It's science. We don't have to explain it!

At an advanced enough level, science becomes indistinguishable from magic!

Specifically, comic book science, which is advanced enough to effectively be magic.

Suppose you had a genetic profile of an altered human type hero (read Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Captain America, or the Flash over at DC) from before they were altered. Theoretically speaking, howzabout you break them down into energy, ala Star Trek's transporter, and then reintegrate using the old template? I recall once on Next Generation that Dr.Pulaski contracted something that rapidly aged her, and they cured her by getting her previous genetic profile from a hair they got from her hairbrush, loading it into the transporter, and then breaking her down and then re-integrating her.

Any science which is distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced!
