Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan (Manga Discussion)

Once again I'm reminded of that interview of Isayama's daily life of making manga and the only time he's genuinely happy is on the off times he plays Splatoon.

Poor guy is just out of it.

@Eriorguez: Can't say I disagree with your take on Titanfolk, I enjoy a lot of the shitposts but all the Jaegerists have largely driven me away back to the regular SnK sub for chapter release and discussion (funny because I stopped using the SnK sub and went to Titanfolk in the first place because I had gotten fed up with r/SnK's at the time asinine policies regarding spoilers and the like).

Also, I've seen people mention that the season 2 ED has a shot foreshadowing Armin's nuke - anyone know which part / what the timestamp for that is? I always assumed the big round "light" near the end was just supposed to be the sun.

That was... eh. Feels like going through the motions really. Just like bird Falco was an asspull and "kill the Spine, fix everything" is even more so, titanizing all the remaining cast feels rather pointless. The best part of the chapter for me was Mikasa's AU and farewell from Eren. Aside from that, I'm lukewarm on this.

As to how far in I thought Isayama was gonna stick the landing? Probably around 132.

@Omega The way Mikasa views Eren should also be Sasuke to be honest but like the type of Sasuke that Sakura sees lmao

At least Mikasa could actually follow through with killing the psycho she loved.

Comparing Mikasa to Sakura in any way is an insult to Mikasa.

Yeah there's no one in this manga who warrants being compared to even a fraction of Sakura's uselessness and awfulness. There's no one in most mangas who warrant being compared to a even a fraction of Sakura's uselessness and awfulness.

Also, notice Ymir spying on the kiss just as she was watching the one shown in her childhood. Only two kisses in the manga, and she's there to witness both.

Also, I'm not buying Eren is dead until the last page; this isn't coping, but this guy has cheated death literally the entire series.

I certainly did not expect Eren to be this quiet throughout the battle. Kinda took out some of the emotional impact of it all. But, I won't mind if this is the final definite end for him and we get nothing else from his perspective the final chapter.

Guess we're dropping spoiler tags now?

Mikasa's last words to him in the log cabin vision are his dream from the very beginning. I've seen a suggestion/explanation that that cabin visions / the dream are Eren's dying moments in an alt universe where Mikasa gives the "right" answer to his question of what he is to her, and they run away to live out his last years in peace while everything else goes to hell. When he sends those dying memories to kid Eren, thats the first chapter of the manga and we follow a universe where Mikasa ultimately gives a different answer (the one we see), and that leads to Eren committing to the genocide plan.

Whether that theory (that its A Us and not a personal private PAT Hs moment between them or something) is true or not, we finally have an answer to that first, and longest mystery. Either way, we're in uncharted waters now (until we find another thing in the final chapter that Isayama sneaked into that damned Yuugure no Tori ED :p)

Worth noting that last chapter most of the important stuff was Armin's perspective, and this chapter was more focused on Mikasa's. Presumably we either get Eren's explicit dying perspective and/or Ymir's for dealing with Hallucigenia-kun, and then epilogue.

But I'm also fine with leaving our last look at Eren's perspective being him letting chibi-Eren take over and think "that scenery" is flying through clouds instead of genocide steam.

By the way, was there still any contention left on exactly how Mikasa felt about Eren? Because I thought it was obvious from the beginning that her feelings were romantic, but I remember it being a thing with people debating if it was or just a brother-sister thing.

I remembered it was always the unhealthy aspect to it that made people want to dismiss it.

Considering they were raised as siblings, some people wanted to write it off. But uh...shippers, they have no rhyme or reason.

Ok guys, time to make a judgment call; who will Gabi eat to regain human form, Reiner or will Falco let himself be eaten by her.

Mikasa moved in for a kiss during Clash of the Titans right before he fisted Dina and had the other titans go down on her, but her obvious dependency on him was established as early as her suicidal rampage during Trost.

She only lived with the Jaegers for maybe a year before Bert did the thing. Not quite raised as siblings, but also not, not raised as siblings.

@Yakuza Well considering how it's drawn. Jean eats Reiner and Gabi eats Falco in order to keep his promise to Reiner.

But in actuality, I think the parasite being destroyed frees everyone from the Power of the Titans.

They typically sever their partner's head while they mate with them.

That can still happen when somebody is eaten.

It depends on what causes Reiner the most suffering. Given the circumstances, he'd happily let her eat him, but then he'd be happy and we can't have that. Also, he'd be dead and we can't have that.

Regardless of what makes Reiner suffer most, Jean has to turn back to human without Pieck being eaten so that Fingerstein can successfully be meme'd into canon.

Also, they were both older than the point where people seem to instinctively brand relationships as "sibling-like" and cross them out as romantic interests as a matter of course.

Praying Mantises will spare the male if they’ve been properly fed beforehand.

And if they don’t have the resources to carry kids they just eat the male outright no reproducing involved.

Now if it’s raised in a good environment a female can spare a male while being hungry and reproducing, since nature is all about oddities amongst animal life.
