"Well, they don't need a place to land. They can just head straight back to town on the chopper. But since we're the one's riding in the Jeep, we could stay here and make sure Fang Shadow burned up. Or we could head back to town." Red said, hopping in the driver's seat.
"Up to you."
"Oh yeah, your bat's in the back. Thanks for the loan." Red said.

"We can come down pretty low where you are, but I couldn't land her there; you'd have to hand them up to us. And right fast too, before the bloody runners catch up" Flyer responded on the radio, as he started to turn the helicopter to face away from the jeep. "If that's the plan, I'll fly away a bit first, to give us more time with the runners, right" he continued, and waited for a response.
The shirt burning was mild at first, but after a bit it looked like flickers of the flame were catching on the wall of the building; if nothing put the fire out, this building would eventually go down. How long that would take, was uncertain.
The only part Recon probably hadn't compensated for was the monster beginning to react as he started firing. With the first shot it stopped moving, probably about to perk up to find where the shots were coming from; before it had time, the second shot hit it, evidenced by the sudden screech of pain. It was a giant rat for sure; Recon knew that screech. The size was likely just a bit bigger than himself.
After that it started scrabbling into motion, instinctively running from the new danger. It was impossible to tell for sure, but it would seem to Recon that he must have scored at least two or three hits out of the seven shots. However, now that the rat had moved from where it was, and since it wasn't moving directly towards him or away from him, he lost track of it. Turning on thermal for a bit again would likely find it.
You are reading this.Recon quickly turned on thermal vision and whipped out what looked to be a quadruple-barreled shotgun. Relying on the massive spread and the sheer volume of buckshot, he aimed it carefully and fired it off. He wasn't aiming to kill, but to wound by scoring painful shots on his prey.
The noise was tremendous, enough to deafen anything in the vicinity, including Recon himself if it wasn't for his helmet.

(OOC:Doing a little hand wave for the next sequence)
"Alright, will be back quick, right" Flyer said into the radio, and started to fly away.
Dune looked at Jerry, nodded, then slung his rifle. "Here, I doubt they can just hold on" Dune said, and started to help Jerry get the rope tied up into their best attempt at a sort of sling. (Really just a glorified hoop.)
Flyer brought the helicopter around in a wide circle, letting the runners waste as much time as possible just trying to chase after it. Finally he came back towards the jeep and flew in low, bringing it to a quick stop just over the jeep. Dune and Jerry together lowered the rope, and Dale and Red helped to get Anarchy and Kirk on the rope and up to the helicopter, one at a time.
Since Anarchy had the broken leg, they put her in the back where she could just barely lie down, while Kirk went into the front seat, groaning. "Jeeze Kirk, I don't know if I've seen you have it worse" Flyer said as he quickly broke the helicopter away and back again, to make sure the charging runner horde wouldn't go right over the jeep. Then he made a wide half circle around them, making sure the runners were still chasing the helicopter, then broke into full speed in the direction of Green Fields.
Kirk took a bit to respond, but finally chuckled a little. "You know, other than hurting like a bitch, I don't think it's too bad" Kirk said, obviously with a bit of sarcasm.
Back at the jeep, the runners currently weren't a threat, but the longer they stuck around the more likely it was that other things would show up.
Aiming to wound rather than kill at this range with buckshot was quite difficult; in the end most of the shot missed entirely as a result, but the rat screeched again and kept running about frantically after its back got hit by some of the buckshot.
With thermal still on, he still had a good track of it between the brush. For a moment it disappeared entirely behind something closer to Recon that was more solid than mere brush, maybe a tree or something; it was hard to tell with thermal still on, but it was the same temperature as all the brush. However it soon appeared again, still running about frantically; the rat either had no idea where Recon was or was more interested in living than fighting. The former seemed a bit more likely, because it would probably run directly away from him in the latter case.

You are reading this."Well shit," Dale said after they had loaded up the wounded on the helicopter, and he had gotten back into the passenger seat. "Those runners are gonna be here any minute, and with the beatings we've taken and the Minimi all out, we sure as hell can't fight a hundred of them off." He pulled out the Zippo he had bought from the caravan. "If you want to light anything on fire, do it fast. But then you better start driving, since we're gonna probably have to stop and pump that tire when it runs low, and I sure as hell want to be outta here by then."

I'm about to unleash a theory I've had in my head for a long time now.
"You're right." Red said and started to drive the Jeep back to town, hoping the runners would lose interest.
"Now, Dale. I had a sudden spark of inspiration while we were fighting all of those runners." Red said as he was driving.
"Don't tell any of the hunters this but I have me a suspicision. I think Shevon is the succbus. I know that sounds crazy but think about it. Emerson said he'd never seen the succubus near that dome house and, yet, when we come there, it suddenly appears out of nowhere. Not only that, but it didn't really kill or seduce any of us when it could have. My guess is that Succubus Shevon has a grudge with Fang Shadow. That's why she keeps sending us out to go get him and not sending us out to track the succubus. S He claims Fang has the town under siege but when have we seen any sign of siege? Yeah, a few runners and some rats but most towns have a few strays like that. What do you think?" Red monologued to Dale.
"Jesus, that thing can take a lot of punishment," Recon grumbled, reloading the shotgun and putting it back.
He guessed the thing that the rat disappeared behind was another hostile, a zombie or something. He decided it was time to take a closer look. He entered the brush, stalking quietly and ready for anything. He always kept his senses open to blindside attacks.

With Red's bout of pyromania over, Dale put his lighter away again unused, and leaned back in the seat, resting his right hand, listening to what the other man had to say.
"Hmmmm...." he whistled. "Well, it wouldn't be the craziest shit I've ever heard, and some of that other stuff was true, so it's not impossible. But wouldn't all the people in town wonder who that new woman calling herself sheriff is? Unless... it killed the real one and just took her place. Oh, but wait, you remember the first morning here? When Garnet showed us that shovel gun of hers? Doc had that little plant that was supposed to point at monsters. It pointed at us, and not Shevon. I... I think. I'm not too big on magic, but we could ask Doc to make us another plant. Then we just gotta figure out a way to use it near her."
Red nodded at Dale's plant suggestion.
"Wait. What if Doc is in league with her? Maybe he sabotaged the plant deliberately so it wouldn't reveal Shevon. In fact, we don't know who's in league with her or not. We better keep this to ourselves, I think. Maybe if we bumped into her with a crucifix or something..." Red said as he manuevered the doorless Jeep around obstacles.
"I think crucifixes are just for vampires," Dale said. "I don't really know of a way to know for sure if someone's a succubus... well... actually...." he thought a moment, looking at that ax Red had taken from the dead skeleton. "Oh, oh, wait. I got it." He smiled when he thought he had devised of a plan.
"I'll trick her into seducing me. If she's really a succubus she'll reveal her true form, and then you bust in and bash her head with that ax. Hey - do we even know where she lives? I've only ever seen her at the station or around town."

"They're hangin on by a thread, Red" Dale said, " And who knows how long it'll take to get back driving on that tire. They'll have to airlift them. We could try watching this place burn down on our own and shooting what moves, or just getting the hell out."
