Regarding the series as a whole, I gotta say that as much as Isayama was mocked for his artstyle ("he draws weird titans because he can’t draw humans"), he still has an incredible knack for composing pages that punch you in the face and convey just the right tone. The apocalyptic scenes of chapter 134 were the epitome of that.

The scene with the baby was incredible.

Not to mention he’s long since improved from the jankness of the early art

I'm having a hard time thinking of a manga whose art has improved this much from its start, like, objectively improved. Casue early Ao T was not a pretty series TBH.

Its rather incredible how this series started out as a cult series right down to the weird art and now its a global success with pretty dope art.

[up] Yeah, that's definitely one that grew considerably. I think Tokyo Ghoul is another with a marked improvement to the point the author released a redrawn version of the first chapter at one point.

It's always really cool to see how creators evolve over time, as they polish their skills and gain experience. Isayama's growth as an artist is simply astounding, and I think he's also grown considerably in his writing as well.

Also Elfen Lied, though that’s more of a jump from "how the hell was this greenlit?" to "kinda decent".

Chapter's leaked/is out

Still bad blood between surviving Eldian and Marleyans - Mr Leonhart and this Secretary guy seem to have their work cut out for them if they want to stop the mooks from doing Eren's job for him

Gabi realizes there's something up with the centipede that jumped out of Eren's body to connect with his head after she shot him, theorizes its the Founder / source of the titans (obviously we having seen Ymir's past know this to be true); alliance has updated their goals to explicitly kill Eren and the Centipede. Mikasa not happy, but Annie helping her keep focused on rescuing Armin.

Pieck is best girl; Jean designated to set off the explosives; Reiner doing his damndest to get into Valhalla already

Gabi got her gun; Levi lamenting his failure to take out Zeke per Erwin's final order, and contemplates the true meaning of the Scouts' oath, wondering if his role in this all was fulfilled back when they finally reached the ocean; Falco does birb things.

Mikasa and Annie get some wonderful combos in going after the Pig Titan that ate Armin, Connie is also there. Pig redirects from tailbone as they hone in, now making a beeline for Bert.

Armin mentally rants at his own uselessness, begging his body to move - then realizes he's in the Paths. At long last, we return to monke, who is trying to build a sandcastle with a very depressed look on his face. Armin sits with him, they say hello to each other, and Zook comments that Armin too has been eaten by Ymir.

Hahahaha, so Zeke really did get to switch places with Ymir huh? Can't say I am surprised, it's a rather Karmic fate in a way. Guessing Armin is gonna find a way to help/stop Zeke, keeping Ymir's infinite army from respawning.

Gotta say, I'm not really a fan of the "character makes wild leap in logic that turns out to be exactly right pieck-chan for the sake of exposition". It was usually Hange's job (it was pretty blatant in S2 when the mechanic of pure titans eating shifters to gain their powers and getting their humanity back), now Gabi gets in on the action. Pieck is kinda OP, huh? So far only Eren had demonstrated the "eject and re-Titan" move, but endurance is the Cart's specialty. Still feel that should've come up before. If Zeke is really enslaved in Ymir's place, well, that's just karma. I'm gonna write a post on my thoughts about Zeke and the other genociders later.

Yeah, that's the endurance bit, but the eject-and-transform maneuver (what is with the force of the ejection anyway? She looks like she ejected from a fighter jet cockpit) is new.

[up][up][up]In this case, Gabi at least did actually see the damn thing up close and personal. She had a clear view of it jumping out of his body and towards the head she had just shot clean off. Not hard to figure out there's something extra special going on there or suspect it has to do with the founder, doubly so since Rumbling and PATHS chat happened right after.

Since the things clearly supposed to be Nidhoggr its definitely going to take more than trying to kill a magical creature that doesnt even die with its host, and bestowed all Titans powers in the first llace(And only reappeared in Eren 2000 years later).

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.

Such a good chapter, but I'm not prepared for it to end in three chapters.

Tense stand-off involving Eldians sick of the bullshit and Marleyan jackasses, while the world is literally ending. I guess we'll see how bad things ended up being at the fort.

Annie splitting the party was a good call, honestly. Mikasa still doesn't want to kill Eren, even if everyone else is on board with this mess. Sending her to focus on rescuing Armin is probably a good call, since it gives her a clear goal she can focus on without being conflicted.

Gabi is a fairly smart kid, I'm not surprised that she figured out something significant. She figured out how to use the gear simply by fiddling with it a bit, and she had a front-row seat for Eren turning into whatever he's become. She witnessed the whole thing, and going A Wizard Did It ... er....it must be the Founding Titan makes sense. It's that level of fuck I don't know.

Pieck, queen, best girl, I'm terrified for her. But man it was awesome to see her really go for it, and show the reason she could basically carry defense of the entire nation for 5 years alongside Zeke. The issue of transformation limits has always been framed as "Stamina", with them running out after multiple transformations or staying in their titan for long periods of time. So the Cart is basically Unlimited Stamina, with the limitation that the pilot is vulnerable because of weak regeneration. It definitely makes her OP while balancing things through Pieck herself being vulnerable. As long as she isn't injured, she can keep making new Titan bodies to fight. But once she's injured, she's done and can't continue to fight the way others could.

Armin is in Paths, huh? Swallowed by Ymir? Zeke being her slave, forced to form the endless Titan puppet army for her while Eren and Ymir conduct the slaughter of the world. So they dragged Armin in as a well, to neutralize the threat of the Colossal Titan. I've seen people theorize that Armin will break through to Ymir and offer a counter-argument to Eren's bleak view. At the core of things, Armin's greatest strength has always been in his ability to inspire others with a Hope for something better. His love of the World saved Eren more than once, it inspired Levi to let Erwin rest, and it could very well be a key to breaking through to Ymir. Giving her an alternative besides "Kill all Eldians" and "Kill the world".

I don't know what people are expecting, consdiering all Eren did was tell her to do what she wants, and she decided to help him of her own volition, and theyve even used the imagery of depicting both as children together last time we saw Eren speak.

Yeah, I don't think an ending of Armin talking Ymir down would be very satisfying or narratively appropriate. Or one of Gabi shooting Nidhoggr with her rifle and ending it all just like that. I'm not super sold on the writing these past few chapters, but Ishiyama absolutely has the writing chops to stick the landing. I'm just hoping he does.

I'd rather Eren just kill everyone then it just going a "huge threat united everyone and defeating it brings peace" ending. Really dont want a Zero Requiem or Kaguya ending.

[up]I was never a fan of the Zero Requiem because frankly it was never realistic. Power Vacuums are an undeniable thing and society at large isn't going to completely shift their beliefs because of a now dead Boogeyman.

If it helps, Eren and Pixys rejected the idea of a Code Geass ending ages ago, calling the idea of humanity uniting against a common enemy too naive.

[up] Yeah, I remember that but I see a decent number of people point to Uri and Kenny as argument in favor of it and them being wrong and I really dont want someone controlled by the First King ending up right since so much of this mess is his fault.

Nobody gets what the want in this series.

I mean the whole plot is "Seeking to prevent the Rumbling, Marley accidentally initiates a chain of events that end up causing the Rumbling"

The "funny" thing is that matters were at a virtual stalemate until the Tyburs (who were the ones who both knew that the King's Vow made the Rumbling impossible and had the power to stop the Warrior program's expedition if they wanted) fucked everything up.

In other words, its all Marley's fault.
