Mission

Flyer brought the helicopter to a hover, a ways down the street from where Anarchy was, opposite of Dale. "This seems like the best spot" Flyer said to Dune and Jerry, not through the radio. It did indeed give them a clear view of Anarchy, while the attracted horde of runners was assembling directly below them and thus not swarming Anarchy or Dale. "Alright, we've got her covered, now go get her, right" Flyer added into the radio, audible to Red, Dale, Anarchy, and the figures in the building nearby.

"Damn it, I thought they'd keep circling. Alright, change of plans; go, now! All of you!"

Not a moment later, three skeletons suddenly emerged from the building next to where Anarchy was on the street. One was covered in chainmail armor with a solid helmet and gauntlets; it held no weapon, but the gauntlets were spiked along the knuckles. Neither of the other two had armor, but one had a fire axe, and the other a home-made extremely short double barreled shotgun.

The one with the shotgun swept the street while the other two moved to Anarchy and grabbed her shoulders, then tried to start dragging her to the building they just exited. This was all visible to Dale was well, who was about seventy feet away.

Around this time, farther down the street, Red had just gotten to the point where he couldn't do much more with the hand pump. The tire now seemed good enough to drive on, if only for a while.

Green Fields

"Well then Recon and Jim, you can call me Sheriff Shevon" Shevon introduced herself as she stepped away from the wall to go get something out of one of the office desks. "The rest of the bounty hunters are out right now, so you'll have to wait until they're back to start working" she continued, grabbing two walkie talkies from the desk drawer and stepping back over to the evidence locker turned ammunition room.

"Here, thanks to a GPS station not far away we can use these for communication" Shevon said, offering the walkie talkies to the two men, then quickly explaining which frequency they were using for the bounty hunters, which one was for the town's police, and which one was for the bounty hunters to call back to town in the middle of a mission if they needed to. "Well that's that. You might as well go get yourselves an unclaimed room at the motel while you wait. If you need anything else, we've got a doctor set up in a bookstore down the street who keeps some info about monsters on hand, and our town engineer stays in an auto shop just a couple streets over" she continued, motioning in the directions of the bookstore and auto shop.

"... Though I think right now she's actually working on one of the room heaters in the motel" Shevon muttered after a moment of thought.

"Alright, that should do it..." Red said to himself.

"Roger that Flyer. I got the Jeep ready to go again so I'll swing by and pick Anarchy and Dale up. Then we can get the hell out of here." Red radioed as he hopped in the Jeep. Before he started it, he went to Kirk's side and looked to see how he was doing.

"Kirk, are you alright man?" he asked, hoping the answer was yes.

Anarchy got a look up at the figures, seeing a thin white figure before her vision went black and she slumped, unconscious, letting whoever it was dragging her, take her to it's lair.

Seeing the skeletons, Dale was regretting giving Red the bat, since it would be pretty useful right about now. But he couldn't have risked leaving Red with no weapons, so there was no time for more second-guessing.

"They're taking her - three skeletons at least," Dale said over the radio as he ducked behind a car. He'd be dead if that skeleton hit him, so he had to take it out before continuing. He got his P90 ready, then with a deep breath, he got back up and set his gun down on the hood for stability, taking aim at the skeleton. Instead of trying to hit one of its vital organs important parts, he aimed at its shotgun, and fired a ten-round burst. Assuming he was still alive after that, he'd duck back down again.

Mission

The only response Red got from Kirk was a pained, "Nnnugh." Kirk was still alive, but he wasn't doing too well.

Far down the street, Dale's burst of fire mostly just zipped through the air past the skeleton he was aiming for. But as it started to turn in response, one of the last bullets hit it in the wrist, snapping the connection and making its hand drop to the ground, taking the shotgun with it. It started to lean down to pick it back up with its other hand.

Up in the air, Dune fired a shot from his rifle, catching the non-armored skeleton that was starting to drag Anarchy in the head, killing it in a sudden shower of bones on the ground. The armored skeleton kept trying to drag Anarchy, but couldn't do it as quickly alone. "Jerry come on! I can't get that armored one with this gun!" Dune yelled as he started to aim for his second shot. He let out a low curse as he saw what happened next.

And that was two more skeletons emerging from the building. One of them was holding a plastic bucket by the handle for some reason, while the second had a butcher knife. The one with the knife looked towards the helicopter, then looked down the other direction of the street, spotting Dale. It did not move towards him though, it just took cover behind a car and kept looking towards him, watching what he was doing. The one with the bucket moved to take the place of the skeleton that had just been killed; helping to drag Anarchy to the building.

Green Fields

"Hunting fields? Not really. You could take a walk out in the overgrown farm fields if you're looking to just take on some strays, but don't expect us to come running to your rescue if you get into trouble" Shevon answered Recon, stepping over to one of the desks and sitting down in the office chair there.

"It's not like that will really accomplish much anyway, but you're free to go ahead if you just need something to do while we wait for the rest of the bounty hunters to get back" Shevon added, taking a moment to relax.

Recon looked genuinely surprised.

"You guys don't have organized hunting fields?" he asked, intrigued. "Interestin'."

Nevertheless, he nodded in thanks.

"I think that's what I'll do. Might as well get acquainted with the local fauna."

He strode out the door, humming a quiet tune to himself as he headed out to see what he could kiil.

Dale took off running down the street, heading in the direction of the skeleton and trying to put cars between them. He was going to try to close as much distance as he could before it picked up the gun, then try shooting the gun again with another 10-round burst like he had just done.

Red grimaced at Kirk's obvious pain and climbed in the front of the Jeep. He started it up and started to drive to Anarchy's location. He drove slowly, so as not to upset the tire.

Jerry face went stone cold, "Not on my watch." He said shooting the armored skeleton in the head with the Savage, then shot the one with the cleaver as well. Aiming for the head.

Mission

By the time the skeleton stood back up with the shotgun in hand, Dale had covered half the distance, putting him only thirty five feet away. This time his burst was much more accurate, catching the shotgun almost immediately and sending it flipping away down the street.

Meanwhile a shot from Jerry's savage rang out, followed almost immediately by one from Dune's rifle; the two skeleton's dragging Anarchy went down practically simultaneously, dropping her in a small pile of bones.

The skeleton with the knife had started to move after Dale's attack, standing up and beginning to move towards him. It got just around the car it was behind when Jerry fired again, and the round caught the skeleton in the neck. The body of the skeleton came apart and scattered to the ground while the skull went flipping through the air... And landed on the hood of the car Dale was taking cover behind, a couple feet away from his hands. At first it just seemed dead, but then the jaw started opening and closing, failing to do anything other than clack its teeth.

The last skeleton standing, the one that previously had the shotgun, took a quick look around then moved towards Anarchy. It reached for one of her shoulders, making one last attempt to get her into the building.

Meanwhile down the street, Red had to drive a bit slow anyway; the street was still pretty clogged up with abandoned cars. But by the time the events mentioned above were finished, he was about halfway to where Anarchy was.

Green Fields

"Just a week ago we had nobody free to go out hunting" Shevon said dismissively with a shrug as Recon left.

Obviously, there wasn't really anything for him to hunt in the town, so Recon would have to go to one of the gates. The guard, once he noticed that Recon wanted out, started to open up the door. "Careful, the monsters tend to use the fields to stay out of sight. Especially the rats" the guard warned him once it was open.

Out ahead of Recon was a road leading out straight into the distance. On both sides of the road were what were once farm fields extending out for miles; now they were all overgrown with all kinds of plants and underbrush, the majority of which came up about five feet. No monsters were in sight from the gate.

Dale hopped onto the hood of the car to get to the other side, and stomped on the skeleton's head to finish the job as he made his way over the vehicle. He picked up the fallen knife, just in case, then took off down the street again. He ran towards the shotgun. When he got there, he would put the knife in his left hand in a very loose grip, and grab the shotgun with his right.

"We're gonna have to load her up in a hurry, Red, so get ready," Dale said over the radio.

"Wait, there's still a skeleton." He said into his radio, "Let me get it." He then fired the last round in his clip at the skeleton (aiming for the head of course) attempting to drag Molly/Anarchy away.

Mission

The last of the skeletons saw Dale approaching and started to hurry, thinking he was coming to stop it; but then he ran past to go get the shotgun instead, which gave the skeleton a moment of pause in its dragging.

That turned out to be its undoing, as the final round from Jerry's savage shattered its skull into several pieces. Anarchy was once again dropped, with bones scattered around her.

At that point, though it was hard to actually make out and may have been his imagination, Dale would hear a Male voice from the building Anarchy was being dragged to give a quick "damn it." But by the time he would get over to investigate, there was no sign of anyone there.

In not too much time after that, Red would arrive with the jeep. It seemed like it was a good time to load up Anarchy and anything they wanted to loot and go, unless they had any more ideas.

Green Fields

"You'll probably only encounter zombies and giant rats out there, maybe some dire wolves. We know that vampire bastard has also been using ghouls and skeletons, but they are usually kept at specific places from what I gather" the guard said to Recon, taking a quick look out at the fields himself. "Supposedly there's also a succubus in the area, but honestly we think it's more likely that she's somewhere in town already, impersonating somebody here" he added, looking back into the town with a bit of nervousness and suspicion in his expression.

"What the...." Dale wondered to himself. Zombies usually didn't talk, that must mean the vampire was nearby. Where, though, he had no idea. "Red," he radioed over, talking quietly, "Be careful, I think the vampire's around. Jerry, you see anyone moving?"

"I saw you motherfucker!" he called out loudly, "surrender or our sniper will blow your brains out."

He put the knife back in his backpack, grabbed the shotgun in his right hand, and fired it at one of the second story windows.

Red arrived just as Dale was radioing him. So, instead of walkie-talkieing him back, Red simply called out from the Jeep when he came in view.

"Will do. I aint scared of that bloodsucker though. Not with this many hunters around." Red said as he got out of the Jeep. As he was walking towards Anarchy, he spotted the fireaxe.

"Cool!" he said as he picked it up and examined it. Red, before this mission in Green Fields had been a part-time bounty hunter at best, taking up random hunting jobs when he couldn't find anyone to box. In fact, he'd had only three missisions before this one in Green Fields, two of which was just a blanket bounty on walkers, while the other had Red tracking down a fugitive. However, if he was going to stick with this bounty hunting for the long haul, he might need a weapon beyond his usual fists.

Not a gun of course, but an axe would do nicely if he ever got too up close and personal with runners again. He stuck the axe in his belt and walked over to Anarchy, picked her up and carried her to the Jeep.

Anarchy stirred slightly, coming back to concious looking around before she suddenly shouted, however it only reached the volume of her normal speaking voice.

It was obvious who the dominant personality was at the moment.

"Thanks for the heads-up," Recon called up before heading out into the field.

He crouched low, hiding himself like he had done before in the town, and looked over the long grass. Unable to see anything, he switched to thermal vision, hoping for telltale glimpses of orange and red between the grass stalks.

Mission

There was no response to Dale's yelling, nor his shotgun blast, except for a few of the runners under the helicopter down the street looking over. Thankfully they quickly returned their attention to the helicopter.

"If that vampire bloke's in that building, then he's got nowhere to go. Sunlight's blocking all the exits" Flyer pointed out through the radio. It was almost noon, with the sun coming nearly straight down, so none of the buildings' shadows reached the building in question. Specifically a two story building that looked like some kind of warehouse/office hybrid.

Dune leaned into the cockpit again so he could he heard over the radio. "Guys, if you're going to try and get him, do it quick. We've got two people who need to get back to town ASAP" Dune said, then glanced back at Jerry. "I just spotted Kirk in the back of the jeep. Arrow through the chest" he explained, motioning towards the jeep.

Green Fields

Unfortunately, due to the heatwave going on since morning, almost everything was hot through Recon's thermal vision. It was likely that animals and people would still stick out enough, but the real problem was that it was starting to hurt his eyes.

Fortunately within a few moments Recon discovered that yes, animals still stuck out enough. Some hundred feet away was something large but low-profiled and four legged moving through the field at a calm walking pace. Discerning exactly what it was was currently impossible, but there wasn't exactly that many options. It was not moving towards him or away from him, and it didn't seem likely that it had noticed him yet.

"I got a better idea!" Red radioed after he'd loaded Anarchy in the Jeep.

"I'll set fire to this building. Then I'll drive Anarchy and Kirk back to town, while you guys in the chopper can cover the building and finish him off. Right?" Red said, as he went over to the building. He took off his ripped shirt Shirt number 3 to be lost for the record set it down near the entrance of the building, lit a match, and tossed it on the shirt. He then lit another match and threw it on the already burning shirt. Couldn't hurt to be careful. Then he headed back towards the Jeep.

"Dale, you coming with me?"

"Motherfucker. Should've done this during the evening," he grumbled to himself, turning the thermal vision off.

He remembered the animal profile, but he wasn't willing to risk going in and getting blindsided by a skeleton. He quietly drew his two pistols, leveled one at the animal figure in the distance, and fired a burst of 7 rounds. He fired that many to compensate for the grass getting in the way, as at least one or two would be able to punch through.
