So...i've thinking for my combined sonic universe that I talked ages ago, I don't know where to start

There's the classic era which is also the very beginning, the problem is that the events of stc also happen, meaning that this will be a slog to go through.

There's the middle/dreamcast era, which has the same problems as above though in a lesser scale.

There's the modern era, but I feel that's very late and I don't know if it would be okay to start that late.

What do you guys think?

The first thing you do is write out a list of reasons for why you'd want to start in that era. Then you write a list of reasons for why you wouldn't want to start in that era. Try to include every reason you can think of then go off and think of some more. Think about it from every possible angle. If you still haven't decided by this point, turn the lists into ratios. Pros-to-cons. If one era has a higher pros-to-cons ratio, start with that one. If not, see if perhaps you can think of more reasons to do or not do any given era.

If that fails utterly or sounds like too much work, pull up an online dice roller and roll a 1d3. 1 is the Classic Era, 2 is the Adventure Era, and 3 is the Modern Era. There ya go.

I had a strange and somewhat tongue-in-cheek idea for a Sonic fanfic.

It's a novelization of George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead (1978) with the main characters replaced with Sonic characters.

• Sonic as Peter
• Knuckles as Roger
• Tails as Steven
• Amy Rose as Francine

I've even considered "crossover" cameos from other franchises as part of the fic (the Sailor Senshi as the bikers who raid the mall, Bleach characters as the rednecks and National Guardsmen shooting zombies in the countryside)

It is very much a parody in spirit, but the text would present itself as serious.

Coventina's Crown is a short, unfinished fic about Morain. I'm surprised it's gone under the radar for so long—no one has reviewed it since 2002. Morain's an interesting character but she doesn't get much attention.

Outrun Is an IDW Sonic fic done by Benignmilitancy (one of my friends), It's centered on the Metal Virus arc.

I read an IDW fic about that too recently!

Here's an idea for a Sonic fanfic:

During one of her usual treasure hunts, Rouge the Bat discovers a mysterious device leading to an unknown location. She gathers the rest of Team Dark and follow the device's coordinates, which is that of a hidden facility in a mountainous region. Upon exploring the facility the trio finds something that leaves them completely aghast: the body of Maria Robotnik cryogenically preserved in a coffin-like chamber. As Shadow gets emotional over seeing his long-dead friend again, a message plays from a scientist who reveals that he worked on Project Shadow and took Maria after she died in the raid on Space Colony ARK. He then traveled down to Earth and spent the rest of his life in isolation and trying to find a way to bring Maria back to life. Before his passing, he discovered that the Chaos Emeralds in combination with the machine she's resting in could do it. At that point, Team Dark sets out on a journey to find the Emeralds and revive Maria; attracting the interest of Sonic and his friends and Dr. Eggman in the process.

...ok I really don't wanna be a dick but...you're gonna have stiff competition because this concept was done many, MANY times in fanfic before so I advice you to do something new with it if you want it to stand out.

Yeah, I know that. Most of these fanfics involve Maria coming back as an anthropomorphic hedgehog. So I would deviate from the norm by having her come back as a human.

Not to mention I would come up with plot points exploiting the scenario. Like how would Dr. Eggman react to seeing his deceased cousin alive again, and at the exact same age she was 50 years ago?

This idea could find use as a one-shot if someone hasn't already done it: One day after foiling an Eggman plot as usual, Sonic sees Shadow get taken aboard an alien ship and pursues them to a convention on Planet Wisp where the aliens are holding their annual 'Mightiest Edgelord in the Universe' contest and to nobody's surprise Shadow got nominated and ends up beating out the competition, including Infinite who is wearing a Linkin Park T-shirt for no reason.

Yes, it's basically the entire concept of that one South Park episode where Stan called John Edward 'The Biggest Douche in the Universe' and he ended up winning that competition, only with edginess instead of being a douche.

I had a draft of a "Sonic universe" with lots of Canon Welding. [1] Trying to take as many pieces of Sonic media and fusing it together.

Never got anywhere, but I had ideas of the storylines and characters I wanted to bring together.

THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SONIC THE HEDGEHOG

This is a fanfic I started as a means to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the series. It’s also a revival of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, but more faithful to the games from the pre-Sonic Adventure era and not quite as nuts as the original. There is quite a bit of Canon Welding with elements from the Archie series and even the Shogakukan manga as well. Everyone got aged down slightly for this, being that this is set in a Classic universe.

The first arc is a composite of the 16-bit and 8-bit versions of Sonic The Hedgehog, mixed in with AOSTH elements. Furthermore, it’s much more character-based than the series’ namesake. For instance, Vanilla and Cream move in with Sonic after Scratch and Grounder mistakenly destroy their house and grow to become a mother and little sister to him, much like how Tails becomes a little brother after he joins the cast (not sure what the Trope name for this is...).

A comic adaptation will be coming in June. Don’t miss it!
