Thanks guys. It works fine with the Steam version.
On a related topic, what is everyone's favourite colour of lightsaber? I'm partial to the traditional blue or green, and usually go for a green saber in Jedi games.
Blue or silver (KOTOR II only) for me. The former because it's my favourite colour, the latter just because it's cool.
Locking you up on radar since '09Green, red or silver for me.
Well, having gotten over the rage of all the horrible accidents that befell me while trying to play either game (seriously, every time before this one I put the game in something bad happened that stopped me from being able to play it), I finally
Almost done Taris, stuck on Bendak. I truly wonder whether the developers intended this guy to be defeatable through normal gameplay - even the tactic of moving constantly and spamming grenades is generally failing me.
Though in general, it's been a bother that my main character hasn't really been the best person in a fight - it's only recently that I've been able to hit things consistently. Granted, the only time that's been obvious is in the duels themselves, where the player is pretty much always outmatched.
And I do feel like my character's been slowly becoming better - I could probably finish the regular missions on Taris no problem. But this guy... oy.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. Are you using some kind of mod to increase the difficulty? Because I don't remember having any problem with Taris, even when I refused to spend my level-ups. What class are you?
Bendak Starkiller? The Mandalorian that would fight you if you beat all the other dueling guys? I have no idea of how to beat him.
I'm thinking of buying the game on Steam, playing through it again. It's been a really long time since I've been able to.
I think I alternated between blasters, swords and mines to kill him. And even then, I don't think I was able to outside the Soldier class, after completing basically the rest of Taris.
The one time I had managed to get to the point where I could face Bendak, he absolutely slaughtered me every time I tried to fight him. To this day I'm not 100% convinced I could take him on.
Locking you up on radar since '09Yeah, when you're far away I remember he uses really super-damaging grenades and up close he can kick your butt too. He's definitely a Mandalorian, that much is for sure.
The way I did it was immediately charging him to stop him from spamming grenades, stick around him long enough to get him to pull out his blade, and then pull out my guns, and start running from him constantly. He's not that fast, and you can use the time you're running away from him to chuck grenades and mines back at him while you slowly heal. I managed to do that trick with all three characters, and the only one who had serious trouble beating him was the scoundrel due to his low-level specs being mainly focused on everything except combat.
I've always chosen silver.
Jonah FalconYou get dark side points for killing Starkiller anyway, so you might want to skip that if you care about karma meter
Lightsaber color?
Yeah, I enjoy the fact that you're not limited to blue, green, or red colors.
I always kill Starkiller. And the reason it's Dark Side points is not because you killed him. It's because you did a deathmatch. And it's only a blip, really.
Jonah FalconYes, great difference between illegal deathmatch and killing!

Well the other duels weren't to the death.
Ajuur makes it very clear that Bendak is evil to the core.
Jonah FalconI think Zax implies that Bendak kept killing people even after he retired, but just kept quiet about it. I was mildly surprised when the match was worth Dark Side points.
And anyway, I'm trying to keep neutral for now - and I think I'm going for mildly-dark-neutral anyways... though I'm not sure.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. The dick moves in KOTOR are only beaten by Jade Empire in dickery. You can really do some cruel shit in KOTOR.
Jonah FalconI've heard you can use persuade to make Z kill Mission. Which just veers straight into moustache twirling territory.

Jonah FalconSo I beat Bendak a while ago. Unfortunately, thanks to my copy's infuriating habit of freezing whenever the battle went on for longer than a minute or so (plus every ten minutes otherwise), I was pretty much forced to turn difficulty down and spam grenades at him so he would die in twenty seconds so I could actually finish the fight - let alone find a less resource costly method of fighting him.
Recently, I've discovered that while playing in Windowed Mode - which I initially only did do so I could exit easier - the game freezes less often. I have no idea why... but I'll take it.
Also, being able to effortless lie to the Jedi Council is quite hilarious.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Yeah, I pretty much just ran around throwing grenades at Bendak and using energy shields and medpacks. You might as well blow through them on the few really hard encounters in the game. Grenades and all the low to mid tier shields and medpacks become pretty useless after about Dantooine anyway, due to the lack of scaling and the overlap with Jedi powers.
Forcing Zaalbar to kill Mission may be the single most dickish thing you can do in any Bioware game... although you can do some pretty twisted stuff in Jade Empire too, like feeding people to cannibals and selling children into slavery.
It works with the Steam version. I'm using the Steam version.
