr is entertaining right now. Get the popcorn.
I laugh at the people who think that this will make the new movies reboots with Zac Efron as Luke in a musical set at the Jedi Academy with his kid trying to find a date or something like that. Disney bought Marvel and The Avengers was a perfectly good film. As long as you get people passionate about the franchise behind and in front of the cameras this could turn out really well.
What worries me is their expression of their desire to release a new Star Wars every two or three years. That, and the fact that they own Industrial Light and Magic now. The best and most prolific CG house for blockbusters. Will they still be doing all those movies, of will Disney keep them for their own films?

Respect the Red Right Hand
...I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I hope they throw the post-OT EU out the window. It's always rubbed me wrong, especially Mara Jade. I know a lot of fans love her, but when your character is more story-absorbent than Enoby, you have an issue, Mr. Zahn.

Wat.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.
