You guys are way too uptight about this. Pepper feared her gags would become an old hat, so she tried new ones, and the mean ones selled. It reminded me of that one Spongebob episode, "Squirrel Jokes".
In this episode, Russell creates an alternate personality and becomes a completely different person. He also sings a rad song and juggles chainsaws and dances hula. I don't see what the bad thing about this is. Also, panda, dog and monkey already had episodes, and they were completely different from this. We only need an episode for Vinnie, which I am excited for. I like Vinnie, he's pretty cool.
Also, for all the people worried this will never find a fanbase, it
already
◊ has
.
I believe you on the fan-base part, but this show needs stronger writing and character development than it currently has first for the fan-base to stay around... That's what I'm saying!
And keep in mind, I like this show - I'm not looking for Friendship Is Magic's popularity levels - just another decent show to watch on this channel so I'm not always watching Friendship Is Magic, only for it to get stale (which if recent episodes have been so far, it's thankfully not, but still...What about the other shows).

Damn straight - and I've been around. Whether online to say something about it or not!
"Gailbreak" had pretty strong writing, M. A. Larson was behind that one. It was a very enjoyable episode. I hope he directs more episodes. You know, I think the good thing would be if they made more episode plots where the humans and the pets have one big plot together, not episodes where the plot is being split between humans and pets. And I don't know if I'll "stick around" with this cartoon after it's done and finished, I don't even know if I'll still like cartoons in two or three years. But right now, I'm having fun. It doesn't have to be terrific or the best thing ever, it's something I relax to and have some fun with after I come home from work. Also, if I may say so, I think the pets are excellent characters. The humans, especially Blythe's friends, not so much, but the pets are very enjoyable characters in my eyes.
So far, I have to admit this show is coming along well enough, but I don't see it being the next big thing, nor getting the bigger fan-base it could be capable of (maybe that's for the best...) - the writing and character development still needs work. That, and it would be nice if not every episode was about some kind of misunderstanding...

This is where I, the Vampire Mistress, proudly reside: http://liberal.nationstates.net/nation=nova_nacioThe latest episode coming out tomorrow (Dec. 29) has me worried - it just reeks of sexism and is going to piss people off/turn them off this series for good - I just know it...
EDIT - I watched it... Thankfully enough, I was just overreacting.

I overreacted... Thankfully enough. The promos for this recent episode simply rubbed me the wrong way. Thankfully, it wasn't enough to hurt the actual episode as a whole. Hell, despite my overreaction, this recent episode was a hell of a lot more enjoyable than this week's Friendship Is Magic, which really/unfortunately sucked (especially for my favorite character, Spike) IMHO.

lol, so it's not sexism because it ended up being the girls doing something dumb?
I love how Madame Pom had the attitude of a diva, but didn't have the 'rudeness' one would expect. I am sure the second people saw her, they thought she was some 'stuck up' dog who would put others down. lol and it turns it was Zoe who acted rude and even insulted Pom the second she appeared.

To tell the truth, I overreacted - the promos and the way certain scenes in that episode went just rubbed me the wrong way. But it handled itself well in the end, and I proudly admit I overreacted and greatly underestimated this show. And not just with that episode, but with your example of the latest episode as well.
Overall, I'm sorry this show isn't as big or popular as Friendship Is Magic, but so far, I'm enjoying it too much to care about that too much at this point...

It's okay, I know what you mean. ^_^
The typical "boys are dumb and girls are smart" 'make you feel better about yourself trope'. I get tired of it myself, because it seems some creator/writers get stuck and can't balance out a character being too smart that they are just straight logical or simply too dumb to breath.
So far I think the show is balancing out the characters and gender ratio pretty well.
That's because up to the current episode, not every character is shown to be agenius or too dumb to live, which gives this show its balance to thankfully enough avoid lapsing into that trope you mentioned - I'm thankful, especially if those working on this show can keep it up as well...

This is where I, the Vampire Mistress, proudly reside: http://liberal.nationstates.net/nation=nova_nacioHey Lost,if you need more Hub goodness,...why not try Transformers Prime?
I have (that and Dan Vs.) - Overall, I'm glad this channel is kicking some much needed ass...
Things I like so far
- Characters standing out. While Sunil Nevla is definitely my favorite, however, I find all the lead pets likeable.
- The background / supporting characters having such unique designs. It is if there are no noticeable copy/paste designs even when there is a crowd.
- All the lead pets got their own centric episode / focus within the first season! It took up to three seasons for each main pony to even have bit parts in one episode. =_=*
- Random song breaks.
- Blythe's appearance changes.
- Et cetera
Sort of bothersome
- Background and aerial shots lack detail. Though likely excuse that it gives the animators more focus on character design and animation.
- I hope 'characters-of-the-day' doesn't get stale. But so far, even the arrogant / egotistic ones are humorous.
Things that annoy me so far
- Brony hypocrisy
- People attempting to match up the pets with Fi M characters... and not making sense of it. Sunil has been labeled as being Applejack and then Fluttershy and even Trixie. Stating Minka is 'homage' to Pinkie based on palette color.
- No word if Hasbro is going to make the larger Blythe doll mainstream again. I really want one...
