I see someone losing a fight, yes.

But how do we know it wasn't a winnable fight?

Seems better than nothing.

...and the game hasn't even started yet.

Well, it doesn't show that it's an unwinnable fight, but it does show it doesn't necessarily have to be a straight out boss you're fighting.

Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

But the text in the image sucks.

What version of the game is that from, anyways?

I'm surprised to learn that a Hopeless Boss Fight doesn't need to be a boss fight.

The description is subtly more broad than the name suggests? Weird.

Well, it's a more or less scripted battle that happens as an event. That's usually a boss fight, but not always. The frequency also depends on how you count Degraded Bosses and variants thereof.

It's almost as if the name isn't 100% of the meaning of a trope, and reading it might be a good idea.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.

Well, if the trope's name is ever sent to the repair shop, then I suggested Scripted Unwinnable Battle, but that is a suggestion for another time. Lets see what we might be able to depict from the examples...

The description is far longer than it needs to be.

Anyways, the best I can think of is this. A shame the text box covers up Trogdor so much.
