https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8UYr48ZGs8 So, a cartoon about a crossdresser boy superhero, thoughts?

That was... Interesting?

I don't know what to say. The Animation's fluid at parts I guess? But that's all I can say.

I really don't want to get hated on if I talk about the idea. Just who the hell thought of it?

Darn it, I wanted to make a thread on this (because I'm more likely than less responsible forits popularity)

...So... Where can I find a legal episode of this bad-boy?!

Seriously, this is kind of cartoon that needs to be made a bit more... Because THIS is/was controversial in a good way!

Weird. I was thinking about this series just a few minutes before I found this thread. Though the version I remember was the Shorty Mc Short Shorts short on Disney Channel way back when. It only aired once due to obvious reasons.

I did say this was controversial in a GOOD way, but... These guys may have a point: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/shezow

Especially this one right here, courtesy of one those commentors (their words, not mine, but there is logic in what is being said here...) especially if one were to look at this: http://www.viddler.com/v/d0371341

Here's the best comment I'll be utilizing to highlight my fear this show will fail (remember, NOT my words): This show looks really cool, too bad it’s a sexist pile of shit.

I would love a show that played tranvestism straight. Hell, if this show would show that Guy wants to be girl inside, and Shezow allows him to do so, that would be amazing.

But this is not this show.

This is show that is about to make fun of girls, transvestites, and homosexuals all while hiding under the label of teaching children that genders are equal.

If you want to teach kids that, defy gender expectations. Make a girl and boy best friends, and never imply romance between them. If that’s too much for you, take a show where the main character is male, and then change the gender to female, then change nothing but the pronouns involved.

You don’t do… this.

(I am very disappointed in Australian Disney.)

For those of you who aren’t in the know (or didn’t watch the linked video), Shezow is a show about a young boy named Guy (very clever). Guy and his twin sister Kelly move into their old Aunt Agnes’s house, where they discover the ring of Shezow. Guy puts it on and transforms into the (female) hero.

This show is about to air in Australia, and if you can’t understand why that’s bad, let me explain it to you.

Imagine when Guy puts on the ring, he transforms into an African American. While transformed, he craves watermelon and fried chicken. Despite this, the show tries to prove that both races are equal.

That is exactly how ass-backwards this shows is.

And unless the quality of the writing/storytelling/characters and development is updated like its animation was, I wholheartedly agree!

The only sexist thing that Shezow hasn't weaponized yet is staying in the kitchen

I'm conflicted. On one hand I can't see this not turning out super offensive. On the other hand; Lipstick Lightsaber.

I'll wait until I actually see an episode before I judge it. It looks more silly than offensive so far, though.

Apparently the mods over at /co/ are worried this is going to turn into another MLP:FIM and they're quickly closing all the threads about it.

[up] Yeah, that's some Ceausescu junk right there. Though another brony epidemic would be pure havoc (speaking as a brony).

on the show: lousy animation, sexist concept. Even worse considering it's Disney, a channel that claims to promote diversity, "being yourself!!", etc.

oh She Zow, please prove me wrong~

your constant harassment of the female gender makes me sick

Disney has nothing to do with it, it is made by Moody Street Kids (an Australian animation studio) and LA-based Kickstart Productions for channel 10 (an Australian channel) with DHX Media having the rights for it worldwide http://kidscreen.com/2011/04/01/dhx-media-takes-on-shezow/

It was originally a short for Shorty Mc Shorts' Shorts (which was made by Disney)

I wonder about the chances this show has to air in the US.
