Damn, I thought sure when Oliver's mother told Walter she'd explain things after the party that he was a goner. Close but no cigar. And no big surprise, Norman Osborne Tommy's father is Ollie's Evil Counterpart.
It wasn't that one sided. It reminded me of Sting's first title match with Vader. Plucky face champion goes up against monster heel, champ loses his title and gets damn near crippled in the process. It took Sting a while to figure out Vader.
Hopefully it'll take a few seasons for GA to figure out Merlyn.
Since his dad is Merlyn, Tommy Merlyn will wind up being Arsenal.
I really hope not. A DC show stealing a Marvel storyline does nothing for me. Plus, the whole "dad's evil, so his kid's evil" thing has been done to death. It's probably a trope on this very site. (I'd look it up, but I gotta to work in 15 min.)
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Yeah I'm concerned about Tommy as a character. Most of the others have a role but I have no idea what his point is if Daddy's the Merlyn we were waiting for.
I really hope he doesn't go the Harry Osborne route, but it doesn't look like he's got anywhere else to go seeing as otherwise he's just pointlessly getting in the way of the obvious Arrow/Canary OTP (even if Tommy and Laurel probably work better).
Oh, FINALLY, a Myth Arc! With an actual Big Bad! The Plot Thickens!
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. And it's the exact same myth arc and Big Bad that's been involved in all the other episodes!
Yeah, but we're still finally given a sense of direction. Until now it was all "let's clean the list" and get rid of a bunch of related corrupt corporate executives. But now there's some huge city-destroying innocent murdering Cartoonish Supervillainy going on, complete with a supervillain with all the typical tropes involved when it comes to interacting with the protagonist. Same with the island, we finally get to know what's going on.
In fact, one could have missed all episodes previous to this one and still understood the events here fully. Everything until now was filler and warmup.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Yeah, an arc has been going on the whole time behind the scenes, it's just now we're being made aware of it.
Speaking of which, what exactly is Merlyn planning that will "reshape the city" and "kill thousands of innocent people"? My guess is it has something to do with that Applied Sciences division they keep mentioning, and we now know has a member of the list working in it...
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.I laughed.
And this is true, I concede to your point about it coming to the forefront now! I wouldn't call the earlier parts filler at all. It's rising action. Still, the supervillain elements with Merlyn are ones I too have been looking forward to.
I wish he'd start going by Green Arrow. Even if it was just picked up as a nickname by others or whatever. It's just one of those stylistic things. Plus I really don't think nicknames like The Green Arrow are really that unbelievable. We've had all kinds of nicknames and such like that IRL, such as The Red Baron.

With two archers running around, the cops will need names to distinguish them by, and their distinguishing trait is apparently their different colored arrows, so I wouldn't be surprised if the police start calling Ollie the "green arrow guy", and that gets shortened to just Green Arrow...
Hmm... not sure which I like more... I'd accept both of them personally. I just hope he's fully called the Green Arrow and such. As long as it doesn't come up with some stupid nickname like The Blur.

Damn, this probably means that Thea won't become a junkie, get a cyborg arm, and stroke a dead cat while high out of her mind.
Also Ollie may never get to say, "My sister is a JUNKIE?!"
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.
