@Kablam theme: Those few seconds you highlighted actually kind of sound like part of Muse's "Knights of Cydonia", around when the trumpets kick in.

Okay, how do I explain this?
Your listening to a song. It's a really good song. And you get to this small patch, not in the chorus, just kinda free-floating, that has a really distinct feel to it—like maybe, it belongs in a different song, but not in a sampling sort of way.
Erm...
Okay. "Two Tone Army" by the Toasters (most of you will probably know it better as the Kablam theme) is a really good but not exceptional song. It's a fun listen, but there's a few seconds around the 1:30 mark that really stuck with me, and felt like they should be in something big and epic-sounding, out of place but in a good way. I guess. Here, take a listen and see if you can tell what I'm talking about.
I get a similar feel from the opening piece of "Boots of Chinese Plastic", which is kinda eery for the first few seconds before becoming a more straightforward alt-rock song. Here's a link because YouTube markup hates underscores.
Anyone else get this? Am I explaining it well enough? Or am I just nuts?

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.
