For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube
which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B
to Z
, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.
For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE
) to repeat in the chat.
We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

Your approach is rude. The "Oh yeah? What about this?" before showing us a link that we had no way of knowing even existed comes across as combative. A better way to phrase it would have been "Actually, I found it on You Tube unlisted. Here you go:"

Yeah, you better get some sleep, man, and I'll be seeing you again some other time.
As for everybody else, you better say your prayers... because we're beginning an evening touting blatant Christian media. First up, we got a blast from the past from Deeper Understanding, plus the absolute worst Bibleman video that I could find (that we haven't seen before).
Then, at the top of the coming hour, we check out God's Not Dead.

Tone is a tricky thing on the internet. If something's worded aggressively, it's gonna be taken aggressively. :/ Emoticons can kinda sorta help with that, I think, but nothing replaces body language, and nobody can read minds.
We got our hands on a classic horror movie treat tonight—the original Prom Night, starring Leslie Nielsen and Jamie Lee Curtis.
It's like Roller Boogie
and Hell Night
rolled into one, and Linda Blair is staying at home!
Leslie Nielsen? Must be before he decided that comedy was his life.
Meanwhile, the page for God's Not Dead claims that the movie is more or less a Whole-Plot Reference to a Chick Tract called Big Daddy
. Which is blocked at work and therefore I can't read it. I guess "Category: Traditional Religions" isn't allowed at work.
The Ledge is supposedly the atheist equivalent of the movie we just saw - totally failing, by portraying its atheist protagonist as enough of a jerk to make him unlikeable.
I also just heard of a film called Persecuted. Wanna know its plot? A Christian fights to prevent a law from being passed, a law saying that all religions must be treated equally (which apparently means that no religion can claim they have the whole and only truth). Oh no, the horror. Then he's framed for a murder he didn't commit. Those intolerant persecutors, trying to force equal rights into law! D:<

The plots' framing and the motivations of the two main characters (especially the professors) are very similar, but the central argument in the Chick Tract is centered around the proving the case for Creationism, rather than the existence of a God.
Nonetheless, you're in for a hell of a treat when you can look at that later. I think I found it more entertaining than the movie.

I just read it on my phone. What on earth? Lots of things are brought up to be disproven, and in the end, suddenly the Bible is just automatically assumed to be true. Nobody even bothers to ask any questions about it. They should give it the exact same scrutiny that they gave to the professor's evidence of evolution.
I love that conversation at the end. "What will happen if we die believing this?" Who would even think to ask that??
we notice this stuff every time but
those do not look like teenagers
i dont know where to start secret movie club for cool pplI'd assume Prowler meant that in an Insult to Rocks sort of way.

Okay, tonight's Prom Night! Are you excited? Ignore those warnings about the killer on the loose... stupid school administrators trying to ruin our fun.
Before, we got more of Retsuperae playing Sonic 2006, and more Starcade, that 80s gameshow that had nothing to do with stars or famous people, and everything to do with arcades.
Come on in: http://cytu.be/r/tropercoven

I did, in a sense, though I do enjoy Hell Night quite a bit(and going by Rotten Tomatoes and my slasher-loving compatriots, I'm not alone). But, like somebody once said, "Prowler is weird."
But I digress. I used to consider Prom Night one of the dullest slashers ever made. It's certainly the dullest Jamie Lee Curtis-starring one. Tonight should be interesting.
EDIT:
So...Prom Night happened.
Ya know what SHOULD happen? Prom Night II!

Thanks (good news; I'm doing some work experience in a convenience store bakery for two weeks, bad news; I start at 06:30 in the morning, so I might be missing a few days next week and the week after).

Happy to hear that. It sounds amazing.
Yeah, we'll be fitting not one but two feature-length documentaries into tonight's playlist.
In pre-show, we'll have the 47-minute Cane Toads: An Unnatural History. Take my word for it, it's bizarre. And if enough people turn out for most of that, perhaps we may rate that, too.
Then, at 8:00, the marquee attraction: The Law Enforcement Guide to Satanic Cults.
This is gonna be a weird night.

I found what might be one of the strangest things yet.
It's called Final Flesh. No, it's not a porno. Instead, a comedian hired four "porn for hire" companies that make fetish films based off the requester's script, to make the four pieces that, combined, make up an absurdist comedy. An absurdist comedy made by porno companies that don't realize they're making a comedy instead of some guy's weird fetish piece.
Check the trailer above. Well, the soundtrack is NSFW, but the content? Well, it doesn't have any sex or nudity, while the film has no sex.

I don't think I'll be able to make it tonight. I'm still tired from last night (long story short, I was up for a few more hours after we finished the movie).
