For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube
which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B
to Z
, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.
For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE
) to repeat in the chat.
We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

In fairness, we can say this about nearly every sort of genre film that we see, and we do watch a lot of genre films here.
On the other hand, the slasher genre is probably one of our most disliked genres (the only such film we've ever truly endeared and bestowed with a rating of ![]()
![]()
or higher has been a parody film). Nonetheless, in the name of keeping everything fresh and varied, I say it's been long enough since... Christ, what was our last slasher movie feature? Smiley? Eeeesh, now I remember why we've stayed away from these for so long. Anyway, enough time has past since then; it's time to riff one of these types of movies in their own type of way again.
Pray for fromokide.
I LOVE to mock slasher films. I've been doing that for a while since this coven even began. They're all contemptible trash. Only enjoyable in a very mindless, contemptuous way, IF that. The only things that make these slashers special from one another is how they creatively slaughter the cast of unlikable, one-note characters one by one (or two by two if they're fucking). Seriously, that's all the genre does: creatively and gruesomely kill people for the bemusement of the audience. Sure it can be in the name of horror or to make the audience cringe, but at the end of the day it's just killing for the sake of killing. At least films like Saving Private Ryan, as nasty as they are, do it for a reason.
Yes, I am aware that Alien is a really well-made slasher in space, but at least it has substance.
War is God.Wasn't Jack Frost technically a slasher too? We gave that one a ![]()

rating as well. Sure, it deviated from formula a bit (some of the victims were older than teens, police detective defeats the monster instead of final girl) but it still falls within the general genre.
Well, technically, Jack Frost was a MONSTER. A SLASHER is basically just a serial killer. [/joking]

I feel incredibly fortunate that the only slashers I've seen have been Behind The Mask and The Cabin In The Woods.

ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NOFound something in the vein of Prince of Space
for tonight that promises the traditional superhero story combined with Japanese kaiju called Attack from Space.
No trailer, but if you're already familiar with MST 3 K and Prince of Space, you should have a good idea of what you're in for.
Unless someone has any ideas, I'm gonna go with Norm's suggestion and play The Terror (starring Jack Nicholson) in my room.
War is God.I don't know where the hell everyone is, but we're starting now. http://www.synchtube.com/r/Prometheus136#
