The art itself looks fine to me, minus Ariel's unfortunate be-legged condition. But I'm not a fan of baby dolls in general; they all look kinda creepy to me.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaAtlantis The Lost Empire bombed. Mulan's movie was a a pretty good success and a lot of people are quicker to remember her than Kida. Plus Disney needed an Action Girl.
As for Alice, I usually see Alice In Wonderland being used as its own marketing label these days.

Don't mind me. I'm just a creepy little lurker.I dunno, I think Kida's pretty glamorous. She may not wear the usual pimped-out dress all the time, but neither did Pochahontas or Mulan. It's probably more about her movie bombing, poor girl.

So yeah, it has to do with Box Office numbers.
I'm having to learn to pay the price
As do I. :) In a manner of speaking, I'll get to meet them this December. With any luck, I'll be going to Walt Disney World. :)

Like I said, Alice isn't a part of the line mostly cause there's enough fans of anything related to Alice In Wonderland (Disney or not) for her to carry out a separate marketing brand. And Disney does need to draw a line into what characters should be in the line or not. If we add in Alice, we might as well also add Wendy, Megara, Esmeralda, and Jane to the line as well.
FWIW, I have seen Alice costumes in the Princess shop at Disneyland. But that probably has more to do with convenience than theming—there isn't a shop specifically for Alice merch, and the next most logical connection is with the other girls' costumes.
The one character I'm really surprised hasn't been added is Maid Marian. She's bona fide nobility, she wears a fancy dress, she's a love interest, and the movie seems to be at least as popular as Pocahontas. Is it because she's not human? I guess it might be weird to have all the Princesses except one as face characters.
On another note, just for fun...anyone know which was the first Disney Princess movie? It's not Snow White...

Nope. Silly Symphonies are not movies. I'll give you a hint: I potholed Disney Princess for a reason.
Um, no.

They mostly look okay to me. I really like that they had top-level animators design them.
