Das Finale 2 trailer from the livestream. Things of note; Das Finale 2 is confirmed in 2 June 2019 and Viking Fisheries is confirmed making an appearance.

[up]There's no specific date yet for Das Finale Part 2. You've mistaken the "2" on the trailer as a date but it is not. It just said "Part 2 coming June 2019".

So, I discovered this series after seeing Youtube's meme WW2 historian Potential History's videos on it, and I must say that I enjoy this series a lot.

There's a lot of characters to keep track, and it takes me a lot to even start registering the names (reading subs makes it hard for me to appreciate what goes on, specially when they go so fast).

But the relationships of the different tank crews in Oarai, and how Miho keeps making friends and allies out of all of the also wonderful rival teams, it's just a really wholesome and optimistic anime filled with really charming characters.

I'm not really into anime, there's only a handful of series I ever completed (and we're talking like more than a decade ago the last time I sat to complete something), but I'm really glad to have found this one.

Gotta say, I'm specially in love with anime Anchovy and the whole Anzio school really. They might be the butt of jokes, but their determination to keep going even when the odds are ridiculously stacked against them (I honestly feel the are probably the ultimate underdog of the introduced schools), and just their great sportmanship and fun dispositions make them a riot.

If I were to be reincarnated into an anime schoolgirl in the GuP universe, I'd probably attend Anzio and praise Duce.

Have you already watched the movie? There's more schools and more crazy tank shenanigan in it.

Finished the series, watched half the ovas, and skipped to the Anzio OVA. I'll probably finish the OVAs first and then the movie.

And I've read some of the 4koma manga.

I'm on the fence on the other stories, in part because of length, but also because what I've heard about them makes it sound like they have a different tone to the main series.

@Mr Seyker: You may want to know that Anchovy gets a very different characterization in the official manga adaptation of GuP. Not to spoil much, but she's rather... not so fun-loving and amicable, at least to people from outside Anzio.

Man, this series is like a black hole zeroing on my heart.

Saw the whole series, its ovas, Anzio ova, the movie and its ova.

I'm letting der finale ova sit for the moment.

Been listening to the soundtrack (those marches are ridiculously good), saving tons of fanart.

And if I happen to cross path with any figurine, I'm probably gonna burn some serious cash.

I've seen pics of the Anchovy figurines and I want them all.

Das Finale 2 is in Japanese theaters since yesterday. Only need to wait for several months for the BD, but you can go to twitter for the euphoria. Don't worry about spoiler because the Japanese have a pretty strict no-spoiler code, you can still see other things there like new artworks.

Well Bandai Namco Arts did release the first 10 minutes of Das Finale Part 2 on Youtube:

and they recently posted a new PV of Das Finale Part 2(with new scenes) on Youtube yesterday:

Seen them.

Sodoko and the Morals Committee continue to grow as a team, playing mind games on BC Freedom.

And Chi-Ha-Tan is playing to their strenghts in favorable terrain. Can't wait to see that match.

It seems we'll learn more about Momo's family, which has me intrigued.

And you can see Anchovy and Anzio pull off a new strategy, swarming enemy tanks with their CV33s, so that the P40 can take out the immobilized target.

I wish.

No, those are details I picked up from the previews and some spoilers I hunted down.

Eclair is canon!

I've been looking with envy at the pics of all the sweet merch that get uploaded on Twitter wishing I could be there.

They aparently released some pamphlets with the movie, and one you can get is of an egg against a starry background with the smoking turret of a Chi-Ha poking through.

A bunch of japanese fans were utterly confused at that one.

On the one hand, I feel bad for them, but on the other, I'm laughing at the bizarre reference.

[up] I see, that's a shame. You had me excited that we had someone who had seen the film and therefore was ready to talk about it! It's cool, I can wait for the home release, which will let everyone catch up.

[up][up]That's a homage to the poster of the movie Howard the Duck. And it's not really that bizarre since Chihatan used Inflatable duck heads during the fight with University team in Der Film and were influenced with Oarai's Duck team.

[up] Yep. Getting the reference is why I thought it was hillarious, but those fans didn't and were not particularly happy with their luck (specially since the other pamphlet they could get showed the Chi-Ha-Tan girls along with the tank).

I could picture a MLLSD strip of internet-saavy Fukuda coming up with the Chi-Ha-Tan/Duck Team homage in-universe, utterly confusing everyone (specially Nishi).

I dunno if people had seen this before, but here's a fanmade ongoing 4koma of the Girls Und Panzer cast as kids. It's, for the most part, absolutely adorable.

Just a heads up, heartsrings are seriously pulled where Anchovy is concerned.

BD for Das Finale 2 is here, along with a OVA about BC Freedom. I end up respecting BC, especially Marie so much for the rest of the match.

So, I caved in and watched the subs the moment they were available (I've been dying from anticipation since the extended clips showed up on Youtube).

That was really fun. It's interesting how for Das Finale the tournament is putting a lot of focus on the rivals themselves, this episode showed in great detail the innerworkings of BC Freedom, and we finally see first hand Fukuda's efforts to change the Chihatan tactics book (which we've been getting hints at since the cd drama, and have been reinforced several times in the 4koma strips).

Not to say that Nishi hasn't been instrumental, and she takes things a step forward in an unexpected way.

The Sharks are still quite green, they still need to prove themselves in combat, but it seems Ogin has found her drive so I expect their attitude to change in future episodes.

The montage of the rival schools was really fun. While they decided to give us only small glimpses of the new schools, I like them already (specially Koala Forest). And they made my girl Eclair canon. Shame she still can't break her bad luck, but points for effort.

The slice of life moments were really cute, we see more of the girls hobbies and even some interpersonal relationships that are forming outside of Oarai. And we finally see glimpses of Momo's backstory. I still really want to know what angle they are trying to take with her character arc.

I want to believe Momo will gain confidence and become a real commander, she is taking small strides in the Chihatan battle (her Panzer Vor is a lot less shaky).

Mallard has so far not lasted long in the matches, but they do provide rather solid teamwork and they were instrumental in the BC Freedom fight (and quite possibly made a decisive choice in the Chihatan battle). I do like the characterization of the trio, with more of Pazomi's personality comming through, nice showcases of how Gomoyo differs, and Sodoko not necesarily relaxing her but toning down her strictness where appropiate.

There's a really nice interaction between Sodoko and Mako that I'll take as shipping fuel, thank you very much.

The real breakout of the chapter however is Marie. She leaves quite a bad impression in Part 1, but goddamn does her character turn around in Part 2. It might seem that she indulges in her sweet tooth (and other fancy activites) in inappropriate moments, but she has confidence to spare and will give her all to achieve victory. She's surprisingly badass, and it's easy to see why she commands respect of both school factions.

And now, the waiting begins again. It's gonna be hard, but at least I have the 4komas.

Have you seen the BD OVA? There, they basically spell out on how Marie gain respect from the two factions, while also showing just what kind of hijinks BC Freedom uses to fool Yukari.
