As with Ho N (and the original Do TA), most of the community sticks to the place with the best or most extensive (regardless of quality) theorycrafting. The official forums for 2 and the fan forums for 1 beat our little hangout in that respect.
Also, I'm pretty sure everyone else is occupied with League.
presumably because there aren't enough anime girls in DOTA 2
I've won with (and often enough have lost against) alchemist, but it heavily depends how good your team manages early game. Got my best gold per minute with him (no surprise) at 792. My favorite hero is crystal maiden. Very easy to use if you ask me.
Wait, then what is 'Lina, the Slayer' supposed to be?
Or is the implication that is not enough?
Lina (EDIT:Ninja'ed by Ken-er-Pikachu). Also Bambi, and that flying blue toad who definitely has a good enough VA for it.

I wish Valve would region lock the game. I'm getting really annoyed at having the worst luck and getting tossed into pub matches where everyone but me speaks Spanish or Russian. How am I supposed to play with someone whose only way of communicating with me is, "You feed, Kev-O. I report you now."?
This is one of the few times I've seen support for region locking.
It's a game that requires loads of communication. If you can't communicate well, shit gets fucked.
Well, I tried playing Alchemist again in an offline practice game... my lane went to hell about ten minutes in and remained that way for the rest of the game.
Anyone notice that the offline pactice bots are really intent on kill-stealing? As in, you gank a Dazzle or something in the river, get him down to 25 HP, and then Sven rushes in and kills him with his stun. Or Zeus's ult, or something similar.
Bots do not understand the concept of sharing. Just murder.
It's obviously to match the average player. Artificial Brilliance, baybee.
No, the bots don't say "cyka" or "bliat" enough to pass as real players.

I know for sure that the bots aren't people because one will always buy the courier.
And you can play whatever hero you want without "gg noob [hero] on our team report pls end now"
They wanted to match the average player's playing, not everything.

Well... I tried an actual online game with Alchemist this morning. We still lost (Drow+Sniper on the enemy team equals rape) but I at least managed to get a few kills in.
Oddly enough, I found that Hand of Midas is pretty good on Alchemist, seeing as how you still get bonus gold from Midas'ing enemies.
Honestly, I'm glad this is coming out. Nyx and Kot L also needed a slight nerf. Now all that's left is Phantom Lancer and his absurd Agility gains.

PA seems to get roflstomped in most pro games where he's not allowed to snowball, just like AM.
Problem is, most pub gamers can't stop a PL from going out of control. As long as the PL isn't a dumbfuck who specs into Juxtapose early, he's got a very high chance of murdering everyone ever.
Finally, now I'll never have to play another game without hearing "RESPECT THE DEAD, BUT FIRST YOU'LL HAVE TO EARN IT" and "LET ME GET MY ARROWS, THEN YOU CAN DIE" over and over and over again.
Drow is dead! Huzzah!
For all the unique and awesome voice acting in the game, Drow has got to be the most dull and generic of all characters. It's kinda grating honestly.
She sounds like a very uninterested old black woman.
Of course, now that Drow's been nerfed, Phantom Lancer will become the next "nerf pls" hero. I play PL quite a bit, so that's a bit of a shame, although it is true that he can snowball out of control if not ganked constantly.
Phantom Lancer is annoying, but is he really any worse then any illusion spamming hero?
