Well, I haven't heard great things about 4E, but I'd really like to play some d20 tabletop, as my current group is on indefinite hiatus right now. I haven't played 4E before, so I am unfamiliar with it, but I have played 3.5 and Pathfinder (And I suppose currently being in a playthrough of Planescape: Torment translates into some experience in 2E??).
So a quick google reveals the existence of an SRD for 4E, so I guess I'll read that for the basics like it says to on the wiki..
Oh, and I do also have experience with shonen, having watched such things as Dragon Ball Z and Digimon when I was younger.
As for maptools, I don't have that but that is easily remedied.
I don't have an IRC program, but would Mibbit be okay?
Edit: The SRD I found was not at all what I thought it would be and not at all useful. Damnit.

Well, the Time of Game is pretty non-negotiable I'm afraid: 8:00 to 12:00ish EST is about the only time I'm available to DM.
And yeah, you'll have to somehow get the full rules of the game. The 4E rules aren't open source though, so you probably can't get it (legally) for free, unless you borrow some books from some friends, or borrow someone's DDI account or something like that.
Alright. Do you have any previous roleplaying experience?
Also, have you read the main page of the wiki?
Ordinarily, I tend to try and avoid newbies, but I'm running a lower level game, and there's a lot less in the way of "mandatory" feats and items in this campaign due to how I'm handling gear (or rather, how I'm NOT handling gear).

Mibbit should be fine? IRC is IRC after all. I generally recommend mIRC, but whatever works best for you is fine.
This game is very heavy on the gameplay/story segregation elements. What were the horror stories about 4E you've heard? PM me about your preference in play styles and I'll be able to tell you whether or not the campaign is a good fit for you or not.
Well, we'd probably occasionally break early if there's a convenient stopping point. But 4 hour is the "default" "scheduled" amount of RP time.
And sure, talk to Kyle, he'll be good at scaring you off considering he was in TGD. This campaign is wildly different from that one though (that was a bare-bones plot game that was primarily combat, this is a lot more story driven).
Oh, no, nothing like that. After all, I'm not crazy or anything. It's more that there's more downtime between event flags so there's more time to fart around, and the NP Cs are a bit more developed and arguably more colorful.
In all seriousness, this game is a lot more open to going off the rails, in part because the methodology I've used for constructing encounters-and the emphasis of encounters as part of the game-has changed.

From the mind that brought you a bunch of campaigns most of which collapsed-but hey, The Golden Dragon managed to survive until completion!-comes the new masterpiece. Born from months worth of campaign development, surveying house rules from numerous campaigns (okay, one, but still!), and years worth of world building, comes the next story in the world of Tarroth.
Schism of the Third Eye
The wiki for the campaign can be found here.
Looking for players. Must have access to Maptools-which means you probably need to have decent connection speeds, because I once had a guy from the carribean who had like, 1 mbps speed, and it would stall whenever I tried to load a new map (which was no no good)-and IRC. There's enough variant rules that in some respects, NOT being totally familiar with every last rule in 4E is ideal, so don't worry as much if you're new to the system.
The day and time has yet to be set (current projection is 8:00 PM EST till question mark-but I try to get at least 4 hour sessions minimum).
FILLED ROLES Defender (Hybrid Brawler Fighter/Paladin) Striker (Hybrid Rogue/???, probably Executioner or Warlock) Striker/Leader (Hybrid Artificer/Ranger, gunslinger)
So, probably a controller (Druid? Mage? Hunter? Psion?!?) and something to fill the healing gap (another hybrid striker/leader for instance)
...
And that's it! More details as they become available. I am not looking for a large party (we're talking 3 to 5 players here, and I already have 1), so barring COMPLETE DISGUST FROM THE DM, this is on a first come first serve basis.
Contact me here in the thread on in private messaging-or on Sykpe or AIM if you have my coveted contact information there-to RSVP.
