I blame publishers for bugs
Oh it's not like I need all this money anyway. I've been waiting for this Obsidian!
EDIT: And here's Gamebanshee's exclusive interview.

Kind of disappointed it's a Kickstarter, but it sounds interesting nevertheless.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."50% in 6-7 hours. Not bad.
I'm kinda disappointed, it seems like your standard fantasy setting RPG with a touch of "dark and mature" themes. If that's all I wanted, I would've just played Dragon Age.
If I'm too lazy to watch the whole video, would someone enlighten me as to what this is? Also, why do they need a Kickstarter if it's made by a big fish studio?
Likes many underrated webcomicsWe don't really know enough at this stage but the blog I posted earlier where Sawyer talked about the Black Hound should give an idea about the setting.
It's not so much a 'dark and edgy' take on the standard fantasy setting but, well...I'll just quote Sawyer instead:
The Forgotten Realms setting can be pretty crazy for the record, when you move away from the more generic Sword Coast stuff. I think it will be more than a typical medieval fantasy setting with blood everywhere and have some of the crazier and trippier stuff in a lot of great high fantasy. Basically, I'd expect more of a Torment or Mot B in terms of setting and tone rather than Dragon Age or Neverwinter Nights.

I still want my Eberron game in a infinity-like engine.
Because money. Devs are not the one that have it, it's the publishers.

Donate money to Skullgirls, get a sweet poster. At this stage what it is, is a Real Time With Pause (think Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale in terms of combat) High Fantasy RPG where you create a single character and build a party of existing companions (rather than full party creation at the start like in Wasteland 2). We'll probably get more information as the kickstarter continues. Given the developer track record there will likely be a strong emphasis on choices and consequences and possibly multiple options in solving a quest.
It needs a Kickstarter because Obsidian isn't really a 'big fish' developer, they're a mid sized independent team but one who don't really have funds to spare on a full game (they don't get a cut from the sales of other titles and having games in the pipeline is the only way they stay alive...to the point where a cancellation of a major project lead to a lot of devs getting laid off).
On top of which publishers just aren't interested in funding a RTWP isometric RPG so this is basically the only way this can get funding. There's more info on this in the gamebanshee interview I linked earlier.

I'm tentatively excited for this. I've tried to get into the old isometric RP Gs but they just haven't stuck. BG 2 was incredibly difficult even though I was pretty sure I had it on the easiest setting; I gave up on Torment when I had to go on a clue hunt for a literal piece of junk; I gave up on Fallout 2 because I was alting like mad to figure out how I'd like to play the game and that goddamn tutorial dungeon got on my nerves.
Here's hoping I can get into this (and that they release a demo at some point).
Ah, I see. Thanks.

700,000. Nice.

I'm not sure I can really allow myself to get excited for this, or I'll explode like a frustrated player character in Douglas Adam's Bureaucracy two whole years before the thing is due to appear. I'm pledging though.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.@Nick: Tactic for kickstarter game is this: After campaign is over and info starts coming slower, forget about game until its close to release or new info comes, if after that new info doesn't come soon forget about it again and repeat. Thats way you can still have sanity Its pretty much what I do with DFA document updates.
And what happened with FTL until I got beta key when game was really close to release xD

Less than 150k cashes missing for the first goal.
I think it will reach it.
I think Obsidian has a much brighter future ahead of it.
Not while they don't go talk to WOTC to make an Eberron-based game.
Seriously, is match made in heaven.
Eberron is a poor man's Forgotten Realms, which itself is a poor man's Middle-earth. Planescape, Ravenloft or Spelljammer on the other hand...
Eberron is nothing like Forgotten Realms.
FR is High Fantasy, Eberron is Dungeon Punk.

Donate money to Skullgirls, get a sweet poster.I'd rather have a Dark Sun game then a Eberron one.
Or Spell Jammer.

A Spelljammer RPG set mostly aboard the Spelljammer would be bitchin'.
I disagree, the Spelljammer itself was probably the worst thought-out part of the setting. It worked fine as an urban(?) legend, not so well as an actual developed locale.
I would totally play an Obsidian-made Spelljammer game, though.
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comWell, it's funded now. That was REALLY fucking fast. I really believe it'll surpass the Double Fine Kickstarter by next Friday. Looking forward to seeing some actual details about plot or gameplay, though.
